I have to decide what I'm going to do with myself this summer. My oldest daughter moved in with her dad about a month or so ago, and next weekend I'm taking my youngest down to Modesto to stay with her grandma. We had bad news on the day I returned from DLR, her grandmother's husband (who she is very close to, he taught her to drive, takes her on bike rides, fishing, camping etc) was in a mountain bike accident. He's in a coma and has a broken neck and back, he's not expected to survive. She's really having a hard time, and has asked to go down so she can talk to him and perhaps have an effect on his possible recovery (there have been some developments over the last two days that have given us some hope). I told her that we will prepare for the worst, but hope for the best, medical miracles do happen.

So she's going to be down there helping her grandma out and keeping her company. And I'm going to be here in this big old house all by myself. I wish I could go south a few more times, but I can't afford that again right away and I might just start working again soon, so no trips in my near future. I will have to paint the guest room and the bathrooms and organize the garage I guess.

I'm going to sit here and worry about Ron and my kiddo because she's never dealt with any kind of tragedy before. And try to keep busy.
What a tragic accident. :sad1: I'm so sorry for your daughter and the rest of the family. It's not easy losing a parent/grandparent, or seeing them incapacitated. Hopefully your DD will be a ray of hope for recovery.

Good morning ladies!:goodvibes

It's nice to see some of you around here again! :grouphug:

Today I am finally getting around to replanting my annuals. I am super late this year, due to keeping the others in until the graduation party. :guilty: Four flats are staring at me, and saying... "Would you just plant us already!" I like to be outside in the garden when it is sunny and happy, but today the weather is lousy. I'm hoping to see some rays peeking through the clouds at some point. :thumbsup2 Whatever.... It needs to get done, so I will put on my sweatshirt. :rolleyes1

I am sad, cuz Cheryl is not coming after all. Her plans got cancelled. :sad2:

Have a wonderful weekend! :flower3:

Heather - so sorry to hear about the bike accident. I think your DD is wonderful so sending time with her grandma and gm's husband. Hopefully her presence will comfort them both.

Pretty quite around here this weekend. Finally got my ressies for our July trip. Doing dinner at Cathay Circle for WoC dining and the chef's counter at Napa Rose for the first time! Can't wait!

Happy memorial day. And a big

:thanks:

to all who have served or are serving our country!

Heather I am so sorry to hear about your family tragedy. Bless your daughter for going to be with her grandparents.

Yay Trudi. I hope you have a great visit to DLR on the 2nd. I'm with you, I avoided the parks this weekend. I'm sure the crowds will be out in force. I just don't enjoy or tolerate crowds like I used to.

Driving to So Cal this morning .... hope to make it to DL on Wednesday! :goodvibes
Where's the 'like' button? Have a great time. Are you going on your own, or will you be enjoying the parks with family and friends?

It's the first Saturday I haven't had to work since January. Yipee. I'm off to the farmers market, and doing some errands. The sun is barely peeking out, but it should be nicer than yesterday when it rained .. uh sprinkled ... uh heavy misted... well the ground got damp anyway! And it was enough to really make my car look dirty. *sigh* time to wash that car, I guess.

Hope everyone has a great weekend!

Sorry that you and your daughter are going through that loss. It is so hard to see our kiddos hurting! It sounds like being there is the right thing for her and hopefully even if he doesn't make it, she will have gotten to say goodbye.

Hi Steph! Nice to see you. I'm not around here that much either. Life is just so darn busy and I am over on the dark side most of the time...

I know there is more I wanted to respond to but darn if I can remember. But anyhoo....hello to all, and happy memorial day. I am just staying home this year since we are camper free.

Thank you, everyone. Right now we're just waiting for school to end. I'm pretty sure I'm not going to make it to the July trip with my parents, but I can't bear to delete the ticker just yet!

Everyone have a safe weekend, we're staying in. We might just grill a tri tip on Monday after we visit the Veteran's Cemetery.

I told her that we will prepare for the worst, but hope for the best, medical miracles do happen.

 Our thoughts are with you and your family.

It's nice to see some of you around here again! :grouphug:

:goodvibes Politely kicking our diva behinds, wake up to realize that without posting here .. we wouldn't have the wonderful ladies in our lives to count as friends. Thank you for the reminder Melody! :flower3:

Another rainy day here, very typical for Memorial weekend - everyone cheers Hurrah it's almost summer! Drive "up north to the cabin" or haul out the boats.. eager to greet summer. Typical MN weather -- rain, dreary, cold. Ugh! Another long weekend down the tubes. :sad2:

Happens just about every year and yet we forget every year! :lmao:

We have the usual crowd of teenagers taking over the living room with shouts, a few curses and game noise mayhem. We are now in the lull before the storm, they went off somewhere.. POOF. Soaking up those last moments before some go off to college in the fall.

Happy Saturday, ladies! Hope everyone's enjoying their weekend so far. :)

She'll be 17 on October 25th. She had a good time at WDW in February, but since then whenever I bring up any kind of trip (even ones she's been dying to do) she says she'd rather not go.
Ah, that explains it. I think it's something about that age! By the way, my birthday is October 24. Yay for October birthdays. :thumbsup2

I don't know if you saw my post a while back. I tried to edit the photo you posted, but it wouldn't let me. I did find this one in your TR that you posted. Let me know if this is fine to add to the front page.

We don't have buses where I live. I'd have to make it about 5 miles to the next city to catch a bus.
Oh, well, that would suck. One nice thing about here, is there is plenty of public transportation. Of course, you'll run into some real characters on the bus!!! :rolleyes1

eeeek, family drama day with the in-laws. Not sure why, but anytime I try to plan something it turns into this big messy thing. Resulting in a flurry of phone calls, puzzling moments of "huh?" and a few tears followed by "it's okay, we will work this out" and "love you - even though you are driving me NUTS!" :faint:
Had hubby chat it out with his family, reassure everyone that yes we can cancel the hotel if it doesn't work out. And hey, if all else fails, we have two hotel rooms to use for ourselves on fourth of july. ;) ;)
Bernice, that was exhausting just reading about it. LOL

Glad it's the weekend. I am exhausted. Me and the kitties are hanging out and relaxing. And I am having wine, lots of wine. Brianne is in Vegas with her friends. Such is the life of a young, single, fun gal!;)

Spent last weekend in DL and it was a mad house. I have a feeling it's going to be like that for awhile.
Hi Linda. Next time, come with Brianne, and then you and I can hang out! ;)
Oh, and I think you are right about DL. It's probably going to be a zoo for a long time to come!

Evening ladies.

Welcome to all those who haven't joined us in years past and that are hoping to attend the upcoming trip.

I feel out of the loop on this thread as to who is who and I know it's because I haven't been here a great deal (if at all) since the last trip. My goal is to catch up this weekend on all the past posts.
Hi Steph, good to see ya here! :goodvibes

I am so sorry to hear that. What an awful tragedy.

We're staying home, it's just not worth it to go away and fight the crowds anymore. When hub and I were much younger we just couldn't wait to get away for a long weekend. Getting old I guess.
Hi Trudi, we are old here, too. No desire to go anywhere. :thumbsup2

I am sad, cuz Cheryl is not coming after all. Her plans got cancelled. :sad2:
Hi, Mel. I'm sorry she's not going to make it after all. That's too bad.

Sounds fun, Bridget!!! :cool1:

Safe travels, Linda!

Wow, that's a long time. Enjoy your day, Chris!! :)

Tonight Adam is off with his friends hanging out, and Noelle is out with one of her friends. Ah, teenagers. When did they grow up????

Hello everyone! Nice to see more people on here. I've mostly just been lurking. Since I don't really know everyone, sometimes I just don't know what to say.

I am an October girl too! My birthday is the 5th. :)

Hope everyone is having a good weekend! ;)

I hope everyone is having a great Memorial Day weekend so far. I know I am (I'm sure anyone who's seen me on facebook knows that though ...;))

That one is just fine. Thanks!

Hello everyone. This weekend is flying by!! The weather here has been awesome so far though, so that's one good thing. :)

Hi Andrea. Yay for another October baby! :cool1:
Don't be shy though. Just come blabber away like I do. lol
By the way, I love the photos from your TR. Especially of Epcot. So pretty.

You're a wild woman Miss Jessica! It's all Rochelle's fault, right? :smokin: LOL!!

That one is just fine. Thanks!
OK, I added you to the front page so now you are official! No backing out now. ;)

If anyone else needs their photo added to the front page, just let me know. Thanks!!

Woohoo! Now I'll just have to make it work! I'm trying to drag my best friend and her mom south with me before they move to Tennessee, but they're being stubborn. They insist we can go to WDW when I visit them, but it's not the same!

Beth, glad to hear your weather is behaving :thumbsup2 Ours was too yesterday but now it is back to being meh.

Ok, I am such a procrastinator, as I have been meaning to do this for a long time. I just sent you a photo on FB. I am hoping you are able to grab it and post it on the front page. This was quite a feat for me. :faint: I am slightly challenged when it entails technology. ;)

Hi to all the Divas :wave2: Hope everyone is having a good weekend!
