Girls Only Trip ~ OLD Thread, see link in first post for new one

Yeah for mom's cake it isn't THAT big of a deal, unlike the girls, but they are charging 52 bucks for a 10 inch round cake and for that you would think you could get something a little more special than just flowers but whatever. I just want to make it nice for her since it is a big birthday. And like I said we are going to have TONS leftover so seriously after you guys meal at Jazz Kitchen if anyone wants to meet for cake we are going to have quite a bit I am sure. I hate to waste it!

That sounds like a lot of $$==I know when I ordered Dawn's cake last September it was $25 or $27 for one that size and it included the figurine!

If CO doesn't work for the group I still want to go so if anyone else "HAS" to eat there like I do just let me know and I will make us a small ressie. I really hope we can do it as a group but I know my trip will not be complete Sarah

Us too! I sleep in sweats so technically they are not jammies but still it IS what I slept in last night LOL. And Shelby is still in hers but Katy got dressed in sweats. We haven't left the house so why bother I say! Might as well be comfy and cozy!!

Yeah Cheryl I thought the same thing! I got a 10 inch cake for Lynn's 16th birthday in Feb of 07 and then the smallest cake they make for Shelby this past april and neither were even close to that much. Honestly I wouldn't even do it but I want to do SOMETHING more than just get the standard desert that they usually do when you say it's your birthday. If it wasn't for my mom I would NEVER spend that much (esp since I am on such a tight budget) but I want it to be special for her esp since she is paying for a lot of my trip. I thought it was the least I could do! But that is why I want to share the cake with whoever cuz I remember from the one we got lynn it was HUGE and there is no way three of us will eat very much. I hope some people will come join us cuz I know it would really make mom happy.

I just looked at the email that vacation planning sent me and you are right 52 is for a 1/4 sheet cake which is NOT what I ordered but it ALSO lists all the other stuff you used to be able to get. It has a 6 inch cake and they told me now you can't get anything smaller than a 10. I am on hold with disney dinning right now to confirm just what the heck I ordered cuz now I am confused. I am wondering if along with getting RID of everything their prices went up. The 10 inch USED to be 32. If it went up to 52 that is ridiculous.

Ok yeah my email was WRONG. The cakes are made by a new bakery and they DON'T have any of the figures or anything and it IS 52. That is nuts. It went up 20 bucks! I asked then what a 1/4 sheet was and it is 66. So NOW I am thinking if people are truly interested in sharing some cake with mom I may make it bigger. I don't want to do it though unless I can get some people to agree to come cuz then I will be stuck with it. But it is not THAT much more for the sheet cake and if people would like to share I wouldn't mind getting the little bigger one. So let me know if anyone wants to come join us for cake after your dinner and I will order the bigger one!

I don't know if it would help or not but maybe when you speak to the managers you could give them the link to this thread so they can see that we are serious about going and being in a group that large. And maybe it would help them make a decision.

Ummm, I can pretty much promise you by asking this you will end up with the exact same group that is already signed up. Everyone, myself included, loves CO. Let's just hope it works out and worry about plan B later.

My gosh! That is a little insane. I got my dh a nice birthday cake last year from a stand alone bakery and it only came to $70. It was 2 tiers with gamer emblems on it too. I know they have to mark it up for it being at Disney, but still. That best be one amazing cake!

Hello from the Sierras! We had a great day today in the snow. We went to the edge of Yosemite, and did some sledding and had a campfire. So cozy!!!
Tomorrow we are going to Badger Pass, which is a ski resort in Yosemite. I don't ski, but the kids go snow boarding and I sit at the picnic table or in the lodge and read my book, play cards with our friends, etc. I may do a bit of snow shoeing, if I feel like it.

Janelle and Laurie--I'm so sorry you won't be able to make it on the trip.
