Girl Scouts on MySpace?

I was poking around the national website and see that Girl Scouts has a MySpace blog including the new cookie website to help you locate where you can buy cookies.

I am just shocked about the MySpace part....I didn't think they would permit it because of internet safety and all that.

Your thoughts?

I don't have a problem with it. My Space is the new way to communicate. It is possible to keep it safe and clean. I have two teens, both who "talk" on it like we used to talk on the phone. The good thing is that I can monitor this and they know it!

how is it any different than them having a website? or a yahoogroup like DD's troop does? Myspace gets a bad rap, but it is really no different than anyother online community such as the DIS

My space got a bad rap but it is not dangerous if you use common sense. I have a space but it is privet and I only alow my friends to see it (as in people I know off the internet) The girl scouts shouldn't have any problems as it is an orginazation.

I dont have a problem with my space. The problem is parents who dont monitor their teens activities on it, that is when folks run into trouble. If the girl scouts can reach more people and sell more cookies then more power to them!

MySpace just gets bad publicity- it's no better or worse than the rest of the internet.
