Mods---feel free to move this to the correct board...I couldn't find a good fit for this question.LOL.

Has any girl scouts eanerd for badges for visiting certain attractions at WDW?
I was just curious. I know you can visit certain cities and earn badges.

It would be appropriate there be a badge for pin trading. ;)
Too bad there isn't one for visiting all the countries.

I was hoping there was. Her leader said that some badges could be earned by visiting some cities and their attractions.

I found this great web site that includes a database listing all of the Girl, Boy & Cub Scout requirements that may be earned at Disney World, or preparing for the trip.

It depends on what level of scouting you are talking about. Merit badges for boyscouts are very precise. At the cadette and senior cadette level of girl scouting the requirements are changing so often latley and arealso so very precise. At these levels they either working toward 1st, 2nd, star, life or Eagle for the guys or the girls are working on their bronze, silver or Gold awards. It is up to the individual leaders or councils to give out patches. They could get service hours if they helpled out with someones wish trip.

Old website with no info. When was the last time you used it?

1) I have no idea about girl scouting.
2) But, a friend of ours got a Boy Scout Badge using WDW locations.
3) It was the badge for Geocaching.

I am planning a Girl Scout trip next year. For Junior's they are going through program changes and our council has instructed us that we can continue to work toward badges that are changing, just to order them in advance since they are no longer making them. I have found tons of stuff for us to work on over the next many months while we plan for our trip, and then once we get there. Here are some samples (I don't remember all of the badge names, so some are listed by subject):

Math Skills - we are going to work on budgeting / saving for the trip; they will be caluclating how much gas we need, the cost, how many car washes to have and cookies to sell, etc.

Map reading - the girls will plan our route to Florida

Home skills - we will be staying DVC. The girls will be cooking a meal while we are there (doing multiple groups and they each have to plan a meal); also doing laundry and "mousekeeping" while we are there

Cultural differences - while visiting the countries in Epcot we are going to learn about the different cultures, try different foods

US - visiting Liberty Square and the 13 colonies tree, Hall of Presidents

Friendship - there will be a focus on continuing to build life long friendships (I am still friends with girls in my troop from when I was a scout)

I am really trying to make good use of our troop and teach the girls some skills they will need in life. Many of them have never ordered off a menu unassisted, either. This will be quite an experience for them.

MY MIL is our Daisy troop leader, and even though we were there with her and another girl from our troop, we were told we could not earn badges unless it was a troop sponsored trip or a Girl Scouts trip we were attending that they had scheduled. I was sad. She has been a Girl Scouts leader for over 25 years, so I took it to be the truth. I know this is not what you wanted to hear because it was not what I wanted to hear either...:sad2:

You should be able to look in your daughters book and see which patches she can earn. I was a leader many many years ago and my girls would earn patches. They pretty much leave it up to the leader, about how the girls would earn patches.

As a troop we would earn at least one patch once a month, but on their own the girls could earn patches and bring the stuff into show how or what they did, to earn patches. As long as a parents signed off in their book and the girl would tell me how they did it.

I would think disney would be a great place to earn patches so much stuff there.
