:goodvibes Figured it would be pretty easy. And Tina made me do it (...or maybe this one's on me).

Yikes! Talk of dates has already started. If the vote is for the week of Feb. 7-11th, I won't ever be able to make that week, or the coming years to come. :sad2: That is the week that I am in charge of the huge fundraiser.

So my vote would be the same week as this year's or bump it back a week, to see if it worked out better for crowds. All I know, is that Friday was insane this year. :scared1:

Well, you have been here since trip one and with all you do for the group, there is no way we'd even entertain the idea of dates where you could not make it. So, that settles that.

That leaves two decisions to make:

Keep it the same or bump it back one week. (I'd still like to bump it back a week. We know the crowds will always be high President's/ski week, but hopefully they would be lesser the following week.)

Also, change it to Wed-Sun or leave it Thurs-Mon. (I'd like to change it to Wed-Sun just because it seems like everyone leaves Sun anyway)

I never know if I will make it or not, so whatever dates you choose I will be there or I wont. I will say that Feb 7-11 has a high probability of me not making it. :rolleyes1

It wasn't easy....I'm just a genius :teacher:.

I agree that Mel has to be there!! It would have been nice to have low crowds plus lower cost rooms at the Grand, but that's okay.

I am fine with any of those, but I'd most likely still leave on Monday, as flights seem to be cheaper on weekdays than weekends.

What are the costs roughly for hotel rooms where you guys normally stay? I don't expect to get to stay in a room at GCH (although that would be awesome) but I am hoping to be able to stay in a Disney hotel if I could (never have before).

Jessica, are we still good with being roomies?

Nice new name by the way! :thumbsup2

Honestly, I'm flexible with the dates. My areas of focus are crowds (but if we change to Wednesday, that will give us all of Thursday with lower crowds and part of Wednesday) and DVC Villa cost. With a group this size, there will be NO date that works for EVERYONE. That's my input. Being a relative newbie to the group, I'm pretty much happy to go with the flow.

I've got my photopass pix uploaded and am working on edits. Can I just say WTH is up with all the Holiday borders? Don't pix expire in 30 days? Nobody should still be doing Holiday photopass! I was hoping for more spring-y and 2012 options. Poo. LOL

I agree, I was not happy with the choices. Made editing a lot easier though! :thumbsup2

True. I think I'm done. I missed a ton of my usual photos this trip.... the Statue, in front of the castle, Main Street.... I think it was because of the crowds. SIGH. Oh well.

Hi...my name is Bridget and I am addicted to coffee!!

And can I just say that I am sooooo happy right now - my new espresso machine just came and I am finished setting up it. Sipping my first wonderful cappuccino!!!

Now it would only be better if I was sitting on the balcony at the Grand!!

Sorry - just had to share!

An evil genius maybe. :rolleyes1

It depends. This year a lot of people were at the GCH villas with several to each room.
Next year though, we might need to have more rooms booked at the Carousel hotel, which is where we hold the Meet and Greet party. They said we need at least 6 rooms booked there in order to use their room. Well, technically, I guess they said we could use it without the 6 rooms, but we'd have to pay $150 and adding that to what it already costs to attend the Meet and Greet would have the price getting a bit up there.

So, long story short, we don't really know for sure what's happening with hotels just yet. LOL

Crowds are my concern too. And while not everyone is posting right now, I can tell you that everyone I spoke with on the trip was expressing concerns over the crowds. Even Thursday, which yes is normally a slow day, was crowded this time. That's why I was wondering if it wasn't because of this ski week thing. (Who knew such a thing existed! LOL)

Darn people. :crowded: :crowded: :crowded: :crowded: :crowded: :crowded:
:crowded::crowded::crowded::crowded::crowded:

Bridget, enjoy your machine!! I don't even know how to make a pot of coffee.

Just wanting to say I just checked the Touring Plans historical crowd levels and it seems like end of February/ beginning of March isn't too bad. For this year they have it as:

Date Resort Disneyland DCA
Wed, February 29, 2012 9 out of 10 10.0 3.7
Thu, March 1, 2012 3 out of 10 1.8 4.0
Fri, March 2, 2012 6 out of 10 6.0 5.2
Sat, March 3, 2012 7 out of 10 7.3 5.9
Sun, March 4, 2012 7 out of 10 6.6 6.4
Mon, March 5, 2012 3 out of 10 2.1 4.5

Obviously this years Wednesday isn't the norm and it should be a 2 or 3 next year.

Keep it the same. Why mess with a good thing that everyone is used to.

Last year we went one week later & what a difference the crowds were......I'd prefer to bump it back one week (like the 2011 trip) vs staying the same week or going earlier.....I'm one of those ladies that needs my tax refund back to go on this type of trip.....if we go early February....I probably wouldn't be able to join in due to finances.

The hunt was fun, but I was so tired afterwards that I'm not sure if it was worth it. I think I've finally found the one thing that wears me out!:rotfl2:

I enjoyed the hunt from the perspective of something new & fun to do and also loved learning more about the park. But the intensity of trying to find so much in a short time was a bit crazy...fun, but crazy!:)

So I was thinking maybe for next year, if everyone is agreeable, I could make up some scavenger hunt sheets that are just for fun and people could pick them up at the M&G. That way people that enjoy a slower paced day could also have fun....or maybe....I can start an intense training regimen now...

Practice leaping over strollers in a single bound.

Learn to rock climb so I can go up the Matterhorn and use my binoculars to find everything.

Start going up to strangers in the mall and insist they are "INSERT COMMITTEE MEMBER NAME HERE". That way I won't be hesitant to approach people in disguise in each land!

Get a job at DL, so I can have access to the underground tunnels.

Visit the Nike campus and get some aerodynamic outfits. A fanny pack and sweatshirt just aren't going to cut it next year.:thumbsup2

Oh yes...I have a plan in the works!:rotfl2:

Just wanted to say that the committee is listening to feedback and we have already decided that the hunt next year will go back to the basics and focus on fun. So please don't start another hunt - we promise it will be fun!

Well boo that Mel wouldn't be able to make Feb 7-11..........

So I'll say my second choice is pushing it back a week to February 27- March 3. This will actually make a lot of choices much, much more simple - and everyone can thank me later :upsidedow

Going at this time means we will be there for my birthday - so there's the M&G theme right there, all nice and tidy. Theresa's Big B-Day Bash. Instead of an exchange, everyone can bring me a gift (bling and sparkle always are good choices :thumbsup2 ).

It works out perfectly. My husband thinks it would be good too, since he would then not have to try and figure out what to get me for my birthday - ta da, annual trip to Disneyland away from the boyos :thumbsup2

Hopefully lower crowds, higher DVC - just means there will be more peeps available to get rooms at The Carousel so we don't have to pay extra for the room........ This trip planning is a B-REEZE :rolleyes1

Oooooh, and Wednesday would be the PERFECT tie-dye day - whatever color (or non-color as the case may be) that you choose!!

Sounds good to me!!

I'm another who would love to go the first weekend in March. It would def make it easier for mom and I since my girls always get that week off for President's week. More and more schools up here are going to that schedule too thus prob why so busy. And the best part is eventhough we were not planning on going next year mom said if it is farther away from our Jan trip that we may be able to still go. :)
