*Girls DL Trip* OLD THREAD

Boo Bear, I think the AP rate at the Grand last Feb was $249/Standard, $289/View. I hope they drop this year, but who knows? I think we might stay at DLH. I really like it there and the rates are usually under $200.

Yeah thats what I thought... I called and asked the girl what the rates were for this year with the AP discount for a standard room and she said $384. Obviously she didn't know what she was talking about. Oh well.

OT ~ Did any of you catch the sneak peak at New Moon on the MTV Movie Awards tonight? I just saw it! :yay: :yay: :yay:

Let me just say..........OMG, if I wasn't already Team Jacob, I would be now! He's looking fine. Looks like the movie is going to be good. Although, I still personally feel Bella's acting sucks.

Anyway, hope everyone is having a good night.
Oh, and thanks for the well wishes for Noelle's toe. We did end up taking her in and sure enough, she fractured it. But as was said already, they can't do anything for her. She just has to take it easy for 10-14 days. :sad2: Good thing Thursday is the last day of school.

Talk to y'all later. :)

Beth: one thing that might help Noelle is to get one of those "Frankenstein" shoes that have a wooden bottom--you can get them at a medical supply store. It keeps you from bending the toe (which is what hurts usually). Otherwise, make sure she stays in sturdy tennies if she can get one one--it's best not to have it moving around a lot (take it from one who has broken her toe more than once!)

Just a quick stop in to say hello! We have my niece for the next 8 days and we are having so much fun. She is Ty's only cousin and they are really enjoying spending some time together.

Tomorrow Ty is going to school and we'll show Steph around Las Vegas--the Strip, the Character Warehouse, Ethel M Factory and Catcus Gardens, etc. I think we're going to take the kids to Chuck E Cheese tomorrow night, although we'll eat dinner at home since I found the pizza to be absolutely repulsive when we took Ty a month or so ago.

Then on Tuesday morning we leave for Disneyland. Her mom bought her the 3 day military parkhopper (her stepdad is in the Army), so we had to cut the trip a little shorter than I originally planned, but $99 was such a good deal that she couldn't pass it up. So Tuesday will be Downtown Disney, the hotels and pool time at the Hojo before we hit the parks Wed-Fri. We'll travel back to Vegas on Saturday, and plan to go see Up that night.

On Sunday she then flies to Pittsburgh where my parents will pick her up (they live about 90 minutes away in Northeastern Ohio) and she will stay with them until July 8th before heading back home to Texas. So, as you can see she is on day two of a fabulous adventure for a 12 soon to be 13 year old!

Hope that everyone who was under the weather is feeling better and that everyone had a great weekend!!!

Hi girls! I just got home and I wanted to stop in and say hi! I'll try to read back tomorrow, but I hope you all had a great weekend!

Beth~ I just started watching the MTV music awards! I am watching Eminem now. I love that song!!
I can't wait to see the trailer...........

These Team Jacob peeps...........Are we even reading the same books????

Hi everyone. Sorry I haven't been around much, it's been SOOOO busy here lately. 5 separate activities yesterday alone! I've been reading to keep up, but just haven't had a chance to post. Big hugs to everyone who is having tough times and happy dances for those who have shared fun and happy things!!
I'm sitting for the bar in July, so won't be posting alot for the next couple of months, though I'll be here reading or checking PM's or email. I'm scared, the CA bar is NASTY!

Thanks for that tip Cheryl. I'll have to look into that. I sent her off with a note today excusing her for being late to any classes. I told her to just take her time walking from class to class and if any of the teacher's have a problem for them to call me.

That's great! Sounds like a fun, busy week planned.

So did you like the trailer?

Good luck!!! :wizard:

Happy Monday morning everyone!!! :) Just stopping in to say hello while I finish getting the kids ready for school. Catch ya later.

Good Monday Morning Ladies!!
Hope everyone had a good weekend!! We spent it in the backyard watching the 4 little ones play in the wading pools. Lots of fun & super hot!! We even got a pretty good thunderstorm around dinnertime last night!!

Have a great day today!!!!

Morning everyone!

Last week of school! Yippee! Shelby told me on Friday that she had a spelling bee and made it into the top 5!! So today she is going to be in ANOTHER bee with the top 5 kids. I so wish I could go watch her! I am so proud of her! :)

Yesterday we FINALLY went to church after missing for almost a month. It was nice to see everyone and we got all the details for next week. I am still not certain whether we are going to do the baptism at the church or at the river but we will work all that out. We may do one at church and then the river later on but we shall see. Shane and the girls REALLY want to do the river but the pastor may not be able to do it that day and I really want my parents to witness it so we may have to do it at the church next Sunday and then do it later at the river. But anyway then last night Shane and the girls went and had their class to go over everything. Then they came home and we just had chineese food and watched Wall-E and then after they went to bed Shane and I watched Along came Polly.

So it was a nice relaxing day. We also went and got the girls haircuts yesterday for their pics on Wed. They look MUCH better. :)

Anyway today I have to work and then nothing tomorrow and then Wed as I said we have the pics and the girls church deal. That should be exciting. Each girl is reciting some verses and getting some awards. I just hope it all works out. I just don't know why everything ALWAYS ends up being on the same day! UGH! I was going to have them maybe skip the group pic but then someone told me they may do that one first. SHEESH! I am REALLY going to be jamming to get that done and get to the church on time for the presentation. The pics are at 5 and the church thing is at 6! EEK!

Then Thurs I am working since Fri is last day of school and I am volunteering for Shelby's class.

So busy busy but hopefully a fun week!

Then next week NO School. I am actually looking forward to it cuz I can sleep in! ;)

Although mom and dad leave for Mexico that week so I am NOT looking forward to taking care of the office for almost 2 weeks by myself. THAT is stressful! BLEH.

Shane told me though today he thought it might be fun to take a 4 day weekend and go to Disneyland so I told him why not in Oct! ;) So we might be able to do the Mini meet!! That is WAY up in the air but anyway who knows. We shall see. It all depends on finances and how things go with his job etc. But we shall see.

Anyway that's it for me. Gotta run the girls to school.

See ya.

Oh I'm so glad that Sarah and Vicki had a happy meet! Safe travel home for each of you!

Linda, Hugs just cuZ!

Michelle... Good Luck on Your bar exam! Remember you have already taken it in another state. Find comfort in that knowledge.

hhhmmmmm.. well my sister in law has woken up from the coma.. she tried to say something but her speech is very damaged from the stroke. But that was a good sign she was trying to communicate. It's really just a wait and see thing. Thank You for the prayers.

CheryL... i hope you are hanging in there with Francine out. And that she is healing. Have they decided what form of treatment for her cancer?

Kelly... I remember the days of life being so busy when our children were little. I'm glad it's a good busy and that the girls are doing so well!

Tina... Hi..Bye..stealoring a hug

Bridgette... i'm interested in Disney putting those rates out too... i don't know how old your parents are but check into the senior discount it's a great savings, even more than the ap discount.

Courtney.. i'm sorry that i don't know the age for the senior discount.

Dawn I didn't hear about your sis in law. I must have missed that somehow but prayers to her!!

Hi Kelly! I hope your parents have a great trip, where are they going to? I know your mom loves to travel, she spoke so happily about it on the girls trip.

My younger sister in law just had a severe stroke and they found out she has a very bad disease that the mutated chromosone lays dormant in the body til it hits a certain age then it kicks in in the form of causing stroke after stroke. There is no cure for it. It is very sad. I had never even heard of it. I have read that there is a good chance of her gaining some motor skills or speech back after the first stroke. Although i don't know how that can be as the doctors told us she has plaque on the brain and part of her brain is dead? It's just too much information to process. I'm praying for Gods Will to be done, God knows better than we do in cases like this.

Oh no Dawn I am so sorry! That is really scary! I will be praying for her! That is awful! I hope that she finds healing and as you said that God's will is done!

As far as mom is concerned they have a place in Puerto Vallarta that they own with 5 other couples and they get 2 months out of the year. So for example each couple gets 2 months totalling the 12 months if that makes sense and it rotates around. So you would get like January and June and the next year February and July. Mom and Dad never go for the entire month but rather just for a little over a week. And sometimes they don't use both of their months. They used to rent out their month but the other owners got to be real buttheads about "who" they could rent it to and now only let them rent to "family" or close friends. It is really stupid and I think eventually they are going to try and find another place. But anyway it is nice and right on the beach. It is a nice getaway for them and esp for my dad who has had SO many health problems lately. In fact I am amazed he is even going with that eye problem he has had and also he has had a problem with his stomach. He hasn't been able to eat in WEEKS! He has had to do a bunch of Endoscopies and MRI's and they can't seem to figure out what is wrong. I keep insisting it is a med problem but no one listens. But he has lost a LOT of weight. Plus this thing with his retinas is really bad cuz he could literally go blind at any time. So it is kind of scary. But anyway I guess they do need a break. It is really nice down there though. I have only been once but it is really pretty. Maybe on the next girls trip I will bring my photo album. :)

Kelly.. Bob and I love Cancun.. mexican beaches are so beautiful. We usually go every year but this year we're not going as my brother was laid off and i've been helping the family monthly. My Dad lost his vision in one eye, He still does alot, I just always take his arm when it starts to get dark.
It doesn't sound good with his tummy troubles.. i will keep your father in my prayers.
I love the beach, when Bob or I have a bad day..we always call each other and say... Hey wanna run away and live on the beach? You can sell shots of liquer and i can sell seashell necklaces!:goodvibes

LOL, Dawn. DH & I always say the same thing except he will run a fishing panga boat and I will just keep our small casita clean and cook our meals. :goodvibes Life can be very simple on a beach in Mexico, yes?

Hugs and pixie dust to all that need it today!
Have a great day.:)

Yeah if dad only had it in one eye it probably wouldn't be a big deal but it is both eyes so that is the problem. I guess when we age the liquid in our eyes starts to harden and it pulls the retinas away from the back of the eye or something. That is kind of how he explained it. The opthalmolgist said the problem is that there is nothing he can really do and if it happens it happens. My dad is just really freaked over it as I guess anyone would be at the prospect of possibly going blind. And like you said if it is one eye I think you could manage but both would be bad. So I guess we just have to wait and see what happens. But it scares him when he gets these episodes where he has bleeding in the back of his eye and he gets these like floaters or whatever but he has gone in and again they say there is really nothing he can do. He has had laser treatments but they said they really can't fix it. And as far as his stomach, he has had problems for years. He has issues with his esophagus and reflux and he has to go in for endoscopies all the time but this thing with being nauseated constantly is new. Again I think it is his meds and my mom finally told him to stop taking ALL his meds and gradually start them up again one by one which you would THINK his docs would do but I think that worked for awhile. I haven't really asked her how that was going. They have been gone and I have been so busy but hopefully that worked. I know I was surprised he still wanted to go out of town cuz it is kind of scary to go to another country, esp one like Mexico with health issues like THOSE. So who knows. But maybe it will do him good to get some rest.

I agree though about when things get tough the thought of just chucking it all and going and living on the beach sounds like a pretty good idea LOL.

When Shane came back from Iraq my parents let us use the place for our vacation and it was SO nice and relaxing. We just opened up all the windows and listened to the waves and had that nice breeze and they don't have a tv there or anything. We took lots of nice walks and just enjoyed the peace of it all! It was SO relaxing!

Linda... we can be neighbors! I have a feeling if i'm the shot girL, you and i will end up drinking any profits! :rotfl:

Kelly... detachted retena.. that's what my father has. It is so peaceful to just sit and listen to the waves. Plus it's a more natural lifestyle. Without all the artifice that is surrounding.
