I have been thinking about fundraisers for my Brownie troop and hit on one that my assistant was keen on as well. She suggested a cakewalk, but I am not sure I want to head that direction.
Tell me if you think it would fly...........or if you have any additional ideas.
We have nine girls, two of whom are low income so we cover all their needs from troop funds, which is one reason why I thought an additional fundraiser would be a good idea.

Cookie and ornament exchange.

All attendees would need to bring three dozen cookies and a certain number of homemade ornaments (say 6).
Cost to attend is $5. Our troop provides a craft and hot cocoa.
You bring three dozen, you get to pick out three dozen to take home with you as well as six different ornaments.
To my mind it sounds like a bargain, you are getting a variety of Christmas cookies and for busy families this can really be a blessing. (I used to do a variety of cookies every year for a co-worker who was just too busy to bake. She got great cookies and I got great satisfaction knowing I was helping her.)

I thought each attendee would get a nametag at the door or a punchcard and we would mark on it how many cookies they had received.

I can see if our school can provide the space, or possibly a smaller community center or church.

The troop wants to do a couple of trips in spring, as well as summer camping, and we just don't have the $$.

Make sure and check your council guidelines to see if Brownies can do external fundraising. In our council they can't do it until they are Juniors and I assumed that was a national thing, it might not be. I'm assuming you'd have to get approval from your council anyway.

Some that I have heard others doing is bake sales, garage sales, car washes, those desserts in a jar (like brownie mix, cake mix, cookie mix, and I've seen hot chocolate mix too). A thing that is big around here is Pork Chop dinners or Spaghetti dinners. The pork chop dinners food is prepared by a local company and they prepare everything - the people who are raising the funds just sell the tickets and serve the food. It's a great and pretty easy fundraiser.

If you have a Knights of Columbus around you and they do a pancake breakfast perhaps they'd be willing to let your troop do the hard work and give them the tip money and some funds toward their work.

Our Brownies can't do fundraising either. Please check Safety Wise or your council.

Browniies (or any troop 'cept Daisies) can raise additional funds in our council *if* they've participated in both Nut Sales and Cookie sale that year (just Cookie Sales if it is the troop's first year)

Do you have a troop sponsor? In our area, civic associations (Lions, Elks, etc.) will sponsor troops.

Also, businesses will sponsor troops or individual girls, especially if they know what they're sponsoring (not the particular girl, but the ways and means for a girl to go to camp)

But talk with your Service Unit Manager (or whatever your larger neighborhood is called), Field Exec, or Council. Each Council is different as to what's allowed (some won't let you solict individual businesses - you wouldn't believe how often they're hit up)
