Hi , We have never been to this event before and would like to know what girls age 8-10 wear in general. Is it mostly princess costumes or are there genuine Halloween theme costumes worn ? Does the Disney store stock themed costumes prior to the event ?
help! girls do not want to be princesses but I am sure they will feel left out if the majority of other girls are princesses! :confused3

While there are a lot of princesses, there are tons of other costumes too. We first did MNSSHP in early October 2 years ago and it was HOT HOT HOT. I bought a one piece tigger costume for my DS and it was made out of light sweatshirt material. It was way to hot for him to wear it. My girls were like 8 & 10 ( or 9 & 11 lol) and they were 50's girls. Poodle skirts outfits and hair in a pony tail tied with a scarf. We are going this year too. Its going to be hot still in September, so I will try and find something light weight for them. Im just going to be sporting a nice pumpkin t shirt :) I just remember still sweating as we were leaving the park at midnight. So take into consieration the weather there.. Its not like here in PA where you usually need to fit a winter coat under your costume!!

Dont worry about not wearing princess costumes. I think those long dresses would be a pain to ride in. Make the costume simple, comfortable, and as little accessories as possible. The last thing you want to is to add crowns, wands, shoes, gloves, etc to the junk you are already carrying :)

Thanks!

DD wanted a 50s costume too but I wasnt so sure. I want them to be happy in their choice of costume and comfortable. We wont be arriving til around 6.30pm :)

We did MNSSHP two years ago and my daughter was just turning 7 and she was Cinderella. We are going again this year and she will be turning 9, she is really not into dressing as a princess anymore. She loved that movie Aquamarine, so she is going to be a mermaid.

Well you can see from my sig that my DD9 was a princess(Jasmine). The other two were Alice & Tinkerbell, not princesses. This year we're still not sure what we're doing. We're trying to decide between two choices. Like other posters said the most important thing is to keep in mind that it may be hot. Have fun
