Beth: I hope everything goes well with you guys today.

I am sitting here with my heart pounding--I may have to make a court appearance in an hour or so. I haven't done one in about 20 years! (other than testifying as an expert witness). Yikes!!!!

Im sure you will do great. Good luck!

Morning everyone! Thank you all for the well wishes, thoughts and prayers. It means a lot to me.
I just heard from Ruben and they are on their way home. :yay: So far it seems like everything went smoothly. He had some pins put in and now will be in a cast from his finger tips half way up his arm. Geez, all this for a tiny broken finger!!

But I am glad it went ok. I hope it continues to heal and there is no infection!
Well, I'm off to get in the shower before they get home. I'll check back later.

Thanks again. :grouphug:

Glad to hear that it went well.

Thanks for everyone's support on the ex-bf issues. He sent me two messages, one last night and one this morning. Both begging me back asking if there was anything he could do to not lose me. And that he will always love me. Not what I wanted to deal with.

Did any of you ladies going to Mimi's for breakfast see the thread on a free breakfast at Mimi's if you join the club? I checked it out and if you do it, don't do it quite yet (the coupon is only good for 15 days after you sign up). :thumbsup2 I'm gonna do it!

Right on, would you mind sending me a reminder as it gets closer? I am thinking of doing that breakfast so would like to be prepared!

Sarah

Oh, and I'm putting it out there again....anyone want to meet me on Tues., 2/17 to go around DLR for my bday? Or maybe just for lunch or something?

I wish I could Michelle. Tuesdays are my long day. I start work at 7:30 and am there till around 4. Then I have class from 5-10 that night, UGH!

Good morning ladies. I am sick! Yuck! Woke up at 3am not feeling too good. By 4am I was sicker than I have been in a long time. Thank God my parents now live near us (yes, I truly am thankful for this. I have a great relationship with them and my mom in particular is a huge help EVERY day!)
Anyway, she will be watching the kids today as I can't get too far from a bathroom! :scared1:
Hopefully I will get some rest this way. :thumbsup2

Becci

You are so lucky to have people to help....I was yearning for a Robot Nanny on my facebook page, b/c they would help out but not get sick themselves...

If it's what my family got (well, I was the only one lucky enough to have the gastro part of it), don't be fooled...at some point, you're going to feel better. And then it's going to smash back down on you...just as soon as your parents have started getting it, and then everyone will be miserable.

Oh it's a fun one!

Eek! Crazy world, this real estate law, eh?

Ickypoo.

Its late and I can't sleep.

I broke up with DBF a few hours ago.

I need a drink. Or a brownie.

Oh Stacie, that stinks, even if it is a good thing. It is so hard to give up something that you've spent time in! Is it because of the names he gave his kids???;)

Stacie... what if you refer to your ex as manmeL?!
hhhhhhhhhhhhmmmmmmmm.. i could roLL up on him..then hop on his back like a monkey girl and pull his hair.

You know, I am a veterinarian, I could do a little neutering while Dawn is pulling the monkey act on his head!! For the manmel, I think I would select a blunt instrument!!!!
Ready for a shocker? I've never had a martini in my life. :scared1:

Sad, but true. :upsidedow

Me neither!! I've always been a beer and tequila kind of gal. Does that make me a redneck? I am from Ohio.....

Me too!! Woke up at 3AM with a migraine. I am able to function today as my drugs diminish the head enough to get out of bed, but the nausea lingers. I get migraines often, this one was from putting in 38 hours of work in the last three days in a loud chaotic and stressful enviornment!!

I've gotten to do a little "expert" myself, explaining why a 4 lb mostly toothless maltese couldn't have inflicted life altering injuries to a UPS delivery person!!!

Fantastic!! You must feel like you are walking on air.

Michelle: I'm thinking the same thing--two teams. However, someone else would have to take ownership of registering the other team tomorrow morning at 8 a.m. sharp on line-last year it "sold out" at 8:40 a.m. We would need email addresses and actual names for each participant.

I have Dawn's and Wendy's info. I am waiting to see if Tina is in.

Stacerita, lulubelle and Zoemakes5 have also indicated interest. So, if Tina's hubby wants to play on a team, that would make 8 and would be perfect. (Hmm--maybe we would have to split them up to make it even more competitive . . . . )

I'm thinking we should sign up for the "basic" contest (rather than advanced) since many of you are newbies (everyone but me?)

So, is there one among you who would be willing to be the captain of the other team and make the ressie in the morning and prior to that get the name/email info?

Although it might get crowded, my house is available for anyone who wants to sack out that weekend. (Michelle--this starts early so you won't want to be driving up that morning).

Anyway guys--let me know!

Michelle: I would love to meet you but have a tentative meeting at 9:30 tues. that would preclude me getting over there. but if it gets re-scheduled I'd love to have a birthday lunch with you! and Lemon Drops are yummy (and dangerous!)

Cheryl, I can't find the dates of this thing. If it is a day I can go, I wanna!!!

Amy sue

Well i offered CheryL, 2 four year olds as monkey butlers to accompany her to court today.:confused3 i don't know why she said, "no, thank you!"

Wow Stacie..that's a Long day!
hhhmmmm.... is there anything he can do to get back with you? if there is.. tell him and give him that responsibility. Then if he doesn't come through, it is on him not you. If there is no way to get back together.. just keep telling him.. i wish you only the best in life and hope one day we can be friends again. say it over and over.. so that your words become his mantra.

CheryL.. may i please stay with you that weekend? i'll be a good guest, promise.
i just need to know when to book my flight for arrival and departure and dates.
i can take a cab to whereever.. your casa or work.. :confused3

i'm so excitted.. i feel really lucky that i found Disboards and took a chance to go on this trip. I've met some very wonderful women!

OK SO WHO IS GOING TO SPILL THE BEANS ABOUT THE NAMES? WE'RE NOT LETTING THAT ONE PASS

ALL ALCOHOL IS GOOD :thumbsup2 WELL, MAYBE NOT BEER

IT COULD HAVE GUMMED THEM TO DEATH

IT IS APRIL 26TH. THIS HAS TURNED OUT TO BE MORE POPULAR THAN I THOUGHT IT WOULD BE. WE'RE THINKING ABOUT TWO TEAMS, BUT RIGHT NOW, IF EVERYONE WHO HAS EXPRESSED INTEREST GOES BOTH TEAMS ARE FULL--BUT YOU ARE FIRST ON THE WAITING LIST, OK?

Amy sue

Ok--sorry to capitalize everything up above. . . . .

Dawn-I pm'd you. But Fri-Mon would probably be good. MouseAdventure is ALL day. We'll need to chill out that night and then I can drop you at the airport the next a.m.

Oh, and just in the interest of full disclosure to anyone sacking out at my place--I have cats! So if you're allergic, be forewarned. Of course, one of them you'll probably never see unless you look under my bed (and there are scary things under there, believe me!)

And now you've just encouraged people to see what scary things you're keeping under there....

I could do it April 26th!!! I don't work Sundays. Do we have anyone else interested in making a team????

Oh,and Cheryl, I'd sack out at your house just for the chance to visit your siamese. I lost my 9 year old Blue Point in NOvember after 2 weeks of really trying to save him (feeding tube the works).

Our new guy is Dobby, a 5 month old chocolate point I got for Christmas.

I have 3 other cats and dogs, so usually remember to warn future roomies so my luggage doesn't kill anyone.

You're a vet, so you're DNA is probably made of dander...your luggage is likely the least of the problems!

I was going to ask you a question about cats and kidney disease/failure, but didn't want to make people sad. But basically, would there have been *any* possibility for a cat, once diagnosed with that? Even if the cat was sent home with the owner being given instructions on things like ivs or feeding tubes or something like that?

mostly cat toys, nothing too exciting I promise!

Well, we have interest (in order) from Tina (and maybe her husband), Wendy, Dawn, Linda, Stacie (rita) and Michelle. With me that is 8. There is a max of 4 per team. So . . .. unless one drops out we would need another team (which can be as small as two people. OR we could break up the 8 into three teams. 3,3 and 2. (but I'm only paying one registration fee!--LOL)

And you'd be welcome to see my Siamese anytime. Assuming you could get him out from under the bed. He's a big scaredy cat when it comes to new people. The Himalayan on the other hand-he'll just look you straight in the eye as if to say "are you here to feed me or pet me? because there's no other reason for you to be here."

You know, you are probably right!!! I have dust bunnies under MY bed big enough to name!! And I sweep under there at least once a week!!

Well, it really depends on what you mean by a "chance" Most kidney failure is irreversible...once those guys are damaged, there is no going back. Once in a blue moon, it is a temporary thing, toxin exposure, ureteral stone, that with massive supportive care, we can get them back to normal.

Most cases are chronic renal failure. Classic old kitty's whose kidneys have been failing over a period of time. Sadly, almost all cats develop some degree of this as they age. So, depending on the cat and how slowly things progress. Generally renal kitties start with drinking more and a bit of weight loss. Still pretty happy, and eating well-ish. Since the kidneys job is to filter toxins out and keep water in, the cats need to drink more in order to maintain hydration. Eventually enough nephons (kidney working unit) drop out of function that the cats really can't maintain hydration by drinking alone.

So, that is when the fluids at home come in.

So, some cats do great with fluid supplementation, maybe add in pepcid as they always have acid tummies, (I can go on and on about other meds, but won't), for a long time, some crash no matter what. So far I have had two old cats (Din't own a cat until vet school). Both developed measurable kidney disease. One, Taj, a siamese lived quite merrily for 3 years on meds and fluid support every other day, then eventually daily), the other, Eleanor, lived happily about 3 months, then felt crummy no matter what I did. Keep in mind, untill the end, both cats seemed totally okay with all the treatments, and were feeling well enough to interact and eat and enjoy themselves. I
never want to go past quality of life.

Now keep in mind, I treat cats as a vocation, so for me to inject, SQ fluids, give pepcid, calcitriol, K, benazapine, etc. etc. etc, is like doing laundry for me, just part of the day. Most clients are unable to go to the extreme I do.

As I tell clients every day, just because we can do it, doesn't mean we should. Have to consider the feasibility of the treatment, and if it is making the cat feel better!!!

So, lots of words, did I answer your question?

Can you tell I love my kitties and really am passionate about my work?

Getting off my lectern now!!!! :yay: :yay: :yay:

I love my kitties too. my Himalyan has the beginning of renal failure that you describe (he's 13). He also has heart issues--so we take Encard once a day and Lasix twice a day. (Oh, he loves me for that--not!) And he drinks a TON of water now. And periodically we have to go in and get some fluid taken out.

Im sure you will do great. Good luck!

Glad to hear that it went well.

Thanks for everyone's support on the ex-bf issues. He sent me two messages, one last night and one this morning. Both begging me back asking if there was anything he could do to not lose me. And that he will always love me. Not what I wanted to deal with.

Its rough..but if you know in your heart that you made the right decision then I would leave it at that. After he was a butt yesterday to begging today...boys are just dumb..that's that nicest thing I can think of to say.

I would come sack at your house just to runaway from Washington...:lmao:

I'm about to go all Office Space on the fax machine at work. :furious:

Oh, don't worry. If you are allergic to him, he WILL find you! And probably dare you to have a stare-down with him!! And the other one who supposedly never comes out?? Just don't close the bedroom door if you sleep in the spare bedroom. He's probably hiding under that bed and when he can't get out, he'll climb all over your feet and scare you half to death!! That's when I remembered that Cheryl said to not shut the bedroom door! :scared1:

I CALL BED!!!!! :rotfl:

Are you sure? After what I said above? I know, you're too long for the couch!! :lmao:

I think if people are looking under my bed then they don't need to come back for a visit.

oh i love pets.. we have three little dogs and one very very did i mention she's a Very old cat?

last time we took her in to the Vet..he said... that's the oldest cat i've ever seen.

and her name is babY:lmao:

Poor baby the cat.. everymorning we check to see that she is still alive. She's not in bad health at all..she's just 22 years old.
