I posted this on Facebook so some of you already saw this, but I have a very sneaky daughter!! Lindsey apparently snuck into my notebook where I keep the kid's Christmas list and she now knows every one of her gifts. The little stinker.

The thing is, I don't know what to do. Punish her? :confused3 I mean, really, as a kid I always peeked into my presents. I was really good at unwrapping and rewrapping them. :rolleyes1 So do I blame her?

I was talking to Ruben about it and he reminded me how even as an adult I can't stand being surprised. One year for our anniversary, when we lived in CA, he planned a trip to Vegas for us. I knew everything but where we were staying.

Back then, the Venetian was fairly new, and I'd always wanted to stay there, so I had my suspicions that's where he'd booked us a room, but despite my badgering him, he wouldn't tell me!!

Soooo........ I called Venetian reservations, gave my name to the lady who answered and said that I was just calling to confirm that my husband had remembered to make our reservations there and could she please double check. I said to her, you know how men can be so forgetful sometimes. :rolleyes1 Sure enough, she confirmed we were booked there!

I told him what I'd done. He wasn't to thrilled with me, but he wasn't too surprised either. :rotfl: I really cannot stand not knowing!!

So now, do I get mad at Lindsey for doing something I have done? :confused3 I am sad that the surprise of Christmas morning is ruined for her. :(

Hmmm, oh well. I'll have to think about how to handle this I guess. I do want her to know it's not okay to go through my things!! Who knows what she'll find!! :scared1: :rolleyes1 :rotfl2:

Beth, I wouldn't punish her for peeking to find out what her gifts are but I would punish her for going through your private notes. That is an invasion of your privacy and her thinking it's ok to do things like that to you or others is not good. As for her not being surprised at christmas, that is her issue. I peeked once and was so bummed at christmas to not have anything be a surprise that I never peeked again so for me it was a good lesson learned, no punishment needed.

Good luck with your decision.

Sarah

Beth~ Please add me to Jazz Kitchen & Aerials. Thanks.

I am still on the fence about the scavenger hunt.

I hope everyone has a great day.

Deb---please sign up for the scavenger hunt....I think most of us are not so competitive that taking it easy would be a bad choice. Or maybe we can get special privelges....meaning, each team given the opportunity to let one member sit out a bit. I would love to have you on my team.

Cristabel.,...okay, so I am the animal advocate here, but pets really are a luxury and not a right. It seems with Osita and Jingles that providing medical care is a bit of afinancial hardship. YKWIM? A second dog will double vaccines, heartworm prevention , dental cleanings, flea control. Also, have you made your yard secure yet?....a chimichanga dog is awful skinny and can escape through a small opening. Have you considered the coyote issue. I cannot have a tiny dog at my house, we have coyotes in a yard daily. I think they are friends with my dogs.

Beth, I see the apple doesn't fall far from the tree, but I would be pretty mad at my DD if she pulled that. I think private is private, and my DD needs to learn that. I would pull whatever the most favorite gift is (or the second most favorite), and tell her that she wouldn't get it until you felt you could trust that she understands the right to privacy. Then a few days after Christmas hand it over when she does something kind/thoughtful/ of whatever.

But, I am mean, and when my DD snooped after being told not to last year, the toy in question was donated to toys for tots!!

As a kid I snooped once....actually traded info with my brother, and the lack of surprise kind of ruined it for me.

After that I would even wrap my own gifts and not peek...in a plan box.

Are you concerned that your knee will act up? If so, I know there are a few ladies who are going to be taking it easy & not really be competitive. Maybe you can join that team :confused3.

Well that and last time it was pretty exhausting. It was fun but the rest of the day I was pooped!
That is good that your dryer got repaired.

Morning ladies!! :sunny:

Deb, I will add you to those lists. And as for the hunt, you can be on our team. Theresa, Heather, and I plan to just take it easy during the hunt. Heck, you might see us parked on a bench with a corn dog and drink. :rolleyes1 :rotfl:

Kelly, more hugs and well wishes for you!!! Hang in there girl.

TGIF!!!! I am so happy it's Friday! This week seemed to draaaag on and on.
Thanks Beth~

Being on your team would be fine. I just don't want to be running all over the park. Relaxing is more of what I have planned.

Sounds like she comes by it honest! I probably wouldn't punish her (says the woman with no kids) but take the opportunity to explain why it wasn't a good idea to do that and what you COULD do (take away the presents). Then I'd put a password on anything you don't want them seeing!

Absolutely--I wouldn't miss the chance to see you!

I am doing my cards this weekend. Can any US gals tell me how much postage to put on Jen's card?

It's raining here and just lovely. Of course, I hope it stops raining tomorrow night since I'm going to DL for a few hours!

Hope everyone is doing well!

I also want to let you all know that Linda and I are NOT going to Texas next week. I spoke with Sally earlier this week--and I guess the family is going to be pretty scattered all weekend staying with different people and at different places. So she suggested that we wait and go in the spring/summer when we could spend more time with her -- so that's what we decided to do. We also want to go to Rio Doso New Mexico where Dawn loved to go. It's a little artsy community--Dawn wanted to someday open a shop there. So that's what's up with our Texas trip.

Other than that, just working. I haven't put up ANY decorations except I had the guy come and put up my outside lights. Am I a scrooge or what?

Oh oh Oh --Vegas Divas--I had Bailey's and Coffee last night--and may have it again tonight!!!!!

I agree with Cheryl. Or Maybe you could take and exchange a few presents. At least she can be somewhat suprised.

It was .98 (cents) to send Jens card and to peeps up north it was .75 each.

Ok so here is the best one without her crying.
I call this the shocked look.

Hey girls!

Beth, what a sneaky girl you have! I was the same way when I was younger, I wanted to know everything I got. I knew all my parents hiding places. But I think the other divas gave good suggestions, not punish her but just let her know not to do it anymore, especially because that is your private notes.

Oh and Beth, I haven't checked the front page if you saw my post, but can you please take my Mom and I off the list for Jazz Kitchen Friday night? We're going to go to Napa Rose!

Katie, I'm glad it won't cost a fortune to get your dryer fixed!

I'm sending out the last bit of my Christmas cards today.

And I have heart burn right now... From eating a chocolate chip cookie! I know. Bizarre. This is only the second time I've gotten heart burn in my whole life!

Thanks Amy. I am not very competitive either. Well unless it is my children playing sports....:rolleyes1

I am a mean mom like you Amy. I would have done the same thing and and donated the present to Toys for Tots!

Beth, I am so sorry your DD peeked at all her gifts. I am very nosy by nature and have resorted to sneaky plans to find out info. It's also why my job is perfect for me. I have everyone's personnel files and raise history. I know more about all our employees than most of their relatives and friends do! Fortunately I am mature and smart enough to keep my mouth shut!

Breezy did that once when she was about 11 or 12. Opened up every last one. I didn't bust her but she fessed up a few years ago. She said she never peeked at a gift after that year because it ruined her whole Christmas. She regretted it for many years.

Anyway, I was a pretty strict mom and would have probably made her return a few to teach her a lesson. But I think times have changed and I have softened. I think after you make her feel bad she will get enough punishment from her own conscience. Good luck.

Happy Friday Everyone!:yay:

Hi Amy!
My parents have told us they will take care of the dog's medical needs such as shots, grooming, and preventative medicines as well as their normal needs of food and toys. We are responsible for playing with them and exercising them which we are more than happy to do!

My dad fixed the wall and the gates have been secured. Chihuahuas are very small indeed! We used to hear coyotes but they never roamed our neighborhood. Ever since the new shopping center opened up we don't hear them anymore.

I appreciate your concern because that's what good friends do, give the good with the possible bad. We're not sure if we'll be taking this chihuahua but we do want to get a second dog. We'll just have to really think and talk about it before doing anything. Everything happens at its perfect time.

Hmmmm. Where do we stand on the deductible for the car repair??????

Deb- Thanks for posting the picture of Capri. It made me tear up a bit .

Courtney-I just wanted to let you know that the baby loves your card :thumbsup2. She carries it around my it's handle like a little purse.

Hey Beth, could you take me off the Blue Bayou dessert list? Thanks. Also, if you still need someone to call for Carnation Cafe I can do it since the 26th is a Saturday and I am off that day.

Oh cmon -- we want the BAWLING pictures!!!

Stacie--ditto on wanting the weekend to be here. I so did NOT want to get up this morning. And got up late. Then realized (i) it was cleaning lady day and I needed to pick up, and (ii) that I had a meeting at a client's office at 9 a.m. (it was now 7:30 a.m.). Since the cleaning lady was coming and it was raining I couldn't leave Bella home so I left her in the car while I went to my meeting. She was a good doggie--except that one of the people at the client's (the president--who actually is a good friend and my former boss) saw her and made a big deal coming out and saying--"quick--call the police! someone left their dog in their car!!!" It was very funny.

I would really like to be home making cookies or something.

LOL! That sounds like something I would have done. I don't like surprises either. She shouldn't have gotten into your stuff; but now she doesn't have a surprise on Christmas. She already "opened" her gifts by looking early.

Tonight on HGTV at 8:00 is Behind The Magic Disney Holidays. Should be good.:santa:

Anyone know if this is a new one?? I need to set the DVR regardless since we just switched to AT&T Uverse on Monday so everything that was on our previous DVR (Directv) we no longer have.:sad2:

THANKS to all the ladies for the Christmas cards. :grouphug: So far I've received cards from Sarah, Kellie, Angie, Linda, Stacie and Tina. So lovely! I have them hanging on the wall.

All my cards went out today!!:cool1: I have so enjoyed receiving the cards. My kids loved seeing the one from you Jen. It was fun telling them that was the REAL Matterhorn in the background!:thumbsup2

LOVE IT!!!!

We have a babysitter coming over tonight so we can go get some Christmas shopping done. :thumbsup2 We really have just the "hard" people left, like my parents and in-laws. I am doing a personalized calendar from Shutterfly but I like to give them a little something else also.

Talk with you all later.:santa:

Hey Sarah, enjoy your cruise!!!

I had great plans to do a lot of prep work for my jobs this weekend, and I failed miserably! I was just feeling lazy and got about half of what I wanted to done. I did, however, watch the movie Bride Wars, and it was pretty cute, actually. I'm thinking that I'll just make cookies and/or fudge tonight and start fresh on the work stuff tomorrow.

Happy Friday, everybody!!!!!!!

I just realized there is something missing from our schedule. The Billys!!!!!!

If anybody is interested in a group visit to the Billys, here are some options that I came up with after looking at our scheduled activities, keeping in mind that we would want to meet as the previous show ends so we can get in and swoop up the first rows:

Friday--4:00 or 5:15 show
Saturday--5:15 show
Sunday--1:00. 2:30. or 4:00 show

Any thoughts?

It was a busy day as we had our office holiday brunch/white elephant exchange this morning and then I was on a retreat with one of the student groups I advise from lunch until after 5 tonight. Both were fun, but now I am exhausted!

Anyhow, I just wanted to report that my Christmas cards went into the mail this morning and now should be headed towards all of you within the US borders. The other three are all addressed, but will not hit the mail until Monday morning when Dave makes a post office run.

Tomorrow we have our normal Gymboree class in the morning, but my hope is to hit Princess & the Frog after nap time. And then, of course, it's lunch (and perhaps a little shopping) with Amy & Beth on Sunday!

Have a great weekend everyone and super good luck to all who are participating in Mouse Adventures!
