Giraffe??

This may be a silly question - but I will ask anyway. We have a savanna view room booked at Kidani for Aug. Are there different animals in different sections? My boys love giraffes and I was curious if we would definately see them from the room or not.

Yes, not all of the animal types are on all Savannas. When I was at Jambo House last year, there were giraffes on the sunset savanna.

I really don't know whether there are some animals only on one savanna but giraffes show up in all of them.

That's only the rooms facing the new savannah by the pool.

That's for the savanna that is not yet open. The Sunset savanna is the one currently visible from the open Kidani rooms, and that savanna is where the male giraffes are. I wish I could remember their names, but the only one I remember is Jason, and he is the alpha. The sunset savanna also has Ankoli cattle, ostrich, zebra and I believe a couple kinds of antelope too. Not sure if the river hogs are back or not.

I believe Arusha is only available if you are staying in Jambo.

Kidani will have two savannas, the existing Sunset savanna and the new, not yet open, Pembe savanna. It's the relatively smaller Pembe savanna that will have Okapi instead of Giraffe.

To add to what wildernessDad said, the new Pembe Savanna is supposed to open in September. If it happens to be ready early (in time for your August trip) there is a chance you could get a room that faces that savanna. I suggest you add a request to your reservation for a view of the Sunset Savanna.
