Girls Only Trip (old planning thread, see link to new one in 1st post)

Aw Beth, I hope you got some good memories in with your Grandma. It's funny in a way....as sad as I get sometimes when I think about my grandma, I still sit there with a smile on my face when I think back to things we did.
That's nice. And how it should be. :)

Now don't be shy and get to dropping those hints. They have two weeks to shop and plan and you deserve it!

Been busy catching up on homework today. Have a huge project due tomorrow, and I just submitted my first copy.
Good luck!

Thank you....very excited about this.....especially since we were told after she was born that she may never walk! We always held out more hope for her than the medical professionals...... that's why her middle name is now Hope! :cloud9:
That is so amazing. Wow, thanks for sharing something so special with us!! YAY for first steps!! :wizard:

Just checking in real quick. My computer is still broken and I'm actually at the library checking my email and such :headache:.
Ugh, that sucks. I hope you can get it up and running again soon.

For some reason Jesse just makes me laugh. Its like he just doesn't care. He will say what he wants.

This year, I am going to Vegas  :cool1:
I know, I love that about him. Even my DH was just busting up every time Jesse said something else.

I'm so glad you're coming to Vegas!!! I can't wait!!! :cool1:
Hmmmm, maybe Janelle needs to join us...... :rolleyes1

Laurie (I'm sorry I think that is your name Diznee Luver) that is so awesome about your little one walking!!

Do you mind if I ask what the circumstances were for them getting taken away? If you can't say I understand but I am just curious. Was their mom a druggie or was it a violence issue? I was just wondering because she is a beautiful little girl and to be taken away at birth like that is just so sad. I mean don't get me wrong it is WONDERFUL for you and those children and I am sure they are 1 million times better off then where they probably were but I just wondered what their mother must have done to them. I know we have a friend who adopted a drug baby and he is now 14 or 15 I believe. They had a heck of a time with him at first and I know he has some developmental delays because of it but he is ONE lucky boy for getting the parents he did! Then his mom and dad went on to have a biological son but he was SO lucky to get them as parents and it sounds like these children are VERY lucky to have you and your husband as well! I so admire people that take in and adopt foster children!!

Hello ladies! Just checking in on my way out the door for a Costco run. I'm anxiously awaiting a MA report! Sounds like a fantastic time was had by all!
Oooh, I need some milk and bottled water. Would you mind picking some up while your there? Just swing by Vegas and drop it off. Thanks. ;)

Thank you.....a bit confusing with ALL my kids..... it was her twin that had the egg issue......
And thanx about the middle name..... it was fun that we got to name them since we got them right from the hospital....their birth names weren't the best & we started calling them by our names from the beginning....it just took 22 months for it to become legal!!
Michayla's is Hope & Shyann's is Faith.......Adaleah's middle name got changed for the adoption as well....hers is Grace. :upsidedow

By the way the birthnames were: Faith Kathryn (Shyann's)...not super bad, just didn't mean anything to us but poor Michayla's was Justice Muriel~ :scared1:

Oh those are great names. I love Michayla's name. Justice well interesting!

I know, I love that about him. Even my DH was just busting up every time Jesse said something else.

I'm so glad you're coming to Vegas!!! I can't wait!!! :cool1:
Hmmmm, maybe Janelle needs to join us...... :rolleyes1

I love how REAL he is. He just doesn't care. Sometimes I wish they didn't censor what he was saying, it would make it way funnier with his potty mouth!!

Thanks! I can't wait for Vegas!

Janelle....whatchya doin in June??? Do you need a vacation??? We have wine & chocolate!!

Those are great names Laurie! I've spent a few years working in NICU's, and it is amazing to me some of the names, stories, and things that some people do. That's one thing about nursing, you have to remember that not everyone has the same standards, morals, and virtues that you do! From the mother who did cocaine at her baby shower (because "how can you celebrate without it"), to the one who had to get back to me with the baby's last name because she wanted him to have his father's last name, but she didn't know what it was, and on and on. You have to seperate yourself from that, and know that these babies and their parents are on this earth for a purpose, and I am here to help them find their way. So many of my coworkers would go home with babies, I almost did myself, but the mother changed her mind and decided to keep him.

Now, as far as names go, I've seen some doosies! My favorite by far was the little girl named Awaii D'island (first and middle names). We also had a little girl whose parents named her buzzsaw, she had gorwn up with us, and answered to buzzsaw. :sad2:

Your little girls are so lucky to have you Laurie. I hope to get in a position once we're settled down and help some babies out again. I miss them.

Thank you Beth...... baby firsts are very exciting!!!

The twins parents were dabbling in meth but the biggest reason why is their inability to parent children (low IQ's). The birthmom is 30 & has popped out 9 kids. She doesn't have custody of any of them. The father is the dad to the last 5 kids. All of these kids are "train wrecks"....genetically, developmentally & medically.
The twins have a brother (6) who is severally autistic. The sister (4) is also autistic but not physically violent like the brother. Next are the twins followed by another brother born last September. He has kidney failure, a wrinkle in his brain that causes seizures & vision issues.
Michayla has Pierre Robin & had a huge cleft palate (not lip), recessed chin, 2 holes in her heart, apnea, breathing, swallowing & eating issues. The palate has been repaired, the chin is growing out enough to keep her from having apnea & swallowing issues. She still has the holes in her heart & is due for a sedated echo in June to see the progress there. She is 100% g-tube fed because she has an oral aversion to everything. She won't accept a spoon, bottle, toothbrush, finger, toy, etc in her mouth or even touching her lips.
Her sister has a lot of the same issues but milder. She had a soft palate (no hard bone in the roof of her mouth, but it was closed) & she has one hole in her heart & pulminary stenosis. She eats orally, but very little & only a couple things. She still bottle feeds for most of her nutrients.
Genetically the parents together make bad mojo!!! Luckily mom got her tubes tied after the boy born in Sept.
There was no way they could have handled a healthy baby....but twins with medical issues was out of the question. That's how we knew we would be keeping them from the beginning.
They've come a long ways & is very exciting to see what new thing they will do.

Most of the kids we've taken in came from meth-homes. These kids all come with issues from the exposure, but we've learned to deal with each one differently & remember there are reasons for their behaviors.

Ok,......enough for the novel........

Oh those are great names. I love Michayla's name. Justice well interesting!

We kinda think it was because she felt it was Justice for her to have a sick baby.........

Most people thought it was a boy with that name.

I imagine you have seen some real winners in the NICU!!!
Buzzsaw....how sad is that?

We feel like the lucky ones :cloud9:

I won't say too much since Heather hasn't seen it, but I watch it too and I loved last night's episode!! :rotfl: I was cracking up at the end. So much drama. lol
And the scenes with Jesse and Clint....... :rotfl2: Jesse wasn't holding anything back. popcorn::

It was funny, especially the end. What drama and I sat there thinking why am I watching this but it's like watching a train wreck you just help but watch!!

So what are you ladies up to today? Me? Do I have a story for YOU!

I just had a toilet water blow up extravaganza in my parent's back bathroom. That potty has issues I swear there is a ghost trapped inside of it. I go to get my wallet to get my CC# to book HoJo's for October and I hear this trickle. I get a vibe and go back there and the bowl is full and over flowing!!!! We're talking a steady GUSH! I launched myself to the water shut off knob on the back wall and the entire toilet wobbles! Need I remind you that I am house sitting for my parents. This is exactly why I rent instead of own!

Thank goodness for the Divas, DL and HoJo, otherwise I'd have a major problem on my hands! We better get an awesome room! :rotfl:

ps. My parent's don't own a mop so I have every towel in the house mopping the mess up. BUT I just remembered my dad has a shop vac. Oh well too late :confused3

That's nice. And how it should be. :)

I will start leaving those subtle hints.....oh now I certainly need some pampering. As for Vegas....as much as I'd love to there's no way I could pull that one off. I've never been to Vegas so I'd be the Vegas Virgin!! LOL

You almost had me with the wine and chocolate though....that sounds heavenly! :cloud9:

Wow! You are amazing and your children are so lucky to have you! :lovestruc
I second that Laurie!

That's ok! We have two others who've never been before. What better time to go then with other Vegas virgins, and some Divas to show you around. LOL ;)

Oh the stories I'd come home with!!

So off topic here....Ayden's dr wants me to bring him in for a throat culture...a dr's office is the last place I want to be right now :( :( :(

Just checking in real quick. My computer is still broken and I'm actually at the library checking my email and such :headache:.

I had a great time at Cheryl's on Saturday night and really needed a night out with out the older kids . I had a great time seeing Cheryl, Michelle, Stacie, Amy and Wendy again. And really enjoyed meeting Dawn for the 1st time. She's very sweet.

Little Churo was so cute in person. I thought he'd be smaller.

So is anyone doing a TR for MA?? I'd like to get the details.

Well I miss posting on the boards and hopefully everyone is well & I haven't missed too much.

I'll talk to you all soon!

Later

I'm hoping we can talk Stacie into posting a Sat. night/Sunday trip report.

Friday night was a blur (three bottles of wine and two pitchers of margaritas will do that to a person . . . .. )

Michelle left at 6 a.m., Wendy left at 6:30 a.m. and I dropped Dawn at the airport at 11:30 a.m. So I'm back at work--sigh. What a comeback to reality.

But I'm TIRED :surfweb: not enough caffeine yet, definitely. But we had so much fun--I wish everyone could have been here to participate. I know our team had a great time, and I think Linda, Bree, Stacie and Amy had a wonderful time too.

We watched Twilight last night, but Michelle and I were the only ones to stick it out till the end--Dawn was getting sick and Wendy was really tired.

Ok--gotta run--I'll check in tonight.

P.S. -=-Little Churro is so cute (and he knows it!) He was quite active this weekend flirting with all the girls. Pictures to follow.

Laurie, your kids are so lucky to have you and your family.

Bridgette~ :scared1: That is why I rent & not own. Maybe someday.

Cheryl~ Dawn sent me the cutest picture of Churro. I can't wait to see more pics from the wknd.

I don't blame you, but better to find out what's going on. Good luck.
