girls in princess costume?

Is is true that there are many little girls in Princess costumes going around at MK? Our daughter has one of these costumes but we are not sure if we should bring it along. We will if this is a "popular practice" but we would not want her to be the only one dressed that way.
Any insight on this?

Nope, your dd will not be the only 'princess' there!!! In fact, the place is swarming with mini-princesses, of every type!!! My dd, who will celebrate her 13th birthday in two weeks at WDW, is planning on wearing an Aurora costume to MNSSHP....you have to understand that she is about 5'5" tall, as is her friend who is joining her. The costume is the largest size they had when we bought it (2 yrs. ago) but it now comes to just her knees, rather than her ankles!!! She will look like a giant Aurora, close to the 'real' Aurora's size!!! So, join in the fun, let your dd wear her princess dress to her hearts content. The Princesses love to see little imitators come up to them!!!

Our first day we went to DTD and a few little girls were wearing costumes so DD wanted to put hers on. I had packed 2 and had a surprise one for her to give her as a tinkerbell gift the next morning for her breakfast with Cinderella. DD wore one costume to dinner at Ohana. I did not see any other girl dressed up but my DD got a lot of compliments and attention.

The next morning we did CRT and DD wore another costume there. Several girls were dressed up (not just in Cinderella, all kinds). Several were not, neither looked out of place.

I had a change of clothes in my bag but DD wanted to keep her princess dress on all day. We saw a few others dressed around the parks.

I would say pack it and let her decided. She will fit in either way. If you don't have it and she sees even one child dressed up chances are she'll want to also.

well were off next week and ive just packed 3 costumes! (spoiled child!) DD loves to be dressed up in the parks and they do get a little bit extra attention, i guess they feel part of the magic, get ready for lots of "oohs" and "Ahhhs" from random people, its lovely, a real confience boost for our little princesses, she will definately not be the only one!

We saw a few girls in princess dresses on our last trip. They were so cute! One had a little Snow White outfit on. While Snow White is not my favorite princess, she does have the cutest dress!

Princesses everywhere? Some spots are more prone to young princesses such as CRT, PSB, Toontown princess area. We packed my youngest daughter's favorite princess outfit (Snow White) and took it into the park. We had lunch at CRT, she changed in the royal princesses room (bathroom). She wore it then and was extremely happy. Just make sure you have regular clothes also.

We did the Bibidibobidi boutique castle package before going into the Magic Kingdom in August and let me tell you that it was like traveling with a celebrity!! At the boutique the make the girls look like living dolls. DD5 looked so darn cute so many people could not help but comment!

We are going back next week for MNSSHP and we are doing the castle package......again. DH just can not say no to her . She is worth it and after all, she is only 5 once!

I've seen lots of little girls in princess costumes on every trip, especially at MK or if they are eating a princess meal at EPCOT. Sometimes you see boys in costumes, too. I think its cute! I'm hoping my Dsis will have something cute for my niece to wear on our family trip next month.

only point i could add is - you might want to reconsider the footwear. some of the jelly type pricess slippers are not so bad, but the had plastic slides with heals would be uncomfortable at best if your princess is walking around all day. We opted for some very cute glittery slip on flat chinese style slippers that we found at famous footwear before we left. those plastic heal jobbies are fine at home for play, but even then, she turns her little ankles while wearing them. the last thing i wanted was a daughter with a broken or sprained ankle while on vacation.

DD3 went as Esmerelda in MK this weekend. Not for MNSSHP (she wants to be Violet for that). She loves to be the center of attention. When she saw Mad Hatter, he said "Oh there is our gypsy friend Esmerelda, we haven't seen her in a while. SHe must have been in the bell tower with Quasimoda." She played right along. SHe loves that movie and said yes, Quasi was her friend but she preferred to be with her boyfriend, Phoebus. I didn't even know my DD knew Phoebus' name. Who Knew? They love dreesing up so let them. It is the Magic Kingdom. It is Disney World. I say... GO FOR IT! You won't be sorry.

I agree about the right (non-healed) shoes and a spare change of clothes too!

My girls (5 and 3) wear their princesses dress to MK each year. Last year, on the ferry on the way home there was an older couple who had driven from Utah to go to WDW. He told me that seeing young kids dressed up and the looks on their faces was his favorite part of the trip. It almost made me cry!

I would highly recommend it!

DD6 wore her Cinderella dress to CRT for breakfast and left it on for a few hours then changed because it got too hot. She really loved the attention she got all morning. It was very sweet. I was surprised myself to see how many CM's make a point to say "Hi Princess" or "Good Morning Princess".

Another vote for the costume here! DD5 wore hers our first day in MK and she got so much attention - she loved it! Right as we walked in the front gate a CM came running over to her saying "Oh princess, we're so glad you're here! Can I have your autograph?" At first she wasn't too sure about him, but then another CM came over too, also gushing. So she signed his autograph book, they gave her and her brother stickers and off we went! It was priceless. It really got her day off to a special start. Everytime I see those pictures, I smile at the memory. Gotta love that Disney magic!

Forgot to add: we also had clothes for her to change into later. And she wore her princess sneakers with the dress!

Your DD will NOT be alone...believe me! Ok, ready? When I went with my six year old niece, she brought FOUR costumes!

For our Askerhaus Princess breakfast, my niece wore her Jasmine costume,
for Cinderella dinner at GF, she of course wore her Cindy costume, for Chef Mickey's she was Minnie and for our night at MVMCP she was Belle.

A bit extreme I know, but the trip to Disney was her DREAM and we just couldn't limit her to one costume and it was really worth it in the end...all the princesses were so wonderful with my niece, giving her a little extra special attention and telling her how pretty she looked, ect...she was in all her glory that's for sure! Plus we have awesome pictures of Cindy and mini-Cindy, Jasmine and mini-Jasmine, ect....

I will say though, for the days we were in the park, with the Jasmine costume and at MVMCP, my sister brought a change of clothes along for her too. It was very warm and after while their were complaints of being hot and itchy. Also comfy shoes are still a MUST, even if they don't really "go" with the costume!

My twins wore their's. You can see them in my sig pic. My mom made them because the dresses sold in stores start at a size 4 and my twins wear 12 month and 18 month. Snow White is mine and DD13's favorite princess. My mom made the dresses out of lightweight cotton so they would be cool and comfortable.

I wanted to add, DD wore a pair of white princess sandals. The kind you get for the summer.
Also, she was picked along with another girl to tour Minnie's house with Daisy Duck while wearing the dress at the opening of Toon Town.
