My 11 yr old DD is a Girl Scout. She sold cookies at school. I told her she could only ask adults no kids.

Well one parent was picking up her DD and her DD wanted to buy cookies off my DD . My DD let the Mom sign the paper and sold her 3 boxes of cookies.

3 weeks after delivering the cookies I am still waiting for the money. My DD has asked this class mate to ask her Mom several times for the money. I sent a note with the cookies asking for a check or cash.

I called Sunday and the Mom said "Oh of course I will send in a check tomorrow with DD.

Well we are still waiting for a check. Daily my DD is being told tomorrow, tomorrow.

Now its no big deal as far as the money I can pay for to cookies I am just really mad that this Mom wont send in a check even after I called and asked very nicely.

Any suggestions

How about a "past due" note. Maybe you could also mention where the money goes in terms of funding the girl scouts.

We had a similar problem this year. DD8 sold GS cookies at DH's work and one man ordered 25 boxes. It took him a month to pay! I even delivered the cookies on payday! There is no easy solution, keep sending reminders.

Next year, we decided no money...no cookies!! We could have sold those 25 boxes within a day or two instead of waiting for his $$.

What kind of cookies are they? I can't find a dang girlscout anywhere and I am due for my yearly somoa fix. :sad2:

Great suggestions. I will send in a pass due note tomorrow with DD.

We didnt sell Somoas this year. I wonder why because I also love those !!!

I haven't found a single girl scout this year! I need and I mean NEED my lemon cooler fix. :teeth:

Wow! All this cookie talk. We were done with our sales at the end of January.

I hear ya! I teach figure skating and am usually bombarded with students asking me to buy...this year, no one! I might go into withdrawl if I don't get any Thin Mints this year! May have to check Ebay!

Sorry to go off topic...actually I have never sold Girl Scout cookies myself, but I would think if you got through it with only ONE person stiffing you, that's pretty good! There are just always going to be people that are that way. I feel for you though, I hate having to chase people down for money. Maybe you could call her so you are sure the message is actually getting to the mom?

Oh, I see that you already did call...I ready your OP too fast!

It's been a long day!

yeah i had to go looking this year to buy them
finally i found someone who had them

to bad about that, thats why i hate when we have to sell stuff for the school

Is it possible that the other mom sent the check - but it landed in the backpack and the classmate forgot to give it to your daughter?

Or - is it possible for you to just drive over to that house and pick it up?

OP -

How about this?
*Don't* send the note in with your DD to give to the friend - there are too many opportunities for the note to get lost, etc. Here are a couple of "instead"s...
Mail it to this person's house, maybe even with a pre-addressed envelope.
Go to the house.
If you want to be really sneaky, you could always invite the girl over and when mom comes to pick her up or you drop her off, you can casually say "Oh, by the way...you owe the Girl Scouts X dollars"

I had something similar happen with one person & finally gave up. Luckily I still had the cookies, so I paid for them & kept them myself. Your DD has learned a hard lesson. *NEVER* release cookies to a customer without getting the required money.

agnes!
PS - Now you also know something possibly not-so-nice about this woman, that at the very least she's careless with her obligations and conceivably all the way to she takes advantage of little children.

I agree about no money no cookies.

I wanted to buy cookies, but no scouts ever came by, and I didn't see them at the stores. I would have bought a number of boxes, too, but if I don't have them I won't eat them, so maybe it isn't a bad thing after all.

I'd looked at it that way too but even after a month I still want my lemon chillers. :rotfl2: In the past I have run into the GS's at several stores as well as in my office, at the house, etc.... This year nada!!! *sigh* I will have to live until next year and keep the GS website up so I can monitor when they go on sale to call and beg them to send someone my way.

I pick up the phone and say I am stopping in to get the check.:rotfl: Then I make note to self to never trust this person again.

I was the "Cookie Mom" this year for dd's troop.

I am waiting on payment from one person too.....a girl I work with. I did deliver on a Wednesday and she didn't have the money that day and said she would leave it for me on that Friday (we don't work the same shift but I went in during the day to deliver hers). That was last week and nothing yet. I left her a note on her time card asking for the money , so hopefully she will get the message

GS leader and cookie mom here. First rule, no money, no cookies. But since you're past that and you still have problems collecting the money, you can contact your counsel office and they will collect for you. I do like the idea of calling and say you're on your way over.

GS cookies on ebay? Big no no.

For all of you who haven't gotten your fix this year, you should see my dining room!! Packed full. Our cookie shop goes till the end of April, you should contact your local GS office and find one closest to you, they will be glad to sell cookies!

696 boxes moved through my house this year as "cookie mom" and so far I've collected all money except for two "checks in the mail" totaling $21.00.

I'm glad it's almost over. :)

Our rule here is also, no money, no cookies. There is one girl my DH works with who took her cookies and said she would get the cash at the ATM before the end of her shift. She got extended to work an extra 2 hours and it was time for DH to leave. Since then (almost 3 weeks ago), he has sent her numerous emails with no response. I found her number on the order form today and called it and left a nice but firm message about the money. It's only $9 but it ticks me off.
