Did you get the Happy B-day button at City Hall? My last two birthdays were spent at DL. I love when complete strangers wish me Happy Birthday!!!

My DD and I were there for the AM on Friday and with the rain and all, I expected less people. It wasn't crazy or anything, but it WAS raining a bit. We only lasted until about 1 as my DD seemed perky as all git out at home, dragging at the park. Always answering "I'm fine" when asked. Then I hugged her and kissed her forehead...burning up.. I AM a bad mom, dragging my kid with a fever all over DL.

She is better now!!!

So HAPPY BIRTHDAY STACIE!!!!
Aw, poor thing. But no you are not a bad mom. It happens. I'm glad to hear she's better now.

Thank you! Yes, I did get the button. I love when people actually have something to read when staring at my chest. ;)
Or at least to pretend to read.....:rolleyes1 ;) :rotfl:

Just checking in to say hello to everyone and hope everyone had a great weekend. I had a four day weekend so that was good & relaxing :cloud9: . I spent Friday morning at the doctors and then meet Michelle and her family at Knotts Berry Farm. Then on Saturday we met up with Michelle and her family again to see Indiana Jones and then we went to the DVC event. Sunday and Monday was family time so we just barbequed and relaxed.

Oh, and for all the ladies that ate at Goofy's Kitchen during our girls trip, I finally go the group picture from Michelle so I'll try to get it scanned by the end of the week.

Stacie Happy Belated Birthday party: :bday: !!!!

Well it's back to work! I had the hardest time getting out of bed this morning :faint:. I could have used a couple more days off.

Hi gals! A cold but fun weekend at DLR! Was nice seeing Chris, Mary Jo and Stacie again and getting to meet Molly (and family). I have pictures of Chris dancing with Pluto at the DVC event and will try to get them posted tonight!

We also got to meet dbanzai (aka Dave) yesterday and he joined us for lunch. Another Dis-er--yay! (cool sunglasses, Dave!) Did you add on points?

and we got to meet "Califboy"--aka Chris' husband--lucky girl! Really a nice guy.

It wasn't that busy on Sunday (I think because of the threat of rain) but yesterday seemed very crowded to me. I didn't go on many rides, but the ones I did go on were very short waits (and some of the ones I didn't the posted times didn't seem that long).

I still don't know why people go on Grizzly River Rapids when it's cold and windy though--LOL! But the wait was only 10 minutes, so I guess some people weren't riding after all (when it was 102 degrees I think the wait was 75 minutes.)

Anyway, my good news for the day is that I didn't have to report today for jury duty--yay--keep your fingers crossed for tomorrow!

Sounds like everyone is having a great time. Yes, I am little jealous.

Happy Birthday, a little late:hug:

Added another part to the Trip Report. This is taking longer than I thought it would.

How is everyone doing today?

Hi everyone, happy birthday Stacie! I hope everyone had a safe weekend :)

Sunday I had a discussion (code word for fight with no yelling) with my mom and dad - dad and I held the same opinion. My brother has talked to them separately about giving them a weekend away to cover Mother's Day, Father's Day, both their birthdays, and their anniversary. With my dad's new job, they don't have nearly as much time with each other as they used to and they haven't been away in a while.

Keep in mind my brother is 17, and will be graduating HS in a week. My mom told him she doesn't want him to spend his money to send them on a trip. I was trying to tell her that it's something really important to him, that he is excited to do something spectacular for them. My dad said to try to look at it through [my brother's] eyes: The economy has taken its toll on my folks and my brother has been really worried about it and will be mad when they give him cash for graduation but they won't accept his gift.

Oh boy. That really set mom off... into silence.

So now I need advice. I try not to make it habit to get involved but I had to say something because I was really advocating for myself:laughing: . My big combo surprise is a DL trip :rotfl2: If my brother's weekend getaway was not met with warm reception what's going to happen to my 5 day vacation plans??? :confused3

Should I tell them I won the lotto? :lmao:

I'll be really :furious: if mom says no way. They have really supported me a lot as a single mom. I lived with them for 3 years while I got my degree. They've taken me to Hawaii and on a cruise, since I've been an adult... which to me is just above and beyond. It means a lot to be able to give back.

So how do I approach this?

I say tie her up and throw her in the car, she'll have a hard time getting out of that one! My parents are the same way as yours, they never want me doing anything for them, so I do it anyways and then they can't say no once I've already spent the money! Last month I bought them a new TV and didn't tell them until it was delivered. I told my mom I'd return it if she wanted me too, but once she saw it all set up, she said they'd keep it. :rotfl2:
So just do it! Once the money has been spent, it will be hard for her to back out of it, and if she argues just put on a sad puppy face, no parent can resist that!

I have the e-tickets already printed. I plan on doing shirts too... thanks to the Creative DISigns board. And I bought a coffee cup and little mickey to put inside.

She can't say no once she's opened a box with all this stuff in it, especially with the tickets. Right?

I mean, I even got black wrapping paper and a bright red bow! Who can resist that?

I think I set a new record for myself. I had a total of 1 hour and 15 minutes of sleep last night. I had to work on a group project (at Denny's) didn't get home until 3am and then I had to do two history analysis papers. I didn't get to bed until 4:45am and woke up at 6am for my 8am class presentation. Only by the grace of God am I mobile.

Hi ladies, hope you all had a great holiday weekend.

We took our 8 year old son, Ryan, to his first concert on Saturday night.....Carrie Underwood. He loves Carrie Underwood and wants to marry her when he grows up. The show was awesome, and Carrie talked directly to Ryan from the stage!!! :woohoo: :cool1: (Our seats were really close to the stage and the catwalk.)

Anyway, after singing one of her songs, she started talking about how good lookin' the men were in Spokane, and then asked if there were any "Prince Charmings" in the audience. She started looking around to find a Prince Charming (and with the help of DH, who is 6'6" tall, pointing to Ryan), and she looked right at Ryan and said, "Ohhhh, now there's my Prince Charming! He's gonna be a real lady killer when he grows up!" Then she blew him a kiss, and then she said to Ryan, "Blow me a kiss!" Well, he was in shock and didn't blow her a kiss right away, so Carrie said, "Uh oh.....I lost him already!" But then Ryan finally did blow here a kiss, and Carrie giggled and waved. It was too cute, and everyone in our section was thrilled for Ryan.

Just so you know, Ryan is high-functioning autistic, so he took some of the things she said kinda literally. After the concert he was asking questions like, "Why does she think I'm going to be a lady killer?" We tried to explain to him that it was another way to say that you're going to grow up to be really handsome. Hopefully he understands because the literal meaning of the phrase isn't all that pleasant, if you know what I mean?!:worried:

Anyway, it was a special evening, and I just wanted to share it with you guys. Hope everyone is have a great Tuesday!:)

I think that is so sweet of you and your brother to do this and want to give back to your parents. Sometimes as parents it's hard to just hush up, accept the gift and say thank you, but I think when they see how much effort you've put into it and how important it is to you and how much you want to do this for them, they will be happy.

Good luck!!

 Yikes, I hope you can get some rest soon before you pass out! :faint:

Capri!!! I was wondering when you were going to check in and fill us in on all the great details.

That is so awesome that she spoke right to him!!!!!! WOW. I bet he was so happy, and if I'd been there I probably would have been in tears just seeing how happy he was. :goodvibes (I'm such a dork, LOL)

I'm not surprised he was confused about the term lady-killer. I mean how many young kids would know what that means? I would have used something like heart breaker or something along those lines. But oh well. I'm sure once you explained it to him, he understood.

And I'm so happy you all got to go and take him out on such a special night. :)

I know, :offtopic: but how do you multi-quote?

Happy belated birthday Stacey!

Our weekend was very quiet and slow. We didn't go anywhere or do anything...well we did get pizza yesterday but that was it.

Kate, I didn't want to get up this morning either...Actually everyone in my office felt that way:rotfl: I'm ready for Friday!
