Deb-:hug::hug::hug::hug::hug::hug:. Take care of yourself and get better soon. Hope they released you from the hospital so you don't have to have hospital food for Thanksgiving . My prayers are with you :flower3:.

Hospital food isn't that bad. I spent the first 10 years of my career working on Thanksgiving. And the food that was served in the hospital that day was yummy! But I do hope Deb doesn't have to spend it in the hospital though.

I agree, but I think it depends on the hospital. The hospital I had my first 2 kids at actually had really good food. They even gave us filet mignon & grilled shrimp with campaign (or sparkling cider since I wasn't 21 yet) one night for a congratulations dinner.

However, the hospital that I had Laila at had horrible food :scared:. I'm not picky, but the food was almost inedible. Thank God I was only there for 2 days.

Hi Divas!

I know I have been very absent from this thread...but I have been thinking about all of you, especially with the passing away of our beloved Dawn. I appreciate your friendship and for your FB messages. I really need to make more time for you guys.

I am looking at the sign-ups for everything...I am not sure what to sign up for since I am not sure what dates I will be able to attend. I will sign up for everything I want and then if I can't go to that particular meal or event, I will just cancel. I hope that's okay. :)

I hope you all have a wonderful Thanksgiving!!!:goodvibes

HAPPY THANKSGIVING DIVAS!

Katie~ I have to agree with Stacie, the hospital food hasn't been that bad. Only breakfast has been well ehh..lunch yesterday was lasagna (Stouffers I think) it was good. Dinner was pork tenderloin and red potatoes, it was pretty good.

I am just waiting to get released!
I want/need a shower!!!
I have sticky tape everywhere.

Now we are trying to figure out what to do today? Maybe pizza and the movies.

I hope everyone enjoys the day with their
families.

Hi girls. All that food sounds yummy.
I hope everyone is having a great day.

Yay Capri for hot water!!!
Mel~ sounds like the party was great.

Cheryl- I had planned on going to Dawns celebration but this morning I had to cancel my flight.

So I have some bad news.
I had a miscarriage Monday night/ Tuesday morning. I lost a lot of blood. I had to have a D & C last night there was tissue stuck in my cervix and the pain was horrible. My hemoglobin was a 6. So I also got a blood transfusion.
This morning it was a 7 so I am now getting my 3rd bag of blood.
The pain has gone away with the help of my friend Demerol.

I hope everyone has a great day!
 I am so sorry Deb. I am just sooo sorry.

I am so sorry, Deb!! What else can happen to our group??? Or maybe I shouldn't ask!

DON'T ASK!!!!

Deb, my heart is with you and I am so sorry that you had to endure such a painful loss again. But, Stacie--Let's not go there, okay??? I'm not big on tempting the gods :rotfl2:

All this food talk has me drooling and is my my stomach growl!

I am cooking for just the three of us tomorrow. One of my colleagues was supposed to join us as she is all alone out here, but we had a bit of a personal and professional falling out last week, and that's not going to happen now. Sadly she is leaving Las Vegas in just a few weeks for a new job elsewhere and I am afraid that our friendship is never going to recover :scared: I know that I should be the bigger person and that eventually I will be able to forgive, forget and move on, but right now I'm still hurting personally and trying to do damage control to my professional reputation, so I'm just too raw still if ykwim.

Anyhow, I am doing a turkey breast, mashed potatoes, sage & sausage stuffing (dressing if you want to be technical as it will be cooked separate from the turkey), and spinach crunch (the speciality of the house on my side of the family). Dave will make mac 'n cheese and at my request he is attempting a pecan pie for the first time instead of our traditional pumpkin pie.

I usually make my own rolls too, but found delicious looking ones at Wal-mart that look like miniatures of the yummy brown bread from Cheesecake Factory. I can't wait to try them and I hope that they will be good 'cause that's like my favorite bread on the planet.

Oh, and it may be silly since there are really only two adults in the house, but I will also be doing a cranberry spiked punch to drink. My family always had some sort of alcoholic punch or slush with every holiday and somehow I can't imagine the day going by without a drink in hand while I'm cooking!

Tonight will likely just be pizza, as I can't bear the thought of needing to cook tonight given that most of the day tomorrow will be spent in the kitchen.

Hope that everyone's holiday is magical and special. Despite all the losses we have had in recent times there is still so much to be thankful for and I count my blessing every day.

 I hope things get better real soon! I did a pecan pie yesterday...it baked so funny! It puffed up in the middle and seemed to "break" and when I stuck an knife in it the knife came out with pie juice on it...it just didn't see to want to set up. Once I took it out of the oven it calmed down and looks ok but we will have to see tonight when we cut it open if it really is alright!

Oh, and on a happy note, I got the PIN code that I had been hoping for and I was able to upgrade from staying at a value resort (which I don't really mind given how much time we tend to spend at the parks vs the hotel) to a moderate for a grand total of $6 more than our initial quote. This is factoring in the cost a preferred room at a value and the fact that we would have paid $10 extra for a refrigerator during each night of our 8 night stay.

Thus, we will be at PO French Quarter for our trip in May instead of All Star Sports. We have stayed at PO Riverside before and it was beautiful and idyllic, but I am looking forward to the smaller resort size of French Quarter and having beignets at my disposal every morning! I also think that Ty will get a kick out of seeing the sea serpent slide, although it means I am going to have my work cut out for me trying to keep him off of it.

Woo Hoo! Beignets! YUMMO!

Cheryl thanks for the update. I was worried about Sally. Do you know how Bob and the kids and grandkids are doing?

Tracey I hope you are feelingbetter.

Hi ladies I am staying another night in the hospital.
The pain is under control now. My Hemiglobin is at a 9.5. That is a lot bettr than the 6.

I hope everyone is having a great day.

Thanks everyone for the Get Well msgs.

Glad to hear things are getting better! You are in my thoughts and prayers!

Happy Thanksgiving all! I am working but only a single so I will get to have a little thanksgiving with Mom tonight and start my christmas decorating. I need to use every minute I can because I am working so much and have so many things going on this coming week. I work a double tomorrow (do you have any idea how many people cross the border into the US on Black Friday?) and we are shopping at Carters outlet on Saturday after Mahjonng and before Chuck E Cheese where we are going to celebrate my ds learning to write his name! Now if he could just figure out how to snap his pants and tie his shoes we will be set for Kindergarten next year!

Happy Thanksgiving!

Sarah

Happy Thanksgiving to my wonderful Diva friends!

I have so many things to be thankful for: my wonderful, loving family, my amazing daughter, our health, Florida rain, Mr. CA and his children, no snow winters, and I am especially thankful for ALL of you and for knowing Dawn even if it was for a short while.

Have a fabtabulous day with your families and hug them tight!

You make and actually LIKE a bread pudding that's custard like.....and with RAISINS?!! Hmmmmmmm, you're throwing me for a loop with this.
Oh no. I make it with raisins, but I don't eat them. I pick them out. ;)

Sounds so good, Beth! :thumbsup2
I've been making this since 1998 and everyone loves it, even those not a fan of traditional bread pudding.

Now that I said that, watch everyone here hate it. :lmao: To me, it's just ok. I'm not a bread pudding fan. :confused3 I'm only going by what I've been told. So unless everyone was just kissing my butt........... it must be good. And it's easy to make. I had one lady beg for the recipe. I gave it to her and when she made it she said it didn't taste as good as mine. As if I was holding out on her. LOL I follow it as it reads. Don't change anything. I think she just wanted me to keep making it for her. :rotfl:

IF you cannot get a vanilla bean, you can just use vanilla. I just dump some in there. Kind of eyeball it. And I've used Texas toast in place of challah bread and it's been ok.

Disney's Contemporary Resort Bread Pudding
Ladies Home Journal March 1998 - Disney's Contemporary Resort, Orlando, FL

1 1/4 cups granulated sugar, divided
1/2 teaspoon cinnamon
1 day-old challah bread or other egg
bread (cut into 1/2-inch cubes)
1/4 cup butter or margarine, melted
1/3 cup raisins
8 large eggs, lightly beaten
1 quart half-and-half
1 vanilla bean, split lengthwise
Whipped cream (optional)

Heat oven to 400 degrees F. Grease a 13 x 9-inch baking dish.

Combine 1/4 cup sugar and cinnamon in cup.

Toss bread, melted butter, raisins and cinnamon-sugar mixture in large bowl to coat. Spread in prepared pan.

Whisk eggs lightly in large bowl. Bring cream, remaining 1 cup sugar and vanilla bean to boil in medium saucepan. Carefully remove vanilla bean; cool slightly. Scrape seeds from bean with small spoon. Stir seeds into cream mixture. Discard bean. Gradually whisk cream mixture into eggs; pour over bread. Place dish in large roasting pan. Add enough hot water to come halfway up side of baking dish. Bake pudding 35 to 40 minutes, until custard is set and top is golden brown. Cool on wire rack. Serve WARM or at room temperature, with whipped cream.

I just think that this song reminds me of how precious and short life really is and esp with today being thanksgiving we should all be so thankful for all the blessings in our life no matter how small and never take ONE thing or day for granted. Happy Thanksgiving all and have a WONDERFUL holiday!
Here, here!

I'm going to have a bit of a spa day today (well, half a spa day). It's still raining buckets, so I'm not bothering to get a pedicure - who will see anyway??
That sounds nice.

Hope they released you from the hospital so you don't have to have hospital food for Thanksgiving . My prayers are with you :flower3:.
Yeah, that wouldn't be good. Although when I was in the hospital I liked the food. Or maybe I just liked not having to cook and clean up. lol

HAVING YOU ALL AS MY FRIENDS :hug::hug:.
ME TOO!!!! I am so lucky to know such a great group of ladies. Thank goodness for bored evenings and crazy ideas. Otherwise I might not have had the pleasure of meeting you all. And I cannot imagine that. :grouphug:

Sarah I am so glad to see that you put your black bananas in the freezer too! Mr. CA thinks I'm crazy to have black frozen bananas! ;) I just told him, ha...I am not the only one with bananas in my freezer!!

Happy Thanksgiving to you and your precious family!

Theresa, have a great half-spa day!!

RDJr has really made a big comeback from his drug abuse days and is an awesome actor. I'm excited to see Sherlock Holmes; he and Jude law look like a great pairing.

I'm excited for Ironman 2 but I'm bummed they replaced Terrence Howard.
]

Yes, a shame. He was asking for too much money and making too many demands. Jude Law is a wonderful Watson and they do make a good pair.

I
My bread pudding recipe is also a kicked up version of Ohana's. And I make the sauce with Rum in it.

Yum. I used to have a N.O. recipe, I think it used some other alcohol...I will look.
