OMG, shut up!
I was just thinking this!!! :lmao: :lmao: I was thinking, hey, it's after Christmas, we can get decorations dirt cheap. AND best of all, do a really fun (filled) stocking exchange!!! (I loved getting a stocking as a kid and miss that each year) Or an ornament exchange. LOL

[edited]

The beach one and luau one seem to similar to me though.

Fun, fun, fun. :goodvibes

If there is room for one more on the party committee, please count me in! Most of my job is planning events, and I work with some of the most creative students in the country, so I have lots of fun party ideas...:wizard:

Christmas in Feb - can wear our funkiest Christmas/holiday sweaters/shirts. Play dirty santa. Sing carols and such.
My old aunt has me well stocked in holiday sweaters and that sounds fun. Would we be allowed to sit on Santa's lap?;)

Oh come on Dawn! You don't wanna walk clear across DTD and down Harbor to the HoJo in your jammies? :rolleyes1 :lmao:

On a side note, it's amazing to me how many people I see out running errands in their pajama bottoms and a tee. Not that it bothers me, I couldn't care less.
And I know there have been many, many threads on the WDW boards about the horrors of wearing your pjs down to the food courts at the resorts. People get so mad about it. I just read and laugh. popcorn:: :rotfl:

My Red Hat society group had a pajama party at a restaurant--it was a hoot! People would look at us like we were nuts and then nod knowingly "oh--you're having a pajama party!" I don't think Hojo's would mind jammies at all.

I say get some ideas, put it to a vote to narrow it down. The have another vote of like the top 3. Then once the theme is picked, everything else will fall into place.

Well, since Dawn sent me such a nice PM....I will volunteer to chair the meet and greet.

:rotfl2:

YAY!

[I realized last night I forgot emoticons...I was going for "funny exasperated" but might have come across as "truly annoyed". Whoops!

Interesting about the duplicates! Our guide didn't tell me WHY they had the dupe pages...but he did tell me that he was supposed to tell me to sign it all, but he forgot, whoops. No biggie, they were signed and in the mail and received very quickly, and all was well.

Cheryl you haven't yet told me what the total, after the ent rate refund, is for my March stay. Tell me, tell me!

I know, I know--I need to figure it out!

Western/Cowboy - everyone can wear bandanas or cowboy hats. Jeans and shirts. Boots if you want. (not the vegas kind Beth ;)).

Beach/Pool party - similar to the luau theme, but not as islandish. Similar to an old fashion BBQ

Christmas in Feb - can wear our funkiest Christmas/holiday sweaters/shirts. Play dirty santa. Sing carols and such.

All of those sound good to me (though I particularly like the Christmas/holiday one!)

Your son is very handsome. BYW, did your DD ever make it to Africa?? I'm so out of the loop.

Thank you! The problem is that he's pretty confident that he's "HOT"!! Someone needs to knock him down a peg or 2.

And yes, Christine is in Africa right now; she has a blog if you're interested in reading it, www.gingersabroad.blogspot.com. She went white water rafting down the Nile a few weeks ago. Good thing I talked to her before reading her blog! I was scared for her, even though it was after the fact.

No chaps!! PLEASE!!!

Just stopping by (I have missed a lot over the past few days....can't imagine how long it will take to catch up...). I did read about the party ideas. I like the Christmas one as well as the PJ party.

Not sure when I'll get another chance to be online... I hope you all have a nice holiday weekend. :goodvibes

Ya gotta hit that little quote-mark button to the right of the "QUOTE" button on the bottom right of each reply! That way you at least have an idea of who you wanted to reply to, even if you've forgotten *what* you wanted to say. :)

Got it! :thumbsup2

Happy Friday everyone! I can't believe how fast this thread is moving - I can barely keep up!

I forgot to start multi-quoting and don't want to go back so here it goes!:

Heather - LOVE the picture of your boys and mom! Adorable! :thumbsup2 And I have been there on the uncooperative picture taking experience. Why can't 4 kids look at the camera and smile at the same time?:confused3

I LOVE the Christmas in February theme! Great idea! Christmas is fun anytime of the year!;)

Beth - why don't you get a stocking anymore?:confused3 My dh also puts out a stocking for me! Usually gift cards and my favorite chocolate.:thumbsup2

Can't remember what else! Talk with you all later!

I agree we should do a vote to narrow down the themes. I think any one would be fun, but your Christmas idea sounds good. I also agee with Beth on the Hawaiin theme that it really easy to find decorations.

You and Beth could be the Vegas based planners :thumbsup2

It sounds like she's having a good time. What a great life experience :).

I love the stocking exchange idea. I am a huge fan of Christmas decorations. i did tell eveyrone I have about 13 trees that I usually put up each year. This year I did the new mardi gras one. And then when the season was over, I bought a new tree too. So I have an abundance of stuff we could use, as well as get some stuff on teh cheap.

I could just eat her up.

evening all. I am absolutely toast but just wanted to say we are home and that Michelle is right. We were having a GREAT time and Michelle had just BARELY shown up and we were sitting at the French Market eating our lunch when Shane got a phone call from the Sheriff that they had picked Lynn up. She had not broken any laws but she was dressed like a "pro" if you get my drift and had 200 cash in her pockets. Now remember when she ran away 2 weeks ago all she had was the clothes on her back and NO money. She has NO job and she had other clothes with her apparently.

I guess the people that had "taken" her in wanted to try and "adopt" her and were going to try and get a hold of us or some such thing so she had left them too and was just wandering around or something I don't know the whole story but regardless she got picked up. The cop wanted us to come right then and pick her up wich of course we could NOT do and my parents couldn't even get her because they were up in Truckee moving their unit. SOOOOO we were on the phone all day and I felt REALLY bad for Michelle because we were having to deal with this mess all day. We finally were able to convince the cops to put her in juvey for 1 night because she resisted arrest and gave a false name etc and so she did that but then Shane's cousin had to go pick her up and he took her to Shane's mom. I couldn't believe she agreed because she usually does NOTHING for our family. At first Lynn told Shane's cousin that the minute he stopped the car she was going to run and she started calling him all these names but Brian said he was so livid it was all he could do not to pop her one. But he didn't of course.

But then Shane got on the phone with her and told her she can just keep running but until she is 18 and no longer our responsibility this is just going to KEEP happening. So he told her she can just suck it up until she is 18 and deal or try to figure out a better way. So she get some MORON that she knows on the net who is going to come out from Arkansas or Kansas and marry her! It is TOTALLY ridiculous but at this point I can't worry about it anymore. She is just going to KEEP running so let her make her mistakes. ONE of these days she is going to figure it out!

Anyway we are back. We had fun but are TOTALLY exhausted. I will share some pics later!

Glad you are back Kelly and that you guys had a good time. But sorry to hear that Lynn caused trouble again.

... Shane got a phone call from the Sheriff that they had picked Lynn up...

Wow what drama & sorry you are going through this. I don't know the whole story, but she seems very confused about life right now. Believe it or not, I was not that different from her when I was her age (shocking I know ). Just try to support her as much as you can while keeping your distance and hope that she learns valuable life lessons from her mistakes.

I turned out okay :upsidedow, but I did get very lucky that nothing really bad happened to me.

I'll keep your family in my prayers.

How come my santa never looked like that?
I guess I was naughtier than you.

Stacie, you and some of the ladies might wear something like that for a slumber party.

How about a visit from the Easter Bunny? If we cannot have Santa then surely we could have the Easter Bunny.

Let me guess, Dawn bribed you right? :rolleyes1 :rotfl2: Cool! So it's you, me, Cristabel and Katie so far. That might be enough. Maybe one more. Don't want too many cooks in the kitchen. ;)

So far we only have 4 themes. lol If anyone has any other ideas feel free to post them.

I don't mind doing it again, I would enjoy it, actually. But, if there's others who want to join, I'll step down. I would think I wouldn't have trouble doing the scavenger hunt and mixer. And, I was thinking scavenger hunt to give the lovely ladies who planned it this year a chance to enjoy the game instead of having to sit it out.

Sure! So we have Stacie, Cristabel, Katie, Jane and myself as the Meet and Greet planners for this year. :thumbsup2 I think that will probably do it as too many just makes it more confusing.

And I think we decided we are going to accept lots of ideas for the party themes, and kind of see which ones people seem to like, and then we (the committee) will make the decision and do the planning in secret so it will be a surprise.
(We'll have to announce it just beforehand so everyone will know how to dress and what we'll be exchanging. But that's the plan for now.)

She went white water rafting down the Nile a few weeks ago. Good thing I talked to her before reading her blog! I was scared for her, even though it was after the fact.
Wow, that's awesome! Thanks for posting the link. I'll have to check it out when the kids go to bed and it's quieter in here.

Well, I have a stocking and Ruben will usually put something in it, but we really don't exchange Christmas gifts. With four kids, most of our money goes to them.
