Hope you all had a safe and Happy New Year. I was lucky to find a cable channel that let us watch the ball drop East Coast time. Wheww!!! Ayden went outside to bang a pan, do some poppers on the ground and that was about it. I was out by 10. After being at work at 5am the last two days I just wasn't up to staying up last night. Im sure it bummed Chris out but....:rolleyes1.....no comment. So much tension around here lately you could cut it with a knife.

Anyway, today Ayden is going to his dads for a few hours and I'm SO looking forward to a grocery shopping trip child free. Ayden HATES the grocery store. I'm bound to get some good food to start my New Year off eating better.

Here's to a better 2010....

The fireworks were awesome. It's so cool because they are all synchronized, and from where we were parked you can see the whole skyline, so you see them all at once. Someday, maybe if I'm brave or crazy enough, I'll actually go down onto the Strip with the thousands of drunk people. lol

I've been down there with the drunk people twice. Ok, one of those times I was one of the drunk people and the other I was with a ton of drunk people and I was tipsy. If you do decide to go down there, make sure you go to the bathroom. At about 11:30, the hotels stop letting people in until after the fireworks are done.

I am so jealous of Sarah and her weight loss!!! Don't worry Sarah. I keep finding the weight you are losing. :thumbsup2

:

Thanks Beth though I think I gained 7 pounds last night! Ugh! Back on track today though:thumbsup2

Update on dining reservations.

Sarah, how's it going for House of Blues brunch?

I have got ahold of everyone signed up and they are still ago and the checks to me should be in the mail mostly so as soon as I get those I will be calling to book!

Sarah

Oh and for those interested the Hannah Swensen Brownies Plus recipe was a big hit. They were REALLY rich. I liked them best a bit warm but it says to cool completely so I would do that and then warm up the single brownie when ready to eat it.

Sarah

I feel like I am ready to plan a trip. I know ours is under control but I just have that urge so I might try planning next years christmas trip with my family (they want to go somewhere with snow next year) or my WDW trip in late 2011 or early 2012. Hmmm choices choices.

Sarah

Carol, loved the pics of you and your boys!:thumbsup2
Regarding your pic Beth, ummm, not so much.:upsidedow

We have watched the Rose Parade twice. DH is napping. I am still in jammers and Spikey is a wild thing (obviously it's a kitten thing:)).

We are thinking of driving to Pasadena to see the floats up close and personal. The website says 150,000 people will show up so bring your patience, but the earlier you get there the better. General admin begins at 9 am. We want to go on Sunday morn. It's only $7 and I am sure they are facsinating and beautiful IRL. Has anyone done this? Any tips or advice? Yeah or Nay? Are there places to sit? (DH can't stand for too long). Breezy & I are excited to go!

Sarah & Capri - your pies sound yummo!

No dessert making around here but I am making homemade split pea soup and corn bread with the left over 8 pounds of ham we got free from my work.

Beth -thanks so much for getting up early for the group, we love you!:lovestruc

If it's still open, I'll take the last slot for desserts at BB on Monday at 6:30 pm. Thanks! And I can be Deb if you want (even though I'm not her seester:laughing:).

MMMMMM homemade split pea is one of my FAVORITES! Have fun with that! Dinner for me will probably be leftover portioned out thai food or chicken breast and chicken or something like that. I am being good today...I even brought all my leftover goodies and my moms leftover goodies to work today so I wouldn't eat them!

HAPPY NEW YEAR

We ate dinner at Macaroni grill and saw Princess & the Frog last night. It was a wonderful movie and highly recommend all Disney fans to see it!

Ruben and I did it one year but it was a long time ago. Not sure how it's done now. It was nice to see it up close, but it can get really crowded, and my kids got bored pretty quickly so we didn't stay long.
Have fun if you go.

Hi Girls! Just a quick drive-by from me. Happy New Year to all, and thanks so much for the birthday wishes!!!! I had a great birthday in Yosemite. On our way into the park, we stopped for a quick hike to let the dogs run around, and it started hailing on us in the middle of our hike! Once we got into the park, we went for a snow shoe hike, then ice skating in Curry Village. Super fun day!

I'm pretty sure I'll never catch up on all the chatter, so if there is anything that I absolutely need to know, please PM me.

We're heading home tomorrow, but stopping at my MIL's house on the way. I'm super-excited about this----but not really!

Biggest of hugs to all!

Hey girls!! Happy New Year!!!!

Last night, just Jesus and I ended up going to eat sushi. We were the last costumers and had a great time. After that we went home, watched TV and then rang in the new year with his family all in our jammies. Then me, him, his Mom and 2 brothers watched Four Christmases. It's a cute movie. We didn't go to bed until around 4am... I took a long nap today. Since we didn't go eat sushi with my parents, we're all going again tomorrow night. I can eat sushi everyday, so that's fine with me!

Carol, speaking of Oregon. DBF's sister's boss is an Ohio State alumni and had a couple tickets to today's Rose Bowl Game. The boss asked Jesus' sister if her brothers like football (all 3 LOVE football), and that he had some extra tickets and if they would want to go to the game. Well of course she said yes, so he told her, text one of your brothers and ask him who he wants to win the game, if he texts back Ohio State, I'll give you the tickets. Well she texted the middle brother and what did he answer? OREGON! And so they didn't get the tickets. I thought it was pretty funny.

Why do I get the feeling that A LOT of us ordered the same pillowcase for the exchange? :scratchin :rotfl:

Well, our boys got in BIG trouble about 15 minutes before the new year. Big time grounded! So we rang in the new year listening to the boys crying, which of course made for a bummer evening for all. :sad1: :sad2

I did manage to make a couple of pies last night for today. I made a Chilean raspberry-blueberry pie and what I call "Envy" pie, which is basically a Lime cream pie (Ya get it.....green with envy.....hence the name. Okay, so it's dorky, but I'm trying to be creative here. I also came up with "Creamy Grinch" pie and "Greenback" pie. I'm working on the name.) Anyway, I made the Chilean raspberry-blueberry pie with Splenda so my dad can have some too (he's diabetic), and I made it using my new pretty red deep dish pie plate that I received for Christmas from my mystery Diva elf. I LOVE the pie plate. Now I want to get some more because it's nice a deep, so you can put in lots of filling, and it's so pretty on the table. :cloud9:

I need to jump in the shower and then bake a chocolate cake really fast before heading to my parents house to start cooking the prime rib. I hope everyone has a FABULOUS NEW YEARS DAY! Enjoy all the football, family and friends!!! :yay:

No way did anyone else order "my pillowcase"! It's one of a kind! :snooty:

Your pies sound so original and wonderful! Since Dan is really into pies right now, I'm going to have to get some of your recipes. That raspberry-blueberry pie sounds incredible!

Your birthday fun in the snow sounds wonderful! I love the pics you posted on FB! We went looking for snow for the kids to go sledding in today, and all we found was a giant slushie in a rain storm. :sad2:

I want a New Year's Day do-over!

Hi Courtney - We drove near you about an hour ago...we went to Ojai today drove through Fillmore on the way going and through your area on our way home. I had Mr. CA honk. :goodvibes

We watched the parade twice too! :) We've been talking about going on Sunday too to see the floats! It's either go see the floats or clear out Christmas at the house...I am leaning toward the floats! I don't have any tips but I think Bob has done it before. I'll ask if he has any tips for you but he did think that Sunday might be less crowded. Have fun and if we decide to go we might run into you!

Well, tell him thanks for the support but I am sorry he didn't get to go to the game!

Just checking in. Hope everyone had a safe and Happy New Year's Eve/Day. I didn't get to be till almost 4 this morning. Then slept horribly. Spent most of the day in my jammies. Showered, and put on clean jammies. Still just hanging around. I don't feel bad, but I sure had more than my share to drink last night. So I am surprised that I feel as well as I did. One of the yummy shots we had last night was called "chocolate cake". It was delish. I will have to share that with you all.

Watching the Hangover again, and waiting to go to bed.

Anyone planning on watching the fights tomorrow night?

The Chilean raspberry-blueberry pie is really yummy and really easy. It's a pie with a bottom and top crust.

Just line a pie plate with the bottom crust (uncooked of course)

Then mix 2 cups blueberries and 1.5 cups raspberries with:
1 table spoon orange zest
1 table spoon orange liqueur (or a couple table spoons orange juice)
7 table spoons corn starch
1.5 cups sugar
(premix the corn starch with the sugar before mixing it in with the berries)

Mix gently so not to crush the berries

Pour and mound berry mixture in an uncooked pie crust.
Top with uncooked pie crust.
Score the top pie crust to vent
Brush top pie crust with milk and sprinkle with sugar
Bake for 40 minutes at 350 degrees.
(Loosely cover with foil if pie crust browns too quickly).

Then enjoy (a la mode if you wish)! :thumbsup2

Hello everyone!!

I hope everyone had a marvelous NYE last night! I behaved quite well and went dancing at a club in down town Long Beach with some friends. Nothing too specatcular but it was a nice way to welcome the start of 2010! I can't believe how fast the year came but it means I am only a few short weeks away from the Girls Trip!! I am so excited to see everyone in February! It's going to be so much fun!!

Hope you all have a fantastic weekend!!:grouphug:

We've been lounging about the house. My parents went out to shop for their trip while Anais and I got our supplies to make cupcakes. My mom got two books on cupcakes, Babycakes and and Hello! Cupcake. We're attempting to make this one for my uncle's birthday tomorrow.

Bye! :hippie:
