Can any Girl Scout troops that have cruised tell me how you pulled your trip together? My dd's Cadette troop is looking for a trip the summer of '06 and one of the ideas is a short cruise.

Corryn has just come back from the Wonder I believe with the Girl Scouts...Just bumping up, I am sure she will be here soon..... :Pinkbounc

My dd's Senior troop is doing just that this summer. It is not resticted by National, but it does take time to get it approved through your coach and council. It should be girl planned of course, and it requires an extended travel app and all the paperwork that goes with that. We are doing a 3 nite Baja cruise. I am not her leader anymore but I will be going along. It took two years, and a LOT of fundraisers to save the money up. We needed to book one adult per cabin so we will have plenty of chaparones. Good luck and have fun dreaming and planning.

i didn't cruise with the girl scouts, but we went to the girl scout center in cuernevaca, mexico and spent another week in mexico city back in '98. my mom (princessjasmine53) just took her cadette troop to the same place this past year. i'm sure if you have any questions she'd be more than happy to answer them. let me know if you want to talk to her (she hardly follows these boards, but i'll tell her about this)! :flower:

Gosh, I just found this! I hope it's not too late......

I can tell you that this was not a council-approved trip because it was not only GS. We went with the dads, grampas, grammas, sisters & brothers.
When planning a trip, you have to get all sorts of approvals from your service unit, council and on up like Got2GP has stated. But because most of our girls (sans 2) went on the trip, we just called it a Girl Scout trip. It was an awesome adventure. This was a trip of a lifetime for these girls, especially since they were able to experience it all together! We were still talking about it, still going through photos......In fact, we are all waiting for the September schedule to come out because all the families would like to do it again, only this time a 7 night cruise.

If you would like to take your troop without families, I would take one mom for each two girls. You can go through your handbook and see what sorts of badges you can earn while on the different islands, maybe even set up a meeting with a Girl Scout troop from the islands!
Have Fun!

This one is Most of the families. Some didn't make it on time!

Holy cow! :earseek: Waaay back when I was in girl scout's, our biggest event of the year was all spending the night in tents in one of the kid's backyard (I just remember sweating...alot) and then going to the local amusement park the next day. Oh yeah, and there was that time we got to ride a big old fashioned steam train for an hour...big deal 'cause we got ICE CREAM. :rotfl: Times, how they have a'changed. :teeth:

Oooh, camping in the backyard & a steam train! I am telling you, if it could be that easy!!! I guess every generation tops the next....What will come? Trips to the moon, or maybe just into the upper levels of the atmosphere so they can earn their Weightlessness Badge and perform simple science experiments!

DCL has a special department for groups that will be happy to work with you. It is required that there be one adult booked into each cabin, so you will need one adult for every 3 girls. Of course, this becomes a different deal if you do it as a family cruise for the scouts. That way, it isn't an official Girl Scout activity and doesn't have to go thru all the official approvals. It is a group of family/friends choosing to cruise together.

That would be SO cool! I just resigned my troop this year as my girls move to middle school. I can't imagine pulling something like this off with them, but it sure would have been great!

Hope it works out! Would LOVE a report if they make it. Good Luck!!!
