I just wanted to let you know that have a small memento for each DL Diva as a keepsake from the trip. It's something tiny that scrapbookers might especially enjoy. Be sure to get one from me sometime during the weekend. :goodvibes

You are such a sweetie.

OT- I love the castle in your sig. Just like the cards you made last year. Would you mind if I stole it to use in my sig sometime?

lulubelle, I just realized I'm coming in on Friday (or rather, I realized you wrote Thursday, but I'm coming on Friday), so I won't be able to lend my card. Sorry!

Oh that is so nice of you!

I just wanted to let everyone know that I got off the phone a little bit ago with my BFF. Her DD is out of surgery and is doing well. The surgeon said it went better than they thought it was going to go. The next 24 hours are critical, but the docs have said that everything should go as planned. BFF and her DH are exhausted. One will be staying in the room with the baby, and the other will be staying in the Ronald McDonald house. They also have a 22 month old who is staying with their parents.

Thank you to everyone who prayed and sent good wishes. The family is grateful and thanks you. Please keep them in your thoughts as they go through the recovery now.

Things I need to do today:
* Buy LGMH and other assorted colors
* return extra t-shirt & camisole to Wal-mart

hhhmmm.. well... it is sad here.
my mom just called and one of our good lifelong friends, daughter is dying of cancer and they have called hospice in. They think she will pass while we are gone on our trip. So my mother and i have been picking out flowers to send to the funeral and writing it all down for my husband to order. And we also picked out a lovely bird bath with a St. Francis statue for our friends garden as a rememberance of her daughter. It is very sad.. she has 5 children and is so young to be dying. Cancer is a vile theif.
Our friend has been somewhat in denial for a year, my mother pressing her to go be with her daughter more so she has no regrets of time not shared later.. and finally last week our friend broke down to my mother crying that her daughter is dying. My mom was there with and for her..such a good friend. It's just so sad. For who wants to admit their child is dying. Very Very heartbreaking.

I'm so so sorry, Dawn. I can't even imagine that! Hugs to you and them!

I just became aware of this during breakfast today, but it's lent.

Will anyone have challenges with our Friday dining schedule due to Lent and not eating meat?

:rotfl:

Of course, if hubby and son could go, I'm sure they would be happy to watch Maddie. Especially since Maddie and Eamon are both 4 and he would feel that she was his best friend forever within a minute. :)

Friday.

I guess I could call, but I'm kinda freaking out about this trip anyway, totally unprepared...but I should call, just in case.

Cheryl, did you dump Sunday's room? :rotfl:

This
says it's online only, but the store might have something in the color. I've noticed it's generally the style that is online-only.

I have not dumped Sunday's room.

Ok ladies, now I really need prayers and pixie dust--big time.

a little surprised to see me here at 3:30 a.m.? wasn't I supposed to be at Disneyland with my Mom? Well, I was. We checked into the Paradise Pier at 3-ish and went over to guest services and turned in her Costco voucher and got her new annual pass and gift card,. Then we went to DCA and tooled around--took in the Bug show and had a late lunch/early dinner at the Pacific Wharf Cafe. It was starting to get cold--and lines were really long, so around 7-ish we decided to head back over to the hotel. We were almost at the hotel and she was behind me--and all of a sudden I heard this crash. How it happened I don't know--but she had toppled over on her scooter into the street!@!!!! I guess the incline was too much or something and over she went. She was immediately in a lot of pain and people (non-Disney people) came running from everywhere. It was amazing. One lady ran in the hotel and asked for help and security came out. People were standing around her to make sure a car didn't pull into the hotel and hit her lying on the ground. Security said a nurse was on her way and she would examine my Mom and make an assessment of whether paramedics were necessary. Well, I could tell from her moans that they were necessary so I told him to just call them--which he did over his radio. Security people kept arriving, then the fire dept. arrived then two nurses arrived. One lovely lady (a complete stranger) was sitting with my Mom this whole time holding her leg up to keep it from hurting while I was talking to the security/fire/nurse/paramedic people. Of course, they decided to transport her to UCI Medical Center. I took her scooter upstairs and then drove my car to the emergency room. By the time I got in to see her they had already taken x-rays and within minutes they came and told us that her hip was broken and she would need surgery.

The next few hours were doctor after doctor coming in to examine her. Finally around 1:30 a.m. they moved her to a room, where we then had to go through another whole round of questions about her medical condition. I got home about 20 minutes ago and am trying to de-stress enough to go to sleep. I went and checked out of the room. We don't know what time the surgery will be later today. I'm going to try to sleep for a couple of hours then call the hospital for news.

So prayers and pixie dust for my Mom please! (Oh, and the hotel was kind enough to refund all of my money--oh, and one other weird thing--when I came back to the room to put the scooter in before going to the hospital they had given us turn-down service, left three giant Mickey rice crispie treats and many chocolates, a picture of Mickey and Minnie and a towel animal! (well, really a towel cake). I don't know why. I'm really bummed because my Mom would have been really tickled. And I'm feeling terrible that if I hadn't taken her to DL this wouldn't have happened. .. . .

That's so sweet of you! I used to scrapbook, but don't have time for it now. I do enjoy the occasional digital scrapbook using a program from creative memories. Thanks so much! :goodvibes

I'm so glad that the baby is doing well. I used to work in this field (newborn/pediatric intensive care), and it is amazing how fast most babies bounce back. I will continue to pray for them.

Oh my! I'm so sorry that this happened. I pray that God gives her the strength to rehab that hip super fast. I hope everything gets settled in for you quickly. Do you think you'll still be able to make our trip? Let me know if you need anything. I'm a good listener and an ortho nurse on top of that.

Oh my goodness, Cheryl! I hope your mom is okay - what a traumatic end to the day. I'm so sorry. I pray that her surgery goes well and she is not in too much pain. I also pray that you can take care of yourself during this stressful time. It is completely not your fault!! Do not at all blame yourself, I'm sure your mother would not think that. If you brought the Mickey Krispies, bring one to your mom when she is out of surgery (and able to eat) - I'm sure she would still love it!

Well, I have today off, and then I work three days, and then it's our trip!!!! :dance3:  :rotfl: :cool1: :yay: :cheer2: :rotfl2:

I'm going to start packing today! That always makes me excited.

I wear mineral makeup, and so have little jars of powders. They won't fuss at me carrying these on will they? I think it's only liquids they are suspicious of, but I thought I'd check with you all to see if anyone knows. I would seriously cry if they took all my makeup away. Stacie would have a real mess on her hands! :sad2:

Nathan is awake already, and is in there singing to himself. He had a rough day yesterday. I hope this signals a better day. He started lining things up the day before yesterday, and when the therapist came yesterday, he tantrummed the whole time. We all have bad days I guess.

OK, talk with you all later! I hope you have a fun weekend planned.

Oh Cheryl! I am so sorry to hear that your fun weekend with your mom was ruined and that your mom is in the hospital facing surgery. But, as with so many other situations that the Divas have been dealing with recently, you cannot blame yourself and you can't/shouldn't feel guility about the fact that you planned the trip where she got hurt. Hang in there and I'll be sending good thoughts your way as your mom undergoes her surgery today!:wizard: :wizard: :wizard:

Stacie - that's great that baby is doing well and the surgery went better than expected!

I just became aware of this during breakfast today, but it's lent.

Will anyone have challenges with our Friday dining schedule due to Lent and not eating meat?

Not for me..... But I did have pancakes for dinner on Tuesday (Fat Tuesday). We have been doing this for years (I used to work at a Catholic hospital that still had nuns in residence and we had pancakes for lunch there - just kept up the tradition even though we're not Catholic).

Debra - HAPPY BIRTHDAY!!! party: :bday: It is today, right??

Thanks everyone. But I think Heather is right that the Ent rate is gone for Sunday. Boo Hoo. I will ask when I check in and worst case scenario is they make me pay the rate we already have for Th-Fr-Sa, right? I can deal with that. Actually I will call tomorrow and try to speak with in-house reservations.

Everyone must wear their Tink shirt for the group Pix. Mine is tight, too, but I'm wearing it anyway. After that, who cares. Ha!

Linda, just a suggestion, but I am leaving on Sunday evening and my roommates (Heather and Stacielee) will be short one roomie. You may want to check with them to see if you can stay with them.

I have not dumped Sunday's room.

Oh no Cheryl! What a horrible ordeal for you and your mom. But I am so pleased to hear that the people at DLR were so helpful (both CM's and guests). I'm sure your mom doesn't blame you so you shouldn't blame yourself either. You were having a magical Disney experience together, which you are always so generous to provide your mom. to you as you deal with the hospital this weekend.

Sounds ridiculous reading that you would blame yourself for this. But I must admit when I invited my extended family to a trip to DL last year not wanting anything to go wrong as I just felt responsible for everything. It's not rational, but I understand how you feel. It is NOT your fault. You seem to take care of your mother so very well.

Happy Friday Everyone!

I was thinking that this trip is so special. I have so many new friends and old ones that I want to get to know better.:goodvibes I was planning on leaving Sunday afternoon, but after talking to DH & DD I am going to stay Sunday night, too! I REALLY want to have the Lobster Nachos and a cocktail at the Cove Bar Sunday. It has been on my list of things to do for three years, so I am doing it Sunday. And going to the fireworks that night, too. Then I will get up at 6 am Monday and drive to work. But, I need a favor from someone. My Entertainment Card expired two months ago. Can someone lend me theirs sometime during the trip so I can add Sunday night at the Ent Rate? Pretty Please?:flower3:

I have plenty of entertainment cards, will be there around 3 on Thursday, and am glad to share if you need it.

:

So I've got to check what meals I have planned and try to find things on the menu that I can actually chew. I'm not sure if I should keep my spot at Blue Bayou. I don't know what to order there that is soft. :confused3 I wanted to eat there for the atmosphere, but if I can't eat what's the point.
Ugh, I'm so annoyed. :headache:

I think dessert is a lovely idea, but should you want any meat, I can assure you that the ribs are melt in your mouth delicous! Big though. Hubby and I shared and it was plenty! The potatoes will be easy, and if you can stand spinache (everyone says it is good, but I didn't try it) go that route, because the asparagus is steamed crisp.

Oh dear. Well, here is a tip because it could help you in the future. We were at WDW three weeks ago and tried to buy some Immodium at a gift shop at Epcot. They sent us to First-Aid where they gave it to us for free. The nurses were so nice there, they gave us more for later even.

I can't say for sure that DL does the same, and it's always better to bring your own, but if you are ever stuck in WDW again, that's where to go.

ADDED: Disneyland
First Aid Center is located at the end of Main Street across from Central Plaza.

California Adventure
First Aid Center is located near the ‘Mission Tortilla Factory’ in the Pacific Wharf area.

Downtown Disney
First Aid Center is located between ‘Ralph Brennan’s Jazz Kitchen’ and ‘Island Charters’.

(from the disboard. Someone tells how the first aid center gave her ibuprophen for her daughter, so they are good to know about)

I love the first aid stations and agree completely with Molly about the ice bags. I don't know how they do it...must be disney magic.

I just wanted to let you know that have a small memento for each DL Diva as a keepsake from the trip. It's something tiny that scrapbookers might especially enjoy. Be sure to get one from me sometime during the weekend. :goodvibes

Awe! You are so darn sweet. I'm a scrapper and will be hitting you up:)

I have not dumped Sunday's room.

Ok ladies, now I really need prayers and pixie dust--big time.

. .

Wow Cheryl, I am so sorry that you and your Mom are dealing with this accident! Don't be hard on yourself. Your Mom would not have wanted to be any other place than with you at Disnleyland. Take in the Mickey picture with the rice crispy. I'm sure it will cheer her up. I am glad to hear that you were treated so well by both the guests and the staff when this happened. Take care, and do keep us posted as to how your Mom is progessing.

Stacerita,
So glad to hear the baby is on her way to recovery.

And I'm feeling terrible that if I hadn't taken her to DL this wouldn't have happened. .. . .

 Please don't blame yourself for this, accidents happen. Keeping you and your mom in my thoughts and prayers. I hope that you are able to get some rest. Let us know how her surgery goes when you have a chance.

So today we have to pick up Selena's pre-ordered Girl Scout cookies. Josh and I purchased 10 boxes but neither of us want them in the house :rotfl: . So I'm thinking of bringing several boxes with me to the trip. The rest I'm just going to hand out to people at my work. Hope you all don't mind cookies in addition to the candy bar....;)

We also have a birthday party to go to today.

Hope you all have a nice day, talk to you later.
