Wow, you like your Olympics!

I was living in South Carolina, attending seminars in Atlanta every few months, in the years before the Olympics...I still remember their countdown board over the freeway...

I really hadn't planned to go to Atlanta--I won the trip from my old company. Long story--took my Mom.

Then was living in Salt Lake when they awarded the 2002 Games and HAD to go since it was in my hometown--then moved four years before--but had to go back. took both parents--we drove from Calif. because of my Dad's medical condition and rented a condo downtown.

well, not my "home" hometown. It was where I was living when the Olympics were awarded (in I think 1994). I lived there from 94-98.

oh, and I totally agree on the "living apart" thing. My BFF and I have agreed for years that our ideal man would have his own house a few doors down (not even next door--that's way too close!) I once told a male friend this and his eyes almost popped out of his sockets--because he was so shocked that a woman would actually feel that way . . . . most men think that we can't live without 'em

Isn't that called "The Love Shack". Only in the ideal world!

So, I did a few loads of laundry today. Then I made a big pot of my Jazz Kitchen gumbo for dinner. And later this evening we're going to my kid's school for the 1st-3rd graders spring concert. Ryan is excited about singing with his class in it.

On the other hand, Luke, our kindergartener, totally doesn't even want to go. He's been to these things every year since he can remember, watching Ryan sing, and he's sooooooo over it. He asked if he could bring his PSP to play at the concert.....and he even promised to put it down to clap between the dumb songs (his words, not mine). I told him NO WAY JOSE! Yep, it's tough being a little brother.....too bad.....get over it.

Not to mention, speaking of Luke, he dumped 2 brand new bottles of Horton Hears A Who shampoo on his head last night while he was taking a shower. When hubby and I asked him where all the shampoo went, he was like, "I don't know."

I forgot to tell you about last weekend. We took the boys to an indoor water park on Sunday. Luke was in the wave pool (wearing a life vest) and floating on an innertube. I was taking a little break from swimming and sliding, so I was watching him from our table/chairs, and although I could see him bobbing up and down on his inner tube between the other people in the wave pool, I couldn't really tell what he was doing. My hubby and my other son (Ryan) had just come down one of the double rider slides on a double person inner tube and proceeded to float their way over to Luke in the wave pool. They get up next to Luke on his inner tube (Luke didn't see them because his eyes were closed), and Justin (my hubby) and Ryan start busting up laughing their heads off. It turns out Luke was floating on his tube in the middle of the wave pool meditating......eyes closed.....legs crossed.....finger tips together......going "Ommmmm.....Ommmmm....." The whole bit, just like this!

Where does my five year old get this stuff?!!!

I wonder what the other people in the pool were thinking when they saw this little 5 year old kid meditating in the wave pool?

I am awake and except for a few burps and aches am doing OK.

I love the hot and fresh gluten free waffles the best. Anxiety attacks over food is not good and finally I relaxed when my pulse was elevated but not so bad that it warranted stopping. Mom is already planning for dinner. One tiny nose sore so I should be alright.

The roasted taters were lukewarm as was much of the food. There was not that fresh from the grill. There was salmon pastrami but after once eating lox, onions and eggs in an omelette, NEVER AGAIN with strange fish like that. There was a wide array of desserts like rice krispies, banana fosters crepes, red jello, and banana pudding. It was nice that they had pot roast and rice pilaf for us adults who do not do breakfast but I avoid pot roast for wheat in it.

Enchilada was really good but I would have nuked it until it was boiling cheese. Yummy and as good as the local ones. I love taters of almost any kind and when I do not finish taters with bell peppers then you know there is an issue with them taters. It is a sensory thing where I love cooked peppers. They just did not do it for me.

There was hot dogs, french toast, waffles, pancakes, fruit, cottage cheese, and youghurt. Overall there is a wide variety of food for everyone to have food. It is not gourmet cooking like Ariel's Grotto and standard run of the mill buffet food. If it were not free I doubt I would be back except for the waffles and bacon, yum. For $64 I could have had a better meal for two at Taste Pilots or done Ariel's.

I do recommend this for family dining though. You know you are eating from a buffet and buffets can have piping hot stuff or cold dead piece of salmon pastrami. It is fun to meet the characters though we only saw the Mad Hatter and Goofy at our table. Lots of parents are running around getting pictures with the characters instead of waiting for the characters to come to them which means the guests who remain seated have little chance for seeing characters. If I did this again I would probably get the mickey waffle and pancakes plus the bacon, no salad, cheese enchilada maybe, and the ice cream.

Also there is a 90 minute time limiit once seated so you cannot set there for 4 hours grazing and snapping photos.

Gee Kelly, I feel so bad for you. If and when Lynn gets back, I hope they can figure out something to help with the mental issues.

On a good note............It's going to be so fun, celebrating your Mom's bithday at DL!!

Love Chris Farley; everytime they have a Chris Farley show on, they show that clip. That one and the stripper one with Patrick Swayze.

I love when they show that one. I bet if we got us some "dancers" in Vegas, we would end up with the Chris Farley one, not the Patrick one.

I've long felt that the main problem with marriage is that you live in the same house with the person. I remember reading that Melissa Etheridge and either her first or second main partner (or wife, not sure if married either of them?) lived in houses next door to each other...now if it was the first partner/wife then obviously that didn't ultimately work out for them, LOL, but I still think it would be terrific to have houses right next to each other and live that way.

Melissa and her first "wife" (Cypher, can't remember her first name and she was once married to Lou Diamond Phillips) have a couple of kids together. When they "divorced" they lived next to each other so it would easier on the children for them both being there. Melissa and now with someone else (She was on the show Popular) and she was the one who helped her though her cancer.

I'm taking my mom to Disneyland for her birthday tomorrow. I already made breakfast reservations at Steakhouse 55 in the DLH. Now I don't know what to do about lunch or dinner?

I'm trying to go to inexpensive places, hoping for $20-$30 for the both of us.

Here are some options I came up with for lunch & dinner (the places are easily interchangeable for meals, seeing as how they serve the same thing except for Ralph Brennan's & Napolini which get significantly more expensive for dinner).

Whitewater Snacks, Ralph Brennan's Creole Cafe, Napolini, Red Rockett's pizza port, Riverbelle Terrace, Carnation Cafe, Cocina Cucamonga, Pacific Wharf Cafe, Taste Pilot's Grill, The Plaza Inn.

If you are partial to anyone just give a shout out!

If you're eating breakfast so late, do you need lunch and dinner? I would have a snack around 2 and then do your "meal" around 4 or 5. Have you seen the portion on the chicken fusilli at Pizza Port? (it's huge)

I love the chicken fusilli. DBF and I will share that and a salad. Fills us both up.

I agree though, if you are having breakfast that late, grab a snack if you get hungry, but don't do lunch.

Sprout, too...Nina from the Good Night show does yoga, and I think she talked about meditating once.

I thought I remembered reading that they lived apart even before. I could be wrong though, it sure has happened a lot recently!

I loved LOVED her newer partner in the sitcom Committed. I think that show only lasted a season, and I believe one of the reasons it ended was so that she could help M.E. during that time (she wasn't one of the two main stars but the show would not have been the same without her), but man oh man did my hubby love it while it was on! (went to imdb to make sure I wasn't crazy, and I can't believe that she was on in '05...feels so long ago!)

The Jazz Kitchen gumbo is VERY good. Yummy in fact! I didn't have a good gumbo recipe that I actually liked, and hubby and I LOVE the Jazz Kitchen gumbo, so I just did a search online for it and voila! There it was. I actually double the recipe for my family of four.....maybe we're hearty eaters, but I swear, the recipe given didn't make very much, sooooooo why not double it I say.

Sometimes I also add in shrimp and/or crab towards the end (10 minutes before serving it) if we want more of a seafood gumbo. But usually I only do that when making it for guests or a special occasion.

Sometimes he watches the DC......very rarely as he's more into Nickelodeon (when he's not playing his PSP), but you never know. Maybe he did see it on something from the DC.
