Good morning ladies!! I hope you all have a good day. Ruben works today so I have no plans what so ever. Well, maybe some laundry but what else is new right? :laundy: ;)

I've stayed pretty loyal to the Hojo, and I will be suprised if the ent rate thing isn't straightened out once Lorealle finds out what happened.

That being said, I have heard good things about both the Fairfield and the BWPPI. I think many of the others on Harbor have been hit or miss. Is the BWPPI the one you have to pay for parking? Can't remember. I'm not really picky about hotels...they just need to be clean, comfortable, and within walking distance. I like that the Hojo is so close to Mimi's, cause you can grab a muffin on the way to the park for cheap, but the Fairfield is close to that too. BWPPI has the cont breakfast, but my experience with those leaves much to be desired. Things are often either yucky, or they are out of everything. And its crowded. But I haven't stayed at the PPI, so it may be nicer. My experiences are based on the BW Stovall's which I would not recommend.

Of course I would LOVE to get a good rate at a Disney hotel, but think even a good rate may be out of range for some. It would be awesome to get a MM though!!

Of course, I will be attending regardless of where we stay!! I do think it is nice to have most of the attendees at the same hotel instead of all over. When walking back at night it was nice to be able to find someone heading back when you were for safety.

I'm open to whatever when it comes to the hotel. I was hardly in the hotel room so it doesn't matter to me where we stay. I think I was at the park from rope drop to near park close every night. Last year we were in Bldg 1 and I think the rooms were bigger than the rooms we had this time.

I hope you all have a nice day today. I am fighting a bad headache that just doesn't seem to want to leave me...

Take care, talk to you later.

I agree with this. I ran into several of the ladies when I was out walking. That was nice. Made me feel less alone, if that makes any sense.

Yeah, building 1 is nice. That's what I requested for October. A premium room with a Disney view. For 79 bucks, I doubt I could find cheaper for that weekend. And I doubt I'll stay in those Garden Pool view rooms again. I'd rather pay the extra 10 bucks and have a view and a bigger area with a separate sink.

Feel better Steph!

Now that we are getting close to 40 votes are we going to narrow the choices and vote again or are we still waiting for more people to vote? It seems like the end of Feb. is the overwhelming choice at the moment, but the other March and April dates are getting some love too.

Oh, and my two cents about the Oct. dates and the MToTP. Last year we went on Halloween night, and we had a GREAT time. We actually chose to go on Friday night rather than Thursday because we knew how crowded normal Friday nights are at DLR let alone it being a holiday and a day off school for Nevada that many people use as a chance to visit Disneyland. Thus, we figured that we were better off being at a limited ticket event at DCA rather than trying to fight the super huge crowds at DL. From everything that I saw and heard from that weekend, we chose right--go to the MToTP on the night that you expect to be the busiest of your trip, otherwise you are stuck out at DL with all of the masses of other people who can't get into DCA that night.

Ty particularly loved the calvacade. While it's not super long and there are no fireworks like in Florida, we thought it was really fun. For the calvacade we were right by the scarecrows/PT Fleas, which is one of the parade stop locations. We got to go out and dance with the characters for a long time and we met Daisy Duck (who we rarely see in the parks).

I'm off to work--it's our new member education program this afternoon and then when I get home it's March Madness basketball tourney selection time! Have a great Sunday everyone!!!

I know for me if there was a great AP rate at paradise pier I wouldn't mind staying there so I get Magic Morning--otherwise with an AP I don't have that opportunity. And then again, it might be that I might be staying DVC if I can get our dates. (In fact, that's what I would probably do--otherwise why have it?)

Cheryl, I agree - I was thinking probably around the same thing. I didn't mind terribly the Hojo, but it did not really meet my needs either. I would love to have MM and staying on site is the only way with an AP. If some ladies stayed on site, they could bring in other ladies for MM who had APs - I think five per person, right? The safety of walking back did not affect me as I was usually walking by myself anyway (no roomies).

Well, I hadn't planned on doing another poll unless the votes seemed especially close together. :confused3 So far the Feb/March dates seem to be pulling ahead. But there is still time so that may change.

Have a good day at work. :)

I am hoping that you're right!

I've only read this last page right now (we're about to head out the door to try to see Bolt), but I saw the reply to Cheryl's mention of the AP rate....YES. There was a 149 rate for PP, and of course you have to add the resort fee, but especially if you have the max (5) in a room, that comes down to relatively little, and everyone registered to the room gets MM, and the package service so you wouldn't have to carry souvenirs (to bring home as bribes to kids left at home) all day, etc....I would have enjoyed that.

But of course no one knows if that's available until relatively short notice before a trip...however now that it's been brought up, the idea of not everyone staying at one place, maybe it wouldn't seem as odd as if someone had just said "dude, not staying at the group hotel" in the last month before the trip.

I'm not making much sense, but hopefully y'all can unravel my meaning. Bad sleep, bad dreams (had a dream about a high school reunion, which sounds bad enough, but that wasn't the bad part, it was losing hubby and son in the mile-long school we were holding it at that was bad! and in the dream somehow it was held in Anaheim, which in the dream was NORTH of LA...odd), got up fast to try to take a walk in the snow but by the time I got up the snow was all gone, rained away...so now we're going to try to see Bolt and hope the weather doesn't change and start snowing again! Tried to see it last weekend, and it started snowing like crazy as soon as we got to the theater, and we had to go back home b/c our car is horrid in the snow and we are without AAA right now. :headache:

HOLY MOLY - It is SNOWING here right now :scared1: Can I just mention that I am so OVER winter!

Cheryl I didn't notice any problem being at a different hotel although I would have liked to have been with you guys but we didn't feel like outcasts or anything LOL.

We really like the Desert Inn and feel it is a great little hotel. I think that there are other great ones though in that area and I DEF would be willing to check it out! I think if everyone is in agreeance we can find other options.

I agree with beth though no one should have to take the responsibilty on their card etc.

We will have to start checking into it once we get our dates firm! :)

Well, maybe we try a year with people staying different places and see what happens? Or pick two choices? We will have to see about a meeting place though.

If you (or someone else) wouldn't mind taking on the task, it might be a good idea (I think Dawn suggested) to check out rates for the proposed dates BEFORE the dates are finalized--there might be enough of a fluctuation to warrant choosing one date over another.

I don't mind staying somewhere else next year. Even on site with 5 or so too a room is fine with me. We will just snug as a bug in the rooms. I would love to stay at PPH.
Theresa...no roomies?? You got the shower and everything all to your self??
Next year you need a roomie. :thumbsup2

Would Y'all keep the snow in the western part please? I am so OVER winter!!

I posted my pics to the website.

Talk to you all later.

Ok so for Halloween, I am not sure where we are staying. Either our timeshare (well except when I asked the ex if I could you the points, he thought hmmm..that sounds like fun. Maybe I will go to...oh bother...:sad2:
I dunno I guess that would be fine with me. Then he would keep the youngest while I had some fun with the DIS ladies. But that would really save me on hotel cost & more money for the future trip. )
or the HOJO's or Candycane or a good AP rate at PPH.

Dawn~ What hotel did you & your momma stay at?

Beth~ So when you let your two oldest run amok :lmao: (sp), do you give them money?? Jordan has a phone, so I am sure he would be just fine. Although I sure he would spend the majority of his time on ToT..crazy kid.

What is the beef you are making Cheryl? Is it like roast beef? I have heard of it but never had it.

I am so tired today. I really need to catch up on my sleep. Maybe during spring break? work has been crazy, finals are next wk & baseball tryouts all wk & next Saturday.

I hope everyone is have a fantastic Sunday!!

Molly thanks for the deal at shoes.com. I'm debating getting a pair of running shoes (even though I don't need them yet....;) )

Maybe we should get these for next year's big trip.

What do you all think???

I'm kidding, just thought they were cute.

steph

Those are cute. But walking all day in Converse make my feet tired.

All hail the stripper shoes!

Glad to hear your mom is coming home. :goodvibes

Love the shoes.....do they come in any other colors?

:scared1: That picture should have warning Beth! :scared1:

Is there a reason we have to do the weekend girls? Do they not do parties during the week? Wow, I might have to rethink joining you all. If this is my one and only chance to take my boys, I don't want to have to fight that. Hmmmm....I'm thinking a nice Tuesday-Thursday meet sounds grand! :thumbsup2

Those pics are bad, but not that bad. I was there last year and if you get in early, you can do everything you need, then just stear clear of obvious bottlenecks.

Sorry about your headache. Take something then nap. Will work wonders.

Hey Vegas Gals.....it looks like I will be making a stop there this weekend. My brother plays rugby and a group of his friends are going and want me to join them. So I will be having a Vegas weekend. :cool1:

Well, I just have to say that in 2008 I stayed at a different hotel and I did feel kinda left out. No one to walk with. No meeting up and chit chatting in the lobby or by the elevators. No visiting with others in their room. While in the parks and at meals it was fine, but I did notice it was different compared to this year. Just being honest.:flower3:
I like the idea of two places. I love PP and would be up for that for sure! And having an off site, too. I love CCI - only stayed once. Maybe the BW will be ok, too. At least we have lots of time to check into it. So many choices!

Can someone PM me the Shutterfly info? I seemed to have deleted it. Thanks. Off to run errands and finish laundry. :)

What is the beef you are making Cheryl? Is it like roast beef? I have heard of it but never had it.

Deb: corned beef and cabbage is a traditional thing to make for St. Pat's day. Corned beef is essentially a brisket that's been "corned" i.e., marinated with a brine and pickling spices. You then boil the ____ out of it. (I usually put it in a crock-pot--thanks for the reminder Stacielee~) It gets very tender after several hours, then you take the beef out and cook the veggies. The other two things I usually cook with it are carrots and red rose potatoes in the same juice. The grocery store sells them pretty cheap this time of year (I saw point cut corned beef for 88 cents a pound at Ralphs). There are two types--point cut and flat cut. The flat cut is more expensive, more lean and "flatter." We actually like the cheaper point cut better.

The cabbage (which I don't eat, but will make for Mom) takes only a few minutes in the broth at the end. It's really a yummy, inexpensive meal to make.

Yum! I haven't eaten in days, and you're making my mouth water. DH just cooked sausage for the boys, and it's getting to me also. I hope to be able to eat soon!

I'm not sure what I want to do with the boys on our trip. If I can find a suite somewhere cheap, I might do that. I'd love for them to have a place to nap in peace while DH and I talk and watch tv. If I can't find that, I don't know what I'll do. We still have lots of time to decide.

Jane, you make an excellent point about doing the party on a Friday night. Good way to think of it!

I'm off to pick my flavor of yogurt. :sad2:
