I bought a pretty brown peasant skirt from a catalog. It is so sheer--so I guess I'm going to have to buy a slip--haven't bought one in ages since I started buying lined skirts.

I guess my white skirt is layered (had to go check it out...couldn't remember).
I haven't worn a slip since grade school. I can't imagine trying to wear one in the Phoenix heat!! It would stick to me!
Oh, and I don't own anything see through.

I don't own a white skirt. White and me are not a good combo.

Switch out Phoenix and put in Florida. It's the same reason I do not wear pantyhose. I know...I am so scandalous. Like I said I am very careful with what I wear.

Heck, I'm buried under snow right now and I can't remember the last time I put on a pair of pantyhose. It's evil...evil I tell you.

I stopped wearing a slip when my mom stopped dressing me. But all my skirts are lined (or opaque).

btw, I remember Princess Diana's (lack of) slip incident...

Another slip wearer here. I have 2 black and 2 white, a nude and 2 full length with spag. straps. Come to think of it, the full length ones I wear under my clothes look similar to what a lot of younger girls are wearing for dresses these days....do you think they see the lingerie department as the scantily clad clothing department instead?

I always think of the line that JLo uses in Maid in Manhattan when she's helping the other lady pick out her clothing. The best friend mentions wearing a bra under the see through top and JLo says she sees that as a little to desperate LOL I've seen lots of those huge weave sweaters for summer in stores lately though, another summer of seeing bras I guess.

That is soooo true! Always wear something close to your skin color under white.

I hate wearing slips, so I never buy see through dresses/skirts. Slips always looked terrible and bulky to me under a lot of my outfits. Took out the clean lines so I stopped wearing them (and buying things to require me to wear them) about 10 years ago.

I also avoid pantyhose as much as possible. Those are two things that always added too much at the waist line IMO

I haven't worn a slip since college, but I have to admit I don't really own many dresses or skirts. Keep in mind that I also live in FL, IMO, it is more casual here - no panty hose, open toed shoes, etc.

Depending on the skirt - if it is dressy, I would try a a nude colored slip. If it is a casual skirt - I would go with the nude boy shorts.

I have a white breezy cotton skirt that I wear out in the summer- I always wear nude colored boy shorts or SPANX, they are flesh-toned suck-it-in shorts/underwear/spandex thingys. Never a thong- feels too bare for me, I would still feel exposed, I guess, although I don't pay that much attention to other people's butts, so if you wore a thong, I would never notice! But, white under white will show up like it's under a spotlight- ask Clinton and Stacy- they're doing a "What not to UNDERwear" show this week!

And I never wear slips- haven't since I was little. Not that I would never, just never had to. I'm usually a pants sorta gal.

White and light colored peasant skirts are really popular with young girls around here, and I hate that you can see the outline of some young girls butt and everything else underneath. It's incredibly tacky, but I bet the guys love it.

Thanks everyone. I never would have thought about a slip. I have never warn or owned one. Even more suprising, I never realized you don't do white under white. I am so surprised by that. I thought that I was fashion savy. I guess I will chauk this up to a 'you learn something new everyday'.

Anywayz. I bought a very pretty white skirt this summer. I wore it once with a white thong, and noticed mid-way through the night, that my 'bum' was very visable. I went to put it on last night, with regular white underwear and nylons, and the underwear was very visible.

Is there a type of underwear or other garment to wear with this white skirt?

No white - skin-colored.

Same thing under white t-shirts. That beige (kinda ugly, but whatever) color under garment is the only way to go...cant see it.

Beige thong, IMO.
