Coming from San Diego, we cheat the first day and sleep in. I call it our easy day. My DH disagrees and says that he doesn't notice anything easy about it.

We get to a park by 9 or 9:30. That is taking it easy, no?

We also always start our first day by doing the Behind the Seeds Tour at EPCOT.

Taking a scheduled tour in a greenhouse is totally stopping and smelling the roses in my book.

Now I want to go to WDW too.

DL is far more attainable with the AP in my wallet.

I want to take the Behind the Seeds tour some time. Living with the Land is one of my favorite exhibits at EPCOT. I miss WDW. :sad1: I have an AP there, and visited a lot when my DD was there last spring in the CP, but airfare is just crazy this time of year. My DS is still in school so we have to work around his breaks. Plus, it is so much quicker to get to DL. BTW, San Diego is a beautiful place to live. You are so lucky. I've never met a person that lived in San Diego that didn't like it there... I live in Seattle. Rainy, rainy, more rainy. 'Nuff' said.

I am kinda wishing I would have talked to you guys before making my plans for our first trip there! I hope we make out with the ones I've made!

I just don't remember being impressed with the place/room. Their elevators aren't the most reliable things in the world and I was not a happy camper last year when the elevator nearest our room was down. The rooms are also tiny and I wouldn't consider more than 1 roommate if I did stay there somehow. I barely slept while I was there because the beds were very uncomfortable. It was great for having a place to stay last year, but I doubt it would ever be something I choose.

I agree that the rooms are small, but since I can't share a bed, we've always been 2 to a room, so it's not terrible. I don't have a problem with the beds, the only hotel down there whose beds I could not sleep on was Quality Inn. Usually by the time I hit the mattress at Disney I can sleep on just about anything, including a sofabed at Best Western, but Quality Inn's bed left me tossing and turning a LOT. The only other hotel I've ever had an issue with was Ramada Main Gate, but that was YEARS ago (1988), so I guess I shouldn't hold it against them any more. LOL

Howdy folks...Charlene here!!! New to the Dis Diva's but not to DISNEY!!!:cool1

DH is in the Air Force and Travis AFB is where we call home at the moment.

We have 4 kids; a 15yo ds, 13yo ds, 11yo ds and 8 (going on 30)yo dd!!!

Grew up in San Diego and went to DL alot as a kid, even went for GradNight '89!!:woohoo:

Hi Charlene! We just drove past you there in Fairfield about two hours ago! LOL We were down at Chevy's there by the Mall for Happy Hour for a 21st birthday. It was fun.

I agree, Andrea. It is a great benefit. I got a lot done in that extra hour...

I got more done in that hour than I did most of the rest of the weekend! LOL

All caught up and off to bed. Good night, Divas!

Good night, Lisa and other Divas. It is way too late. I need to call it a night too.

I liked how rope drop was on Sat. Ropes at each land entrance rather than on Mainstreet. Is this brand new? Works good for people who want to get to a certain ride.

I believe they started to do this when the Jolly Holiday Bakery opened up. The old way they did Rope Drop would mean people couldn't get food there. I could be wrong, however.

ROPE DROP 2013!!!!

I love rope drop! I didn't go my usual route this year of having to be the first one at the gates, but that was mostly because of my sore hip and it was more of a "relaxing" trip for me this time around.

I know that Cynthia, Nicole and Becci were interested in doing the villa again next year, so Jen and Jessica you might want to see if they want to do that with you. I decided that I am not going to try to rent points again with the point increase. Plus it is likely that I will not be able to come next year with the new dates so I don't want to commit to anything.

I finally started getting my voice back a couple of days ago, but I am still dragging. Beth, keep me posted on the plan for Oct. 19; Lisa and I will be there and want to meet up with everyone!

Glad you got your voice back! Mine is still pretty much gone, but I din't start to lose it until the last day. I hope you're able to make it next year, but I'll keep that in mind about Cynthia, Nicole, and Becci. We might be able to make it work.

Ah yes, Belle Ella. You're up here in Nor. Cal. right? Aren't you related to someone here on the boards as well?

I'm just on the other side of the Benicia Bridge ;) No relations on here that I know of though. My ex-best friend was on here with me for a few years until we stopped talking to one another.

Good morning, ladies!! TGIF!! :cool1:  :yay: :woohoo:
Anyone have any fun plans for the weekend?

I've never met a person that lived in San Diego that didn't like it there... I live in Seattle. Rainy, rainy, more rainy. 'Nuff' said.
When my husband and I were dating, back in high school, we always said we'd move to San Diego. We loved it there and would take frequent weekend trips to the area. But we never did. Now, you're the one I'm jealous of!! I love the rain! I'd move to the PNW in a heartbeat. We only stay here because I have two kids in high school, junior and sophomore, but once they graduate, we are outta here.

I agree that the rooms are small, but since I can't share a bed, we've always been 2 to a room, so it's not terrible.
I cannot share a bed either. I've done it before, but now the only person I can sleep with is my husband. I have restless leg syndrome, which means I move and kick a lot. So unless someone wants to end up black and blue, they should not get into my bed.

Horray for dates!! We orig hadn't planned on going next year because of Katy's b-day trip in Jan but now mom is saying she wants to see if we can make it work. So as usual won't know for sure till much later but excited that it is at least a possibility!!

Thanks for the info on Transformers as well. We are going to Univ for a day on our Jan trip and that will be fun! I can't wait till the open the Harry Potter section. We LOVE that in Orlando!

I am looking forward to a relaxing weekend after a busy vacay week and then I had a lot of stuff to do this week as well. Shelby has her last basketball game saturday and next week she has school pics so a haircut is in order this weekend. I also have to go get my crown at the dentist (BLEH!!) next week so dreading that.

Hope everyone has a great day and weekend! :)

Love the chatter and seeing more new Divas....Love it!

Who was going? And um, wait, shouldn't they have gone today?? :rotfl: What we wanted to see was Thurs and Fri crowds a week later, which is this week. We already know to expect crowds on a weekend so that won't tell us anything. What we wanted to know is if we'll catch a break during the week, right?? Or am I mistaken? :confused3
Usually we have a bit of a slow time on Thurs and Fri to ease into the crowds. This time, it was packed every single day.

I was there last night and while it wasn't packed, it was crowded, but I think that was just overflow from Leap Day.

I already posted all the historic crowd levels and such from Touring Plans on FB and the 2/27-3/3 dates should definitely be less crowded than the prior weekend!!

I seriously doubt I will be using my points to book a villa at the Grand, but hey things can change...but doubt it.

I'm supposed to meet Kerri tonight at DL, but I just found out Devin has some football thing going on so I probably won't make it. I'll be there tomorrow and I'll ask Kerri how the Friday crowds were :thumbsup2.

Fun plans? Lets see, I'm planning on my next trip which looks like April 1st. That's the date my grandbaby is due, no use sitting at home waiting, might as well wait in my happy place! Also I want to get some of those Easter Eggs. They were really good last year.
I can share a bed with Sarah but no one else. lol
We had 3 in our room and that worked out fine. Rochelle came back to the room in the wee hours of the morning to get her stuff to leave Sat. night/Sun. morn and I didn't even hear her. Where were you Rochelle? DL closed hours earlier!!! :rotfl:

Stopping to check in before heading to bed. Too much to comment on, but I did want to welcome our newest member!

Hi Charlene!! Welcome to the group. :welcome: :welcome:

My name is Beth. I've been married for 18 years to my high school sweetie. We also have 4 kids, my son Adam is 17, daughter Noelle is 15, and twins Lindsey and Hannah are 11.

I was born in MI but grew up from a young age in SoCal. First the L.A./Eagle Rock area, then Glendale, then Burbank. I graduated in '89 as well! And yes, went to my GradNight at Disneyland. :thumbsup2

Glad to have you on board! :goodvibes

How weird is that? We probably sat next to each other on Space Mt. on something:lmao:

Thanks for the welcome.

Hi!! I'm not sure if I met you or not. There were a few new faces that I don't think I got a chance to talk with. I've been running a day care in my home for 30 years which is why I can get on here so often. Nap time, coloring time, lunch time etc. :rotfl:
On a Sunday morning I can get to DL in 1 hour 20 minutes! That's leaving at 6:00 am. A little longer on Sat. but going home takes close to 2 hours.

Hiya! My dh noticed that this was new as well. He remembers being one of those crazy kids running to Space Mt. after the roped dropped from way back on MainStreet.
With the change it does make it easier for "jockeying positioning" to your favorite land ;)

That would make sense.

So what is your route to DL? We have to take HW 12 and it totally freaks me out!!

Good morning, ladies!! TGIF!! :cool1:  :yay: :woohoo:
Anyone have any fun plans for the weekend?

No plans around here. My dh has his RDO (regular day off) so that's when I get to the commissary. FUN FUN!! I hate grocery shopping

Sounds good. Then we can get things settled once and for all. :rotfl: :thumbsup2

I love that your grandbaby is due on April Fools. That's awesome. :thumbsup2
What Easter eggs are you talking about? Candy eggs?

Rochelle, where were you until the wee morning hours?? :rolleyes1 ;)

Tell me about it. I keep buying food and the darn kids keep eating it. :confused3 In fact, once I go shopping it's like a free for all in here. It's as if they are afraid they'll never see food again.

Disney just announce a new movie this fall by Tim Burton - Frankenweeine:

I LOVE Tim Burton!!
Love it!! Can it be October/Halloween already?? :yay:

I can see it now. Every little kid out there is going to want one of those stuffed dogs with stitches and bolts sticking out of it. :rotfl2:

I wish. There's a cat show in town. Told hubby I wanted to go. He is terrified I'll bring "somebody" home. I told him, "Well, since there are no plans for me getting to go back to Disneyland any time soon, I'd have the time to get a new kitty settled in"..... He says I'm evil, but would now not blink if I told him I was going back to DL in the next couple months. :rotfl2:

My interest is piqued as well!

Good Afternoon Ladies,

I have the day off today from work and have been somewhat lazy. I don't know why I was so tired but I woke up about an hour ago. Normally I don't sleep in that long! I'm meeting my bff for dinner tonight and then I'm hitting up crunk class. I am terrible at crunk and it's so hard but I haven't been in 4 weeks and I love the teacher. He's so awesome. I just want to try again.

This week my friends are going to try to get together to work on a video for this week's dance challenge. The song is most likely going to be Whip My Hair. I have to come up with some steps and another friend of mine will work with me to come up with some too. We are supposed to meet tomorrow afternoon to try to put steps together to send a video to the rest of the group to learn and then we film on Sunday. We haven't done a group video for a while and it's more fun than my solo videos! :scared:

So happy tomorrow is Saturday! I can party at ElecTRONica :teeth: Did you know they have a little disc throwing tournament now (for all ages) where you compete against others. You throw the disc through some hoops and whoever has the most points gets to keep one of those frisbees. I want one so bad!! They are freakin cool and I think they glow. I wanted Disney to sell them but I guess they are giving them away since ElecTRONica is ending soon. :( So damn sad about that. One of my friends started calling me "that girl who likes ElecTRONica" as a joke  :rotfl:

My sister texted me today and asked why I was wearing a blue shirt in one of our group photos. I told her I was the rebel spy of the diva group. :teeth:

WAIT!!! HOLD EVERYTHING!!!

I just realized I never got to try the Practically Perfect punch from the Jolly Holiday Bakery. It was on my list, and I totally forgot.

This just won't do. I think I need to go back and buy some. Soon. Anyone want to run away with me?

:p

(sigh) If only it were that simple....

Let me attempt to Fedex Overnight it to you. Hopefully the Vegas heat won't destroy it! ;) jk. I haven't tried it either. I didn't see it on the menu until last weekend but I wanted hot cocoa because it was freezing outside.

Just found out that DJ Adam Auburn is spinning for Mad T-Party! Woohoo!! One DJ down, now to wait to see if my fav DJ spins!! *crosses fingers*
