Girls Only Trip (old planning thread, see link to new one in 1st post)

Hey now! I haven't watched it yet! I'll keep it to myself though so the ending won't be revealed for DH.
Aww crap...sorry..I didn't know you watched it. It was good though. Let me know when you watch, so we can talk about!

Good morning everyone! :surfweb:

I'm tired, but hope to wake up soon. Beth, I don't know if I mentioned it before, but I really like the pink tie dye shirt you posted at fashion bug. Would you mind if I got it? (You did have first dibs on it!)

DH got me a new laptop for mother's day! I now wish I had purchased the retro disneyland computer sleeve. Hopefully they will still have it in October. I love all that retro stuff, and thank Beth for getting me started with her tote bag! :yay:

OK, I'll talk with you all later! :wizard:

Heather

What a nice Mother's day gift!!

I am so tired. I swear the closer I get to completing my AA, the more homework I have. My friends in nursing school have tons of homework. I applied for the nursing program. Its still up in the air if I will go this year or next year. I have issues with quitting my job & medical issues for the insurance. My friend Melissa, whom I should be graduating from the nursing program with in June (but the issue of single jobless mom freaks me out), keeps telling me, you will only be without a job for 9 months. Then in the summer you can get a job as an LPN.
Ok enough of my rambling....

Good morning Divas!!!

Hope everyone has a great Monday.

Sounds like MA was a success! I can't wait to see the pictures. The stitch butt certainly has me curious lol

DizneeLuvr, I hope your daughter is ok now. What a day that must have been!

I ended up staying home from work today. I still hurt so bad. Anyway, enough complaining about that, I think you all know how upset I am about that.

Ayden is staying home too. He still doesn't feel great, he's congested and I'd rather him rest than end up like I did for the month.

There is a school less than a mile away from us that is closed this week for fear of the swine flu. One student just returned from Mexico and went home sick last week with symptoms of the virus. Now 7 in the school are out sick. They haven't confirmed it's swine virus yet but it's really hitting home now. As much as I have been in and out of the Drs lately...and Ayden had an appointment last week, it just makes me super nervous. AGH!!!

Anyway, I hope you all have good Monday. :grouphug:

Good morning ladies!

January, you asked me awhile ago, the link to my TR is in my siggie. I'm happy we leave tomorrow, I'm tired of work!

Laurie, I hope your DD is okay, poor thing!

Janelle, poor Ayden. I hope he feels better. That's scary about the swine flu thing at the other school. Especially because you hear it all in the news and don't really think it's going on nearby you.

Hope everyone is having a nice Monday morning!

It just makes me want to take up camp at home and never leave. I know we can't live our lives like that....but it just seems like we can't be too careful nowadays. I hope you have a WONDERFUL time at Disneyland Courtney!

I remember nursing school, and it is a lot of work, but doable. I understand your fear of not having a job, but in the end it will be sooo much better for you , right? The nursing school I went to also had the option to become an LPN after the first year. Several girls lost faith and went that route. I would highly suggest that you don't give up there if you do that. If you're going to school just bite the bullet and get it over with. There are so many more opportunities for an RN, and the pay is so much better. I did some babysitting while I was in nursing school. I hope it works out for you, let me know if you need anything.

Will they send out a letter to the nearby houses if they find out that kid does have swine flu? Just so everyone in the neighborhood knows?

Thank you so much, Janelle!!! I'm SO excited to go!!!! :goodvibes :yay:

Thanks Heather, luckily our college has the progam w/ the option of getting your LPN after your first year. Most of my friends are nurses or in the healthcare field. In the end, yes, it will be so much better. I will continue to get my RN. Around here most of the places you can get a job with just an LPN is in a retirement/nursing home. Which is fine for a few years, to pay off some of my student loans. When I first started school, my goal was to become the DNS of our local nursing home & turn it around. But the most of the staff, admin & others are just not caring at all. They are there to do a job and go home. Its really sad.

Sorry I was a bit AWOL yesterday, my 3 yr old decided to feed a bite of eggs to one of my twins........ she's very allergic!!!!!! We spent the day cleaning up puke....poor little thing!
Oh no, poor thing is right. And poor you too. I remember once when my twins were around 2 years old, they both caught a stomach flu at the same time. Of course at that age, they cannot make it to the toilet and barely to a bucket, so I was struggling to stay on top of things. Ruben was at work, and I was home alone, so I felt like all day long all I did was race around and clean up vomit. :scared: (Gee, hope no one is eating breakfast right now.....lol)

Aww, I'm glad you liked the retro stuff. I know it's not everyone's thing so I was nervous!

As for the tee, I posted two pink ones. A pale pink, and a darker almost burgandy. That's the one I ended up getting.

But I don't mind at all if that's the one you want too! We'll match. :goodvibes Right now, Fashion Bug has a Buy One Top or Bottom, and get one 50% off.

Congrats on the awesome Mother's Day gift btw. :)

A bit depressed that we didn't have anyone look at our house this weekend, and I had it looking all spiffy.

Wow, that is scary. I don't blame you for being nervous. I've been trying not to buy into the hype too much, but it's everywhere you read, and on the news, so it's starting to get to me. It's just so sad for all those people in Mexico who've lost loved ones to this.

Sorry to hear you and Ayden are still feeling so badly. :grouphug:

I'm happy we leave tomorrow, I'm tired of work!
Whoo hooo for DL tomorrow!! Have a great time! :wizard:

That would be a great idea if they did...I have no idea though.
I'm sooo thankful Ayden goes to a very small private school.....his school will really be on alert. Everyone knows when anyone is on vacation or ill etc. That gives me a little peace of mind. It's the things we can't control that I worry about.

Aww crap...sorry..I didn't know you watched it. It was good though. Let me know when you watch, so we can talk about!
I won't say too much since Heather hasn't seen it, but I watch it too and I loved last night's episode!! :rotfl: I was cracking up at the end. So much drama. lol
And the scenes with Jesse and Clint....... :rotfl2: Jesse wasn't holding anything back. popcorn::

Yea I was thinking the same thing.....only a few cases in CA and none in Northern California...now it might be right up the street??? Say it isn't so. I agree...those poor families in Mexico, it's just devastating. I guess it's safe to say they just don't have the medical advances we have here since over 100 have died there and not one here....yet. :confused3

Speaking of Mother's Day, it's coming up in less than two weeks now. I bought some cards over the weekend to send to my mom in MI and to my MIL in CA.

Anyone have any special plans for their moms, or their Grandma's or themselves?

I told Ruben I didn't want him to get me anything. I bought myself some new clothes and shoes over the weekend, and also some last weekend come to think of it :rolleyes1, so I said that's plenty.
Plus I'd rather save money for June when the Divas are here. :cool1:

So here it will be the usual breakfast in bed, flowers, and homemade cards. Which is fine with me. :goodvibes

I guess. They did say also that the ones in the U.S. who've caught it have had less severe symptoms for whatever reason, so that's good news.

I always have my kids wash their hands when they get home from school, but it's things like this that make you realize just how much is out of our hands when it comes to protecting our families.

Anyway. Too depressing. We need happy thoughts. :wizard: :rotfl: Maybe Courtney will sneak me in to Disneyland with her...... :rolleyes1

hahahaha the new clothes sound great!!! This will probably sound strange but Mother's Day is hard for me. It makes me feel like a single person would feel on Valentines Day. I think it's since my divorce that I have felt like that. My ex husband used to always have Ayden scribble a card for me, and my stepdaughter always made me a card too. It's just different now. Chris has helped Ayden color me a picture and such, but I've never gotten that lavish Mother's Day of breakfast in bed or gifts. I know that's not what the day is all about....but the day just seems to make me sad for some reason. Both of my grandma's have passed away and I miss them both soooooo very much. My mom lives close, but she just sees it as another day. I always get her a card but she has never gotten me one. Heck my birthday was in February and I never got a card. Boy I really bring a whole different shade of gray to this group don't I? I feel like such a downer. :sad1:

Oh gosh Beth...don't read my Mother's Day post then!!! About Disneyland...I could sit on the porch on Mainstreet for the day and be thrilled. As long as you promise to drop off some Gibson girl, and a churro every once in awhile. :)

Beth thanks for the wishes for Shelby's birthday. She was SO excited today. She finally got to take something to school and Katy was SO jealous LOL. Plus both Grandma called and Shane to wish her a happy birthday so that made her day! :) Tonight we are taking her to Red Lobster of all places. That is where she wants to go. Kid has good taste! Then over to grandma's afterwards for cake and to open presents.

Anyway I know this swine flu thing is really scary. I know that school too! Half the kids on our swim team go there as well as my entire soccer team excluding my kids! Some of those kids go to our church and we JUST had a group go to Mexico for a mission over spring break!!! It really is scary. We JUST got an e-mail from the swim team just now saying that SO far none of the kids being tested for the flu are on our swim team but if ANY of the kids have the symptoms to please NOT come to practice. GREAT!!!!

My kids were around these kids at practice, church etc!!!! SCARY!!! I mean it just makes you think how close this stuff is! Plus who knows what could be lurking even at MY kids school. I mean who knows what kids may have gone to Mexico or anywhere else on spring break! My parents are supposed to go to Mexico in June but like my mom said who knows what will be going on by then with this thing. Now my mom is like I don't know WHAT is going on with our trip to D.C. but again who knows. I mean that is D.C. but who the heck knows what is going to happen. It could be better or worse in a few weeks. All I can think about is the stand!

Ok enough of that LOL.

Anyway I am once again not working today but tomorrow instead cuz mom has stuff going on today so it is a date with the laundry basket. I did finally call and make an appt with an OB so I can find out about getting my headaches fixed. I have been taking the birth control pills now straight since Oct to avoid the migraines and it has been working but I have been worried about the side affects and some docs think you should let your body have a break from the pills to have an AF once in awhile while others think you don't have to. I talked to my regular doc and the neurologist but they said I needed to talk to an OB. SOOOO I have an apt next week. So far I have not had an AF since last Oct and no real migraines either. I have had a few small headaches but so far the theory has worked. But I also worry about the side affects of taking the pills non stop and the regular doc says you HAVE to have an AF once in a while so we shall see. I have done a LOT of research and some says you don't have to that that is a myth. So hopefully this OB can answer that question because all I know is that what I DON'T want is the headaches and when I stop taking the pills for that week I get excrutiating headaches to the point I almost have to go to the ER!

Plus the closer I am getting to menopause the worse AF is getting if you know what I mean. Heavier, cramps etc! REALLY bad! So it has been nice not having to deal with it! I just hope I can get some positive answers!

Anyway I better go get started on the old laundry!

See ya later.

We always watch it on Monday night after work. Now you have me excited to see it! Can I wait until 8PM?

The swine flu is scary, and it is so sad that so many have lost loved ones in Mexico. Here in Tucson we get lots of mexican patients who have family here in the US. So, I'm sure it will come our way. We just have to be vigilant to keep our hands clean, remind family not to touch their faces, and when out, avoid people with coughs (easier said than done). You know we were all told to cover our mouths when coughing and sneezing, but have you ever thought about it? If you cover your mouth with your hand, then everything you touch after that is coated with your germs. There has been a big push over the last few years to teach people to cough into their sleeve (bring the inside of your elbow up to your mouth). Research has shown that this greatly reduces the spread of germs. Your inside elbow doesn't touch many door knobs, rails, money, etc or shake hands. OK, that's the end of my community nursing speech!

Here's a somewhat silly video about this subject if you are interested: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Wju7F5ytk6M&feature=related

I just pray that this strain of flu is short lived.

I told my DH I wanted a trip to DL for Mother's Day, but rolled his eyes and ignored me. My parents will be out of town at my brother's for the weekend and my MIL now lives in Michigan, so our traditional multi-generational mothers' day brunch won't be happening. I guess I need to think of something to suggest...spa treatment? I still would like DL, but I unfortunately that's just too much to ask. :sad1:
