Girls Only Trip (old planning thread, see link to new one in 1st post)

Thanks, I am trying. I don't want to bring down the thread again with all my mommy drama but I am just at my wits end. I keep thinking back to when my DH and I were trying to decide if we wanted to have kids or be DINKS (Double Income No Kids)...did we make the right decision? I just don't know. I hope they end up ok and I hope they don't kill anyone in the process.
They will be fine, and so will you. We all have days where we doubt our effectiveness as parents. But I know you are doing a good job. You've got my home number right? You know you can call me anytime you need to talk or vent. I'm home all day long. ;)

That sounds good. Let us know how it goes. I'm whiter than a ghost, so I'd be interested in something like that too. I've always wanted to try that Mystic Tan.

I tried a Mystic tan a couple of years ago - not good for me :sad2: It turned me orange. This was after they guaranteed me it would not turn me orange....... Frank thought it was too funny (nice guy!). I'm whiter than white too, so tanning is really difficult. When I do a tanning bed (which I do sometimes before I go somewhere sunny so I don't burn), I have to start out at like 3 minutes  I tried 5 minutes one time and burned my bum :scared1:

Kelly, your lunch sounds yummy! But I know what you mean about how hard it is to get back on track. :sad2:

And shredded cheese?

mmmm cheese....

I actually have a friend who is starting a business out of her home and has a spray tan ....thing...I don't know what you call it. I may give her a call. I tan pretty well when I am outside, but he kiddos are very white, like their daddy...so we don't go out much.

I am so sleepy. I think apple pie has tripdafphan in it....(sp?):scratchin

I have spray tanned, why? I have no idea, umm..ya cuz my friends went & they are all pasty white & I won a GC on the radio. It was fun, the radio was blasting and well I danced around (but so did the others during their turns):dancer:

 You didn't go wrong. It's just a hard age. They want to be more independent and start testing to see what they can get away with. As long as you are consistent with your rules and discipline, it will eventually get better.

Notice I said better, but not easier. ;) Each age presents it's own challenges. Especially the teens. :headache:

Isn't that the truth.
Kaeleb had terrible, 3s, 4s, 5s sometimes 9s....:rotfl2:

Afternoon! Glad everyone liked the pics! I had to take that cake in to work cuz I knew I would eat it and besides it was WAY too rich! It would seriously make you hurl if you ate too much cuz it was THAT rich! Those kinds of cakes LOOK good but are WAY too rich for my blood LOL.

Anyway for lunch mom and I went to La Bou and I had my usual, Chinese Chicken Salad and a bowl of chicken and rice soup. It was yummy as usual.

I haven't been on the WISH thread in forever cuz the medicine I have been on has made me eat like a horse. I have gained like 5 pounds. I am now on a new one but I have SO not been motivated to work out and I am ALWAYS hungry. THis is the first week on my new meds but so far I am still craving stuff. Course the new meds it has only been the second day so far so it is hard to tell but then last night I went to red lobster and had lobster and shrimp so that didn't help either.

It was YUM too!!! But anyway I have GOT to get things under control cuz I was SO not done with my diet before and now I am starting to go the opposite direction. NOT GOOD.

So hopefully I can get back under control before things get really out of hand! It sucks when you get all your cravings back and your big appetite back cuz it is really hard to get back to eating good again! BLEH!

Anyway I am about to pick up the girls and I talked to my mom friend from swim and I am still not sure about tonight. She thinks she may keep her kids out for one more night. I am still up in the air about it.

Also mom and I found a great airfare to D.C. yesterday on Delta and then just today that flight went up. They still have a flight for that price but now it has 2 lousy stops and gets in really late. :(

So we need to make a decision soon! But if we have to take this NEW flight we would have to leave home at like 6 a.m. and not get there till almost 10 at night. And originally we could have gotten in at 4 p.m. but now we will have to stop in Salt Lake AND Atlanta and the one flight only had a 40 min and a 30 min layover but we are thinking we need longer ones so we don't miss our connections AND so we have some time to get food. So it is going to be a LONG day! So hopefully we can make it all work.

I did find some nice hotels though back there. I just have NEVER been there though and it is hard when you are going somewhere you know NOTHING about cuz you don't want to end up in a bad part of town or whatever. Plus I have NO idea abuot how long it is going to take to see stuff and there is SO much to see and do and I have a ton of books but trying to plan a trip THERE is just overwhelming.

But anyway time to run! See ya later! :)

Hi Kelly, I am trying to plan my trip to DW for 2012 and having a hard time even though I have been there a couple times and used to sell it as a travel agent. Good luck with your DC planning...I hope it goes well. The last time I was there I was a junior in high school. I went with a group called Close UP and had a pretty good time. Lots to see and do!

I totally understand about the momentum of weight loss. Good luck getting back on track! I need to get there myself.

Tell your mom hi!

Sarah

Ouch! Burnt bum is not good. lol
Maybe try the spray tan again if it's been a couple years. I know they have come out with so many new techniques and versions of it.

This is so lame to admit, but I watched that Denise Richards reality show, can't recall the name now, but anyway, she had someone come to her home to do the spray tan on her and her dad, and it looked great!
I was like, hey, I want that too!! lol

I've never heard the term DINKS..but I caught myself daydreaming after reading that. I would probably be at DL once a month then.:love::love:
I'm sure they will end up just fine....and so will you. I don't care what anyone says...parenting is the toughest job there is!

I was a travel agent without kids...I literally went somewhere every month!

I actually think I have your childs cell phone number.

LOL
Right now I am dealing with the terrible 14's with my son. He's a good kid, not a trouble maker or anything, but he's got a sassy mouth on him. 'Course I have no clue where he gets that from. :confused3

:rolleyes1

My DS is turning 4 in two weeks. When he turned 3 he went from Angel to his present monstrosity of a self like a switch being turned on...I am praying for it to be tuned off the day he turns 4...he is just such a terror right now. Doesn't listen to a word I say.:sad2: where did I go wrong.

Sarah, try not to be so hard on yourself. I have a very "strong-willed" son for sue and he tried my patience at every turn. Whew, potty training was not fun (for me) at all. Frank always tells me that what we call stubborn now is called persistence and great negotiating skills later in life (and those are great qualities to have) :thumbsup2

When I start to feel overwhelmed by being a mommy (and Jesse is 13 now, so it's been a while), I really appreciate having some "me time" - get my nails done, hair done, what have you. It gives you a bit of time with adults and not having to worry about wiping someone's nose! What I found made life easier too with having a stubborn child was trying to not say no all the time. Find different ways to express the same thing. I know that Jesse responds better to that. For instance - if he asks for a cookie and it's too close to dinner time. If I say no, it can cause drama. If I say yes, but you have to eat dinner first - what's to argue with? I try to save the outright no for bigger issues. Hang in there! All moms have doubts at times...

Theresa had burned buns....:rotfl2:

Sarah~ I am sure you are doing a great job. Parenting is rough somedays. But anytime you need to vent you can call (I am usually at work, but its fine), or email or something. Oh btw how is your friend that came with you?

It is cold & raining outside, so we are skipping baseball tonight. After work I am headed to the store to get taco fixin's!! Yummo!!!! Maybe rent Bridewars, that movie was so darn funny!

You mean I have another 2 plus years of this...I quit.

Darlin', you've got 18 years of it. :rotfl2: Don't quit, just pour a drink, pull up a chair and ***** about it with us. ;)

My child's cell number huh? :rotfl: Yeah, well, let me PM you my home number unless you'd rather talk to Noelle. :rotfl:

I like that...he does respond better to possitive statements...my dh jumps straight to no which gets my ds's goat. He does have qualities which will work well later in life...if he uses them for good and not evil:scared:.

Ok, done worrying about kids...next topic...or should we go back to the taco talk!

(I really appreciate all the good advice and support...what would I do without you all!)

That sounds good! The rain and the tacos.

Don't rent Doubt with Meryl Streep. I watched that today after forgetting I'd rented it last night, and it was so blah and depressing. She's good in it and all, but it was just a downer of a movie.

I am not a travel agent, but I go somewhere every 3 months or so. At least once a year. Thank God for family, or this mommy would go crazy!!

You mean I have another 2 plus years of this...I quit.

:rotfl2: :lmao: Oh sweetie if it were that easy, I would quit chunkyness....

LOL

You'd be miserable, that's what. See, aren't you glad you have us. :p

So along the lines of the taco talk, one of my favorite things to make, even for dinner, is a breakfast burrito. Mmmmmm.

I use the really large flour tortillas, then add scrambled egg, shredded cheese, sausage, crispy seasoned hash browns, lettuce, tomato, sour cream and salsa. Wrap it all up, all warm and steamy and eat it with chips and guacamole. Sooooooo good. :cloud9:

I have no clue how many calories are in there, but it's delicious.

That sounds very yummy!!

We love breakfast burrito's, but I use bacon, I don't really like sausage.

Oh man - now I WANT tacos and burritos and chips and guacamole :upsidedow

Lord - it's been a day! Frank was driving and one of the back tires exploded  He changed to the spare and we had to go to Costco and ended up getting four new tires, plus Jesse's $100 worth of prescriptions (yucky nose and eczema), plus groceries because we were there - bye bye $1000 so fast my head is spinning!!! I had a $1.99 hot dog and a soft drink for lunch (tried to cheap out from the smoking debit card!!!).

...... but now I feel like running to the store and getting the stuff for tacos - or going to the Mexican restaurant :rolleyes1

I was a travel agent for 5 years too but I had a baby so I wasn't able to travel every month but I did get away as much as possible!

Kids - They DO grow up and you WILL live through it even though it's hard to imagine right now! And when they leave to go to college you'll cry and your house will be so quiet and you'll be waiting for them to call you and you'll wonder where did the years go...really you will! Hmmm...wondering when my college age daughter is going to call?? ;)
