We've taken the drive twice in the last year and a half. It's ok, but this time I'm gonna be flying! No way I am driving that distance by myself.

Magic mornings are pretty awesome. I am amazed there are sleepyheads.....and I am NOT naming names, but you KNOW who you are...who sleep in rather than show up for them.

Great chance to do Peter Pan, Alice, Dumbo licketysplit before 15 minutes after opening. Love it.

I want to go back. Way more fun than my real life.;)

I have a few of those "sleepy heads" at my house too. Although we have not stayed on property to experience Magic Mornings, I would just once like to experience the "rope drop" up front and NOT behind hundred's of people! IS that too much to ask?:confused3

Me too! I have yet to make a rope drop. That is another goal for me. I know that going with Jessica, I am sure that it can be accomplished. ;)

Does your family not understand that you are all powerful and need to be obeyed?

I only make rope drop if I am there a couple of days. I admit, if I am driving up from San Diego, I do not make it.

I am in a family of early risers (just DH, DD11 and I) so when we go to WDW, we make rope drop every morning!!!!! It is how MY family rolls.:rotfl::rotfl:

To think I whine about the 98 miles I live from DL. Tut tut tut and an oh bother, have nothing to complain about. That is a serious drive!!

Good choice!!

The Unofficial Guide for WDW says to stay clear of the parks that have early hours on the particular day they offer the hours, but for Disneyland, the early hours totally work. I was pleasantly surprised. Even during a madhouse period of X-mas Break there was quiet that first hour before the stampede started in.

Yeah it is about 1500 miles for us. It took us 26 hours non-stop (well besides gas and food stops) in Oct 2010. It's a looooong drive.

True. That first hour is lovely. And really, the second hour is pretty sparse people wise compared to the rest of the day.

I follow the Unofficial Guide to WDW pretty closely when I go and I do agree that the early entry park is a bad choice for the day generally, but my family and I will buck that advise on EE days for MK and just stay about 3 hours and get everything we want to get done in a very short time.

BUT, we are DL regulars, so there is not a whole lot we are DYING to do at MK.

That is only if you are not park hopping! The early hours at WDW are the best! We go and stick around for a few hours then go have a nice sit down brunch and head to the pool. Then go to another park in the afternoon. Easy Peasy...

ROPE DROP 2013!!!!

Pitiful, I know:rotfl:
We used to be a houseful of early risers till 2 teenagers bombarded us!!!
Ya know waaaay back when...when there was nothing between Camp Pendelton and Irvine? That drive seemed to take FOREVER!!! At least it did when I was a kid.

Were we seperated at birth? My favorite touring plan. Except, we are very predictable, EPCOT is almost always the afternoon, evening choice.:hippie:

Well, of course EPCOT.....it has lots of great food for that night time meal that we enjoy so well!!

Stopping to check in before heading to bed. Too much to comment on, but I did want to welcome our newest member!

Howdy folks...Charlene here!!! New to the Dis Diva's but not to DISNEY!!!:cool1

DH is in the Air Force and Travis AFB is where we call home at the moment.

We have 4 kids; a 15yo ds, 13yo ds, 11yo ds and 8 (going on 30)yo dd!!!

Grew up in San Diego and went to DL alot as a kid, even went for GradNight '89!!:woohoo:
Hi Charlene!! Welcome to the group. :welcome: :welcome:

My name is Beth. I've been married for 18 years to my high school sweetie. We also have 4 kids, my son Adam is 17, daughter Noelle is 15, and twins Lindsey and Hannah are 11.

I was born in MI but grew up from a young age in SoCal. First the L.A./Eagle Rock area, then Glendale, then Burbank. I graduated in '89 as well! And yes, went to my GradNight at Disneyland. :thumbsup2

Glad to have you on board! :goodvibes

I know that Cynthia, Nicole and Becci were interested in doing the villa again next year, so Jen and Jessica you might want to see if they want to do that with you. I decided that I am not going to try to rent points again with the point increase. Plus it is likely that I will not be able to come next year with the new dates so I don't want to commit to anything.

I finally started getting my voice back a couple of days ago, but I am still dragging. Beth, keep me posted on the plan for Oct. 19; Lisa and I will be there and want to meet up with everyone!

I know. My problem is, I'm from the West Coast and messed up on West Coast time for the first couple of days I'm there. So early hours to me means 10 AM in Florida. Then I have to find a morning coffee that I can drink...It's eleven now and time for an early lunch so I miss the lunch rush. Well you can see where it starts going down hill from there... :rotfl:

Coming from San Diego, we cheat the first day and sleep in. I call it our easy day. My DH disagrees and says that he doesn't notice anything easy about it.

We get to a park by 9 or 9:30. That is taking it easy, no?

We also always start our first day by doing the Behind the Seeds Tour at EPCOT.

Taking a scheduled tour in a greenhouse is totally stopping and smelling the roses in my book.

Now I want to go to WDW too.

DL is far more attainable with the AP in my wallet.

Hi!! I'm not sure if I met you or not. There were a few new faces that I don't think I got a chance to talk with. I've been running a day care in my home for 30 years which is why I can get on here so often. Nap time, coloring time, lunch time etc. :rotfl:
On a Sunday morning I can get to DL in 1 hour 20 minutes! That's leaving at 6:00 am. A little longer on Sat. but going home takes close to 2 hours.

I liked how rope drop was on Sat. Ropes at each land entrance rather than on Mainstreet. Is this brand new? Works good for people who want to get to a certain ride.

I have yet to see a rope drop myself, but as far as I know, it's always been just on Main St. That sounds new to me!

That is cool that you are able to work EE in for MK. I have never made it to MK early. I love WDW. It is just amazing. But when I go to WDW, well, I'm a pokey person by nature, so I end up at Epcot a lot ... If I'm at MK, I never time it right, so I end up spending a lot of time riding the Tomorrow Land Transit. :rotfl: But I like you, never really stress about MK because I feel like I get my full fix at DL for overlap with MK kinds of rides.. except for Tomorrow Land Transit. They need to bring back the People Mover at DL...;)
