Girls Only Trip ~ OLD Thread, see link in first post for new one

Okay, I lied. There is more for the group to do/think about this weekend. In addition to the items listed in my earlier post, we also need to pin point a group photo location.

We've done the castle, we've done the Mickey when you first walk in. Both turned out lovely. Nothing wrong with doing either one of those again. I'd be okay with that.

BUT if anyone else has any ideas of a new, good photo op location that will easily accommodate 35-40 ladies, and will not be too far from the start location of the scavenger hunt which takes place right after, PLEASE share. Thank you!!


Also calling those ladies in the "Mother/Daughter Club".

I know at one point y'all talked about taking a group photo together. Maybe in the interest of saving time and sanity that could be done immediately following the group pic since you will all already be in the same area, at the same time.
Or at least close by. For example, if the group photo is in front of the castle, you could all quickly walk over to the Snow White wishing well and take one there.

It's up to you though how you want to organize that, just throwing out ideas.

Also there was talk of the mothers and daughters all wearing something matchy. If you did it the day of the group photo/hunt, you would already be wearing matching tees, and then you could just easily add a matching accessory such as a hat or whatnot. So that's something y'all should discuss amongst yourselves and see what you can come up with.

The pics are all going to be great no matter what and I cannot wait to see them!!!

I've never listened to the party lines on mainstreet! Must do.

I've also never had Magicale. I KNOW that is a must do.

I've still never seen the Billy and the Hillbillies show. Must do.

I've never been on TOT at Disneyland. Not really a must do.

I've never seen the Billy & the Hillbillies show either. It's always the other show that's going on the day I go. (seen the one where they play bachelor game a few times now though).

Ok--I haven't read very far back--I just got home from having a glass of Magicale at the Grand Cal with Jen, Donna, Vicki, Mary Jo, Katie (and Laila!), Jill, and Jen's good friend Kristen (who is a hoot and totally needs to be a Diva--she LOVES Disneyland!) We had a great time and it was good to see everyone. the gals who went into the parks today said it was pretty busy.

I'm pretty tired too and am going to bed but wanted to check in and say "hi"--Jen seems to be enjoying her adventure to Switzerland despite some differences (like you have to pay per the bag to throw out trash!)

She bought some yummy looking cupcakes at the new kiosk but I haven't tried mine yet.

Having gone through this earlier this year, my answer was to order from the internet - great savings that way. Do you know what kind of couch you want? A sectional? One with recline?

I guess I mostly want someone else to make the decision. Dark Brown leather, no recline, no extra seams/buttons/scrolls to collect crumbs and hair, Cushions firmer than about 90% of the couches I have sat upon, not so deep that you get swallowed. So, hard to tell all that online. Particularly the softness. I hate the whole dead cow side of leather. Actually GROSSES me out, but I never sit on the couch, and leather makes sense with the kid/pets. I think.


He sounds like my little Farley (who follows me too... but poor guy is sick... hopefully getting better).

You have a cat named Farley? I love that. I work with a rabbit and a lab both named Farley. The bunny was named after me.

I forgot everything I wanted to say, but I think that Beth is telling to quit working & school so I can hangout on the DIS, Jill loved her first class of Magicale , yesterday at work I quoted Sixteen Candles all day (after seeing the Las Vegas thread...),Cristabel is being a good sister & we have PS's for breakfast-yummy!, AmySue needs a new couch (so do I, I love my Lazy Boy reclining couch, I would get another one), Sarah May & I both like shopping for houses (where is that money tree I planted?? damn brown thumb, i prolly forgot to water it), I get to live at DL & Court's gonna be my roomie, Stacie is loving her new job, Stacielee is thinking of going to WDW (so are we, we have a free wk in our timeshare so we can stay at Bonnet Creek, or Hawaii....), I still need my vavoom Tie Dye shirt, and oh and I am taking German in school & while I study, I am teaching the boys.

Wow, deep breath Deb. I took German in high school and in college. That was very many years ago, sadly. I was able to understand the wait staff at the Biergarten when they were chit chatting, but couldn't say a sentence to save my llife!!!



The only thing new today is I think I don't need a couch. My DH got back in town yesterday and we went to a couple stores. Nope, maybe not. Ugh. Why do I hate the whole thing so much. My house is all IKEA since I cannot commit to real furniture.

Hello ladies! Our trip is going to be here before you know it, and I am so ready!
Marty's back is finally getting better. He stayed down Mon-Wed, and then he went to help me with our Thursday catering job. Thankfully we had an extra volunteer, so I had two people to help me serve and bus the tables once Marty pooped out. Tomorrow is our 17th anniversary, and we are going to our friends' house for a crab feed to celebrate with all our besties. It sure is nice to have a great friend with his own fishing boat. He will pull the crab pots right out of the ocean tomorrow, and we'll be eating it within hours! So yummy!

Wow, that fresh crab sounds FANTASTIC!!! I am jealous! Hope you have a wonderful anniversary!

Well finally got a day off to work on the house and pick up decorations and put away. Going to work on turning some glass vases into zebra print for the party and a football board meeting and Katie is cheering for basketball tonight. Another full day. Wish I could find sometime to lay in bed and watch movies, oh well they keep me young at heart.

It has been so windy here for the last 3 days I keep thinking I am going to see houses flying by but not yet. I have found many colorful roof shingles in my yard and watched someones Christmas tree travel past my house. The good news is we haven't lost any trees and I am so surprised none have come down for being on a high wind warning for such a long period of time. I get quite the workout of the arms when I drive anywhere with the big gust of winds.

I really would like to try a glass of Magicale. Can you buy it by the bottle to go? And can you get it anywhere else besides Napa Rose?

Yes, Farley is a Pixie-Bob breed. DH is not allergic to him, but is to most mixes. I just wish we could stop the vomiting.

I shopped in person to sit on couches and then finalized it over the internet. My house is also Ikea - great for desks and stuff but not couches (as you've probably figured out).

I haven't even taken down my Christmas tree yet - another to do for the weekend.

I don't know about the bottles of Magicale in the park/hotels, but you can buy a glass of it at the tasting counter in DCA (it's right by the entrance to the Wine Co. Trattoria restaurant). I made Erin buy one the last time we were there. We just spent a good 15 min sitting at one of the outside tables, watching people and sipping our Magicale. It was awesome!

I don't think it's been posted. I just assumed, dangerously so, that it would be at the same location as last time, the start of Main Street. But I could be wrong. Mel? Do you know?

Is the Rivers of America going to open? I thought I'd heard it was going to be blocked off for refurbishments but I don't really keep up with that so maybe someone else can comment for sure. If not, that would be pretty.

Magicale is only at DL, DCA and WDW (not sure about the other parks). Don't waste your time looking for it anywhere else or online. There is one shipper in Hawaii that Theresa found but I think they can only ship to Hawaii so she did not use them.

You can buy a bottle while at DL but the policy is to escort you to your car to be sure you will not drink it in the park or at dtd etc. I forget the price per glass but it is about half as much if you order a bottle and share.

It is so special, down to the last drop.

I'm pretty sure the Rivers of America is going to be drained when we are there.

A group photo in front of Small World would be really pretty. We haven't done that yet. Do they do photos in front of Small World? I can't remember. Of course, we don't know where we'll need to meet for the start of the scavenger hunt yet, so I guess we should wait until we hear from Melody before deciding on a location.

I like all yall's suggestions and mom and I are up for whatever you guys decide. As for the mom and daughter pics if any of the other mom's and daughters want to "talk" I will be happy to go with the flow on whatever you guys decide. It will be nice to have a pic like that though. One thing I noticed form looking at last years pics as how much we all look like our moms!

And mom and I were talking at lunch and we HAVE to try some magicale this trip. NEVER tried it and want to do that! Def added to the list of must do's for this trip!

I'm back from work and just waiting to pick up the girls from school. I'm glad I don't have to go anwhere tonight. Orig it was our cookie ralley for girl scouts to kick off cookie sales but luckily it got cancelled cuz it is raining and ugly! I feel like I am living in Washington again. I haven't seen the sun all week. It has been grey and overcast and COLD all week! BLEH! I am used to it though. It was like that 9 months straight up there

I can't wait to get the girls and come back and get in my snugglie pj's and not leave the house again! Only wish we could have a fire!! We have a fireplace but we need to get the chimney swept before we can have a fire. LUCKILY we got our heater fixed!!!!

Anywho this is so much fun talking all this planning albeit a little overwhelming I must admit. I feel like I am going to miss or forget something. Esp since I am having to relay everything back to mom and we have yet to talk to barb. We just made the executive decision on our candy and are going to pick some up for her. But we still need to get our black shirts, get them ironed on, work on our name tags for the scavy hunt, print the tags for the lanyards, get our pillowcases and god only knows what else. I feel like I am going to forget something!! EEK!

Oh well hopefully not!
