Girl Scout cookie booth advice

OP - A few questions - 1) Was your sale this past Saturday? 2) Which bakery do you use (ABC or Little Brownie)? and 3) Which mall? I really want to find those Thanks a Lot. :rotfl: :rotfl: I live in Central Jersey but we're at a cut off line for councils. I will travel for cookies. :goodvibes

Our sale is March 7th at Monmouth mall. We used Little Brownie. Our council covers the Jersey shore area so that whole area used Little Brownie. My husband works in Woodbridge and someone he works with had different cookie options so they may have used ABC? I looked up the cookie you mentioned and they look yummy. I wish we had those! I love anything chocolate but we didn't have anything really other than the thin mints which I'm not a huge fan of. Maybe next year we can get the yummy chocolate ones : )

This thread reminded me that I left my box of Thin Mints in my mother's refrigerator -- which is 1,500 miles from where I am right now!

Oh crud!! :headache:
But on a positive note, I went on the ABC site and found a cookie booth not to far from me this weekend. Seriously, its 6 miles from my house and they have a different council and a different cookie. How bizarre?? :confused3 Anyway, I'm not going to tell DD. I think I'll just go buy the cookies and surprise her.

I think I have a serious problem. I'm addicted to GS cookies. :lmao:

All-Abouts from Little Brownie and Thanks-a-lot from ABC bakers are basically the same cookie. The name and shape differ, but both are shortbread with a layer of chocolate on the bottom.

Little Brownies does not sell All-Abouts anymore. :sad2:

What we do in our service unit is if we have leftover cookies we can't sell we can usually find another troop to take them. Our SU manager allows us to do this.
I have only 100 boxes for our booth sale. Since I am the only leader with a few adults who help, I just don't want to be stuck having additional sales. I just want the girls to have the experience. We do fine making a big profit with regular orders.

We had Little Brownie but no All abouts in our choices! I guess different places get different choices? We had the new cookie Thank you Berry much and Dulce Leche then the standards, samoas, dosidos, thin mints, etc.

The baker can change the cookies (except for the standard ones). So that's why there are differences between the bakeries. All Abouts used to be sold by Little Brownie but they stopped. They also used to sell a sugar-free chocolate chip, but no more. :sad2: Waahhh!

Venting: ) So I'm the one that started this thread asking about booth sale advice and thanks again to everyone that responded. It looks like it will be just my daughter and I doing it! Not one parent has volunteered to help or to have their kid come. No one has responded at all! I was like you have to be kidding me! These parents don't want to help with anything. The troop leader will ask for coats, old blankets etc for different things the troop is doing and no one brings anything.

Thanks for listening!

   I so feel your pain. I have a troop exactly like this.

Oh that stinks! :headache: Make sure you check with your council to see if they'll even allow you to booth. I know our council requires a minimum number of girls to be at a booth.

I hear ya on getting parents to participate. This year I simply filled out the boothing charts and told parents where and when to be at a particular place. :teeth:

Sometimes I feel like a flippin' babysitter. Ugh.:sad2:

oops - sorry for the bad info about the All-Abouts. Our council used to be with Little Brownie, this is our 2nd year with ABC. Rumor has it we are switching back to Little Brownie next year - I hope so. Even though the recipes are supposed to be the same, I think the ABC cookies aren't as good. Plus - this year's form was an absolute nightmare to deal with. could they make it any bulkier and hard to use?

Our booth sale sign up was last night, and it was a dismal turn-out. I don't get why people aren't signing up. The kids have a blast doing the booths, and sell a TON of cookies. Our first sale is outside of Wal-Mart on Saturday (Valentine's Day shopping, anyone?). There was only one girl who signed up other than the leader's daughter and the co-leaders' daughters (mine). We actually had to sign up for 2 slots because the time period would be empty otherwise. Whatever!

Wow, that really stinks. :guilty:

My troop did a booth sale at the Monmouth Mall last year. I got an email that said this year's sales will be in the same location as last year. They actually gave us a storefront which was fully decorated for the girl scouts. There are cookie boxes and girl scout items displayed in the front cases. It looked really nice! You won't need to bring tables or chairs or even signs. Just bring your cookies. You'll go behind the counter and just have to turn the lights on! It's a really nice set-up.

I think you should set up a schedule for the girls in the troop to work the sale. Just assign them a time and tell them they have to arrange to trade times with another girl if they can't make it. Even if some girls don't show up, I bet you'll get some who will.

Good luck with your sale!

Consumer here - We usually stock up on quite a few boxes from the girls from our church, so when I see the booths, I'm not inclined to buy more. However...if they have an option to purchase a box for donation to the local family shelter or fire house, or something like that, then I will purchase.
