Can I ask some of you WDW veterans a question about the current WDW promotion they are running (7 days for price of 4)?

What do you do if you are a family of 5? How does that work with the promotion? Also, why does WDW believe that all families consist of 2 adults and 2 children?
Good questions Callie!!! :headache: You should give them a call, and report back. I'm sure they have it all figured out.

It is a good promotiom though isn't it?

Pretty tempting.................:rolleyes1

Welcome Heather! :cool1:

Cristabel...I bought all the Twilight books off of Overstock awhile back. It is a great deal!:thumbsup2

OK, let me see if I can confuse you even more. lol

At the bottom right of each post is where you click the Quote to quote someone right? Next to that are two more buttons. The one in the middle has what appear to be " marks and a + sign.

Click on that. It will light up a red color. That means you have selected that post as one you want to quote.

Do the same thing to all the posts you want to quote. When you have chosen all the ones you'd like to quote, simply hit Post Reply at the bottom left of that page as normal.

In your reply box, all the posts you clicked on will be in there ready for you to respond to each one.

Does that make sense? It's easy. Try it. I have faith in you. :goodvibes :rotfl:

LOL--yes I am home--barely. Our flight was delayed 2 1/2 hours, so it didn't get in until 11:45 p.m. California time last night (which felt to us like 2:45 a.m.!) and then we were starving--so Mom and DBF and I went and had a late/early breakfast, and finally got home and to bed around 3 a.m. (which meant we had been up 23 hours since I didn't sleep on the plane). I only slept 5 hours and am starting to fade . . . . still have a lot of unpacking to do, and am doing some laundry now.

Despite some issues, including my Mom's trip to the emergency room the night before the flight out, and resort issues, we ended up having a good time--but it went too fast! Isn't that always the way? My favorite parks were Animal Kingdom (LOVE  Animal Kingdom) and Epcot (of course, we were there for food and wine, so who wouldn't love it?). I went to Hollywood Studios by myself as my Mom was taking a rest day--other than lunch (which I will detail later) I didn't see much there to write home about (of course, didn't ride ToT or RockNRoller Coaster). Magic Kingdom was better than the Studios--but didn't have that "magic" feel that Disneyland seems to have (at least to me).

Saratoga Springs resort itself is beautiful--but pretty large. The grounds are gorgeous!

Anyway, I have a yummy 7-bone roast in the oven (after I swore off beef when we left WDW because on the dining plan we had eaten steak about 6 out of 8 days), we are watching football and I'm about 2/3 of the way through "Twilight." So, I will get my trip report started very soon and hope everyone is well!

Thanks for the rant, Beth. :cheer2: It is a major reason I have not yet made a trip to WDW, that and the fact that it seems to be all about the food. . . :rolleyes1

I've just been playing around with the booking site today, and I swear the only resort it will let me book is Port Orleans Riverside which is just UGLY to me and the idea of two doubles and a pullout bed in a room with no fridge or micro makes me sick . . . Yeah, just confirming that even with a good deal like they are offering, I just DO NOT really want to go there.

Um, no, I don't go there either. . . :scared: :rolleyes1
Callie, The one and only time I've been to WDW, we stayed at the French Quarters next to the Riverside. We all thought the Riverside was BEAUTIFUL! I would not hesitate to stay there at all. It's huge, but most of them are except the FQs.

Oh and hey Cheryl, you are back. :yay: Go and have a great dinner and get some sleep. Looking forward to your news! :goodvibes

After a few days away I am still struggling to catch up, but I would second the fact that POR is gorgeous. My DH and I spent our honeymoon there and although we were in the parks most of the time, POR has gorgeous grounds and it's easy to forget you are in centra Florida and not at a southern mansion somewhere more romantic. We also loved the fact that we could take a boat ride to Downtown Disney...

Anyhow, the Halloween trip to DL was successful and went by way too quickly. There's no time for a full trip report, but we had a great time at MTOTP and due to winning DFPs on Friday morning we were able to brave the crowds all weekend with no real issues. Also, we take great advantage of the baby swap for things like Space Mountain, which actually doubles up the number of FPs we have since we only have to use one FP for both of us to ride. I would also highly recommend the single rider line for Screamin', Soarin' and Indy as it saved considerable time over even using a FP for those rides. And, anyhow, Ty's favorite rides are the two carrousels which I think we rode a combined total of 12 times between Friday and Saturday, and you don't need FP for them!

Other highlights included getting a jump on the Christmas shopping (so much cute holiday stuff to be found) and pulling together a "Welcome to Disneyland" package for my 12 going on 13 year old niece who we will be taking for her birthday (first trip ever to a Disney property) in June. It was so much fun to buy mouse ears, a lanyard, pins, Disney dollars, etc. to get her even more excited about our upcoming trip, as she is very jealous that her cousin Ty has been to DL so many times already and he's only 1!

One other thing to mention is that we had a somewhat bad experience at Minnie's breakfast. There were characters everywhere when we first arrived for our 10:20 PS, but by the time that we checked in, got pictures taken and got food, there was no one around our area. We waited patiently for about 45 minutes with only a short visit from Gepetto (that DH missed because it was his turn to go get breakfast while I watched Ty). So, I politely asked the character host (Leslie) what the deal was, and while it took another 15 minutes or so, she managed to get Max, Tigger, Eeyore, Chip and Dale to our table before the characters left. We just missed Minnie Mouse--she left for the day a few tables before she got to us :sad1: Sadly, the other characters that we saw from a distance were ones we had never met before--Captain Hook and a Mary Poppins penguin, but we ended up seeing Hook the next day at DCA.

Now we are on the countdown 'til our Christmas trip. I can't believe that we will be back there in 6 short weeks! In the meantime, I'm looking forward to the mini-meet with Amy and Beth next Sunday!

If this works, how do I pick and choose just some words?

You can go through a person's post and simply delete what you don't want to show up, like I did above with yours.

And you can reply to each person in between their quotes. You'll see where each person's post begins because it will start with something like this:
Then whatever follows is that person's. The end will have another Quote in brackets. You'll see what I mean.

So far, so good!!!! You can do it!!!! :rotfl:

Cheryl, welcome back!!! Can't wait till you work on your TR!! :yay:

Jane, welcome back to you too!! Glad to hear your trip went well, with the exception of the breakfast. Congrats on the DFPs. :) When are you going back?
Oh, and I can't wait to meet up either!! My DD Hannah is sick, :sad2:, but I'm desperately trying to stay well so I don't have to miss our mini meet. :yay:

Hey everyone..happy sunday.

hhmmm... when our children were little we would always go to WDW and stay at grand floridian..we loved it... so close and so nice to be able to go back to the room during the day and play at the little beach.

but now we are in love with disneyland.

this summer my mom and and i are going to take the grandchildren up for a week to DL.. and enjoy the park at a laid back pace.. we just have to decide when to go... put those annual passes to good use.

Thanks for the welcome everyone! Thanks for the room Stacie, and if we drive I know we can work it out.

I'm at work, but will be able to post more later.

I have stayed at POR several times. In fact it's the only resort I've ever stayed at at WDW. The grounds are beautiful. Now, the rooms that take 5 people are not fancy since it's suppose to look like rural bayou country on that side of the resort, but the main building and grouds are very nice. I pictures at home if you are interested Callie.

Talk with you all later.

Heather

Welcome back Cheryl. I am anxious to hear all about your trip. We are almost to single digits till we leave! 1 week from Thursday!! How was the weather? Sounds like you had a good time!

And Callie when we go we have 5 plus my mom usually goes so that makes 6. But we are fortunate because she has a timeshare and that not only saves us money BUT gives us more space. We get a two bedroom unit with a kitchen and then we make our own breakfast each day as well. Save a LOT of money that way. We have to rent a car of course but I guess you don't HAVE to. Technically most of them have shuttles but we prefer to have the conveninence of a car. On this trip we are going to Universal and IOA first which is GREAT fun and we are staying at the Doubletree and then after we check out of the timeshare we are checking into Pop for a few days but it is so cheap we got two rooms which would equal 1 room anywhere else.

So yeah it does suck to have to get two rooms but it is so cheap you could probably do adjoining and it is still cheaper than 1 room at a deluxe or whatever.

I do agree though that they should have bigger rooms so that you could share if you have larger families with small kids etc.

But as Beth said there are LOTS of options offsight and although DL is my FAV I do love DW because it is different. It is def like a destination vacation and more immersive. There are def things I miss about DL when I go there but things that I love about DW too that DL doesn't have. It is just different.

We had a busy but fun weekend. Our girls won their soccer game and I will be SO glad when it is over. 1 more game left!! And then Friday night we had a Girl Scout meeting and then a girl scout event last night IN the rain no less. Anyone heard of geo caching? It is kind of like treasure hunting. Well that is what we got to do out in the rain and the mud. Searching for these things. FUN! sheyeah right!

And my kids only get Tues off. There should be a law that if the holiday is on Tues that they get the monday off too. But anyway dsd has to work so I STILL have to get up and drive her to work. BLEH!

I just had to tell everyone that I love my 3 year old niece. She's been at my house for about 2 hours now and she keeps saying to me, "I love you, you're beautiful!" :lovestruc She's my little confidence booster. :cutie:

Hi to previous girlfriends and hello to new girlfriends!
I try to read here and there, but have had a tough time keeping up lately. I did go a few pages back today.

Welcome back Cheryl. Hope you had a great trip!!

I have stayed at POR Riverside and FQ before, on seperate trips. I loved them both, but I think I liked Riverside a little more. I just booked a trip to WDW to meet up with a bunch of my old travel buddies and I'm staying at FQ again. I'll be there 12/11-15....anybody else going to be there at that time?

I laughed reading the posts about staying off property. I always stay on property and my goal is to try to stay at every resort....LOL (I'm about 2/3 thru) I tend to be one of those who forget that Florida isn't just WDW....there is another world beyond WDW! There is just so much to do and see, especially during the holidays, that I never venture out of the world much. I love all the transportation options, bus, monorails, boats ect, so I rarely rent a car, especially when Magical Express just wisks you to and from so easily. Traveling with the girls and traveling with family is so different too!

When is the upcoming mini meet? Was it in a post or on the front pages, and I missed it somehow?

My kids are off Mon & Tues too. Its funny how different all the schools are this year. We are also off the entire Thanksgiving week.

I'd be interested in seeing a few pics. Your description sounds very interesting.

Great news about getting your b-day off! :thumbsup2
The scavenger hunt is still a work in progress. It's being put together by fairykin and tinkermell. If there is any news on it, I'll definitely add it to the front page.

I liked staying on property, we stayed one time at an All Stars and another time for the ladies only trip I was at Coronado Springs. But with six people, getting a condo with 2 bedrooms, 2 bathrooms, a living room, full kitchen, washer/dryer, etc for under $400 for the week was just much easier. It was actually at the Sheraton Vistana and not far from WDW at all.

It's hard to travel with a family of six no matter where you go. Driving from CA to MI and then from MI to NV was so hard! All the hotels have gone up in price, and we'd either have to rent two rooms or get a more expensive suite. It's just tough with a family larger then the traditional 2 kids.

The mini meet is probably the one we are doing here in Vegas. It's myself, Amy (bigskyernurse) and Jane (Cheshiregirl). We all live in the area, so we thought we'd meet up for some shopping and lunch. If anyone's in Vegas on November 16, feel free to join us! ;) Oh, and did you see the Vegas trip being planned for next June?
I can't remember who's posted there and who hasn't..... lol

Well, I hope you all had a good weekend!
