Girls Only Trip (old planning thread, see link to new one in 1st post)

Hi everyone.

Sorry I haven't checked in for a few days. Nothing wrong or anything, I've just been busy with school. Did anyone miss me? ;)

I'm lovin' all the planning going on! I'm getting excited! :yay::woohoo::yay:

Of course we did, Capri. We just figured you were crusing all around town in your new car!;)

We have been to Los Olivos. We stayed at a really cool hotel there with themed rooms. In fact, it was a pirate room before the "Pirate" series came out. We had soooo much fun there. All the rooms were really neat. And then we spent the next day in Solvang, another beautiful area.

Thank goodness you are safe.

We lived in Oxnard when I was a kid :) Are you north or south of SB?

Yay Oxnard! :) I've been here forever!

We are South of Santa Barbara. Just keep taking the 101 North from my house and you're in SB!!

You live in Oxnard???? OMG, that's fabulous!! Is Santa Clara Grammar School still open?

Sorry...anyway, I absolutely love SB Mission..and the nun's monastery is right next door, so if they Mission is in harm's way, so are the nuns. Very scary.

I was going to be a live-n volunteer at SB Mission this year, but instead I am a live-in grandma taking care of my grandbaby.

Hi there!
So it is 7:00 and I am so ready for bed. Geesh, am I 37 or 3? I'm not sure how I'll be able to stay up for Idol.

:wave2: Yes!
Oh No! I hope not I just visited the SB Mission and got some beautiful photos. What a piece of history. I feel like from what I've learned that the Mission is south of the fire? I could be wrong though.

I'm not exactly sure but they just interviewed someone on tv that lived 2 blocks from the Mission and they were being evacated and she said that she had heard that the Botanical Gardens which I believe are near that area had some scorching...but then that is all hearsay. I would love to see your photos of the Mission - it is an amazing piece of place - if only the walls could talk!

Santa Barbara is beautiful. I always wanted (and still do) to get married in that mission. I was just thinking about the fire that was near Simi, I think that was the one (there have been so many in this area within the last year) where the smoke over here was just terrible.

I would think that they would do all they can to save the Mission. It seemed like the fires would never end last year but it was my first year to experience them. I have been told that about 3 or 4 years ago the fires were worse and all of the hills around Simi were on fire. Two things I do not like about CA: the fires and earthquakes! BTW - Did you feel the earthquake a week ago that was in Westlake? It was a 4.2 I think. It was just a small shaker but I could really do without the earthquakes!

(WOW, Alison goes home....so the final 3: Adam, Danny & Kris..I'm okay with that...but we all remember Chris Daughtry, so anything can still happen!).

Yep! I went to Santa Clara High School! A lot of my friends from high school went to Santa Clara Elementary. The church is just beautiful.

How long did you live in Oxnard for?

Woo! A volunteer grandma is one of the best jobs!

Vicki, I am so excited to meet you - and please do bring DBF! We will see you Sat at 9 pm.:)

Linda, I am excited to meet you and the others too! :goodvibes See you at 9pm unless we run into anyone during the afternoon. We talked about just have a lazy afternoon at the hotel pool and not go to the parks but I am not sure I can be that close and not to step into DL or at least DCA to see what's happening with the F&WF.

That hurts my heart and it's also really scary because its very close to one of my school's campuses, which is on APS (alameda padre serra) I think I spelled that right. The photos are just touristy shots, nothing artsy, but I'll still share if you want!

First, I am sooo sorry for posting the AI outcome for tonight, I forgot how many are on the west coast..I deleted it from my post, but you saw it already ...I am so sorry!! :guilty:

I went to the grammar school! Waaaaay back then the sisters were still in full habit. I loved those sisters though -they were the best..and I loved living in Oxnard. I would walk to school everyday, past the public school down a palm tree lined street and think "WOW, I am so lucky to live here!". Later, I remember Johnny Carson always made fun of Oxnard, but no idea why.

My dad was at Pt Magu, so we were only there 6 yrs, but I have the best memories of Oxnard. Have been back to Santa Barbara several times (and other parts of CA), but not to Oxnard...I'm afird it would be so diffierent and ruin my memories.

Wonder if the school and church have a website...going to look now.

P.s. Should have said I am a live in grandma...for real...I made it sound like I am a volunteer grandma.:rotfl:

The Santa Barbara fires are on the Indianapolis nightly news. I'm so glad I heard about it from you instead of seeing it on the news right before I go to bed. I would have had a coronary or something. I can't wait to call my advisor tomorrow and find out what is going on with the Jefferson campus!

Your touristy shots I am sure are far better than any photos I could ever have taken! :worship:

Ok I HAVE to go run. I have been hanging out here on the DIS putting off running but it is time to get ready and stop putting it off! Go Run Vicki!

So there would be two character meals - Ariel's and whichever breakfast the group chooses.
That's right. I forgot about Ariel's. So we will have two character meals then. That'll work. Two is plenty.

Guess I'd better calm down..still 9 mos away. :dance3:
LOL It's like waiting for a baby!

Did anyone miss me? ;)
Always!

Last fall when the fires were in Porter Ranch I remember the billowing smoke over the hills and how close it looked to our house so I can imagine what kind of smoke you are experiencing.
:goodvibes
We were visiting my in-laws in Moorpark during that fire.

AND PFF, please.
Yes. That's a definite.

Evening all! Back from swim and have to go BACK out here in a few to pick the girls up from church but have a few minutes to chat.

As far as the meet I think Lilo and Stich would be awesome since not only have I not done that meal I have never even stepped foot in Paradise Pier. But if Goofy's is picked I can say we just did the dinner for Shelby's birthday and I enjoyed it so I wouldn't mind that although it was pretty pricey but I did Enjoy it. So I would be fine with it.

I like any of the photo options and I am just kind of up for whatever the rest choose. I am easy that way! I have already done all the tours so other than the scavy hunt which I am REALLY looking forward to and the pizza party and maybe some more down nights where we can visit I am up for whatever. And I DO like the idea of more group rides. That ride on small world was lots of fun. But again I just go with the flow. Whatever everyone else wants to do I am good. As I said though the nights we had dessert at Napa Rose and then there were some nights that a few of us just sat around and visited with drinks. THOSE were fun. I really enjoyed the night a bunch of us had dinner at Cafe Orleans because it wasn't the HUGE group but it was small enough that we could talk. So stuff like that is really fun. I enjoy getting to talk to people more and just visiting. We talk on here all the time but getting to talk to people face to face and get to know them in person is really fun to me! I really enjoyed that and just spending time together. When Mel and I spent some time together and rode ToT and a group of us rode Toy Story and did the Animation academy stuff like that. Plus I HAVE to go to Cove bar this time. Anyway those are just my thoughts. ;)

And Capri, HI!! ;)

And to all those around the fires many prayers. I can only imagine how scary that must be. I know when we had the fires last year and all that smoke we couldn't hardly see or breathe and they weren't even that close to us but we had to cancel several meets because the smoke was so bad and I can only imagine what it must be like when they are so close. My aunt lives in Rancho Bernardo and all her friends lost their homes. It is unimaginable. One of my biggest fears is losing everything. My photos and the kids projects, you know the irreplaceable stuff. I don't care about my furniture, clothes etc but I would be heartbroken if I lost their baby books, photos or their school projects, papers etc. Stuff you can't replace. ((hugs)) and prayers to you and everyone down their for safety!!

Hey, everyone,

Just want to apologize for posting the AI show results tonight.:guilty: I completely forgot that most of our group is on the west coast and I don't know what time the show airs there.

I removed it from my post, but it is in a quote.

I'm so sorry!!!

Think it's time to say goodnight! Rest well, my new friends.
