Bleh. I have another kidney stone and it's weird... I have to take prostate medication for it, but it lowers my blood pressure so I have to try to stay put. I broke the rules and went to my school's Jefferson campus this afternoon, where representatives of the firefighters and emergency crews were honored with a framed poster of photographs from the Jesusita fires. The fire chiefs for Santa Barbara, Goleta, and Ventura were present. A firefighter who was injured in the battle against the fires accepted on behalf of Ventura. I was so touched by the ceremony and got two posters, one for me and one to send to my mom and dad. I wish you all could see it. I'll try to take a photo, but there are so many tiny images on it that if you were to see everything, the file size would be huge.
I was surprised that not very many students were there. My professor has a photo on the poster and was asked to speak. I think he was truly touched that I came to show support because he knows how horribly ill I've been. He was talking to the mayor, I think, and when I walked by he reached out and patted my arm. It's the little things...
We went to Lac La Hache, just past 100 Mile House
That's so funny - I actually grew up in 100 Mile House! Went to Peter Skene Ogden Secondary School........ My best friend lived at Lac La Hache. Five hour drive - you must be driving fastI think my best time through the canyon was about 4 hours, but that was through the night, no traffic, no stops (speeding - shhhhh!).
I want to travel to Canada someday, I've never been. I'd love to see the northern lights, but I heard that the mosquitoes are murder there in the summertime. My aunt Janie is from there.
Maybe we should have the Diva's come to Canada![]()
Glad you had a good week! What lake did you go to?
Vicki - where are you staying in Victoria?
Vicki, I'm pretty worried about this student loan thing because it's taking TOO long.
It's so sad... I honestly can't remember the last time that I was on the thread
Things have been uber crazy the last 6 weeks or so at both home and work, so there has been very little dis time. Everything is okay, but there are seriously not enough hours in the day!
Anyhow, I just wanted to pop on and say hello to everyone! I miss you all!!! It was fun to see everyone who was here last weekend and it seems like forever between now and the October trip.
Oh, I also wanted to report that I have officially booked a Premium Bldg 1 room for Feb, so all systems are ready, set, go!
I posted this on the October meet thread but wanted to make sure everyone saw it:
Hey ladies--just a reminder that if you have an Annual Pass and you haven't bought your Trick or Treat Party tix yet that they go on sale to the general public tomorrow--so dates will probably start selling out.
And if you don't have an Annual Pass--be sure and go online tomorrow and buy them before they sell out for the 23rd!
(Dawn and Boo Bear--we're all set! )
We are staying at the Empress. It looks like a really cool older hotel! I'm excited!
Oh, the Empress is a really beautiful old hotel - we love to stay there when we're in Victoria. I love it when we get a good deal on concierge there - the lounge is so cool. They have an afternoon tea that is just yummy, really good scones (Jesse used to call them "scrones"). It is a bit expensive, but really worth it at least onceYou'll be right across from the Royal BC Museum. Very cool! Are you flying into YVR then or directly to Victoria?
Morning ladies!!
I hope you all have a good day today. We have errands to run here and everyone needs a haircut so it's going to be a busy day.
Talk to y'all later.
