Hi everyone.
We've had a pretty bad couple of weeks, but I'm trying to look at the bright side of things.
I won't go into all the drama of everything that's been happening the last few weeks, but to top off our string of bad luck, Justin (my DH) was driving 60mph on the highway Tuesday afternoon when suddenly the left front tire had COMPLETE tread seperation.
(BAD)
At the exact same time, going in the opposite direction, was a State trooper, who had to swerve his car around so he wouldn't get hit by the flying tread. (BAD)
Luckily the State Trooper was a nice guy, turned around to help out my hubby and make sure he was okay, clear the tread debris from the highway, and didn't write any kind of citation. (GOOD)
Luckily our car (Ford Explorer) didn't flip and roll, Justin manged to keep it upright and somehow muscled it over to the shoulder, the car only suffered a little body damage, Justin didn't get hurt, nor did anyone else on the highway. (GOOD) (Strangely, although all the tread literally peeled off the tire, the tire stayed inflated and never went flat.)
Luckily there wasn't any damage done to anyone else's vehicles because of the flying tread. (GOOD)
After the State Trooper goes on his way, Justin pulls out the spare tire, and it's flat. He called me on his cell, wanting me to call a tow truck, which would've cost a few hundred dollars since Justin was in a rural part of the state. (BAD)
Luckily, about a minute later, a couple of county workers stopped to help, took the spare tire to their headquarters (about a mile down the road), filled it with air, and brought it back to my hubby. (GOOD)
Justin put on the spare tire and manages to get the car home, but once there, we realized that the flying tread hit a back tire and put a leak in it, and the back tire went completely flat within a couple of hours of being parked in our garage. (GOOD & BAD)
The next day (yesterday), Justin buys some spray tire patch stuff, and gets the back tire leak patched up enough to fill it with air so he could drive the car over to Les Schwab tires. (GOOD)
The manager at Les Schwab was really nice, said he had only ever seen a complete tread seperation 3 times in his life (we were the third). We had to buy 4 new tires to a tune of $450. (GULP - GOOD & BAD)
