gingerbread cookies

We recently had some from Aunt Cass Cafe in DCA. Very fresh and toothsome.
I don't know that place. Is that the former Harbor cafe with the bread bowls? Do you know how they compare to the other gingerbread cookies?

It is a bread place. The sandwiches are all served on their fresh bread. We thought maybe the gingerbread cookies might be baked there as well since they seemed so fresh.

It’s hard to compare with others. We’re big fans — have Gingerbread Mickey every holiday trip, usually one from Main Street and one in GCH at the end of the day. It was a fluke finding them at Aunt Cass Cafe. We went in to pick up sandwiches and saw the cookies so bought a couple. They were our favorites this go-around.

I haven’t noticed anyone talking about the Mickey head that’s soft gingerbread. It’s very similar (if not identical) to the full body Mickey. It’s easier to get via mobile order at multiple locations.

Thanks. I'm curious about the yellow star. Do they just have them left over from the full body Mickey that they don't seem to be making anymore? Does it have chocolate on the back?

Wait, is that a new Mickey/Minnie gingerbread head??? Please tell me they haven't done away with the previous gingerbread head!! There is no icing on this one and you just get sprinkles?? Sprinkles don't even belong on gingerbread IMO.

It definitely has a very thin layer of icing that is nearly translucent, similar to the full body Mickey (last year at least—I never got my hands on a full body Mickey this year).

It’s very soft, spicy gingerbread similar to full body Mickey. In past years I did side-by-side taste tests and I thought the full body and this one were identical. This year, I wonder if the Mickey head with sprinkles is a slightly different recipe … it seems to puff up a little more than the full body and be a tad less greasy in consistency. But it’s very very similar so if you’re going for taste, these are just as good. But they aren’t packaged as nicely as the full body Mickey was in year past (are the full body mickeys still packaged with gold cardboard in plastic with ribbon twist tie) so they don’t hold up as well or make as nice a gift (in my opinion).

So, are the full body Mickeys still available? I thoughtJollyHoliday had them....not a fan of just the head ones...the one I got at Starbucks last year was dry.

Hmmmm Starbucks sold the full body mickeys last year. They had the red-dipped Mickey heads at Candy Palace and similar places. But that one is really different, hard and dry. Not like the Mickey head I show above—that one is soft and spicy like the full body Mickey and not at all dry.

Maybe you got a bad one last year? I've always loved the Mickey heads because they were so soft. I bought 6 last December to bring home :D

The full body I got a few years ago at Starbucks was dry, though, and to me, just not very good. But that assessment is based on just one cookie.

It's not new. I know for sure back in 2021 they had it. But they had it at one of the Festival of the Holidays booths. They no longer sell it at the festival booths and have started selling it at some of the snack kiosks in DCA (like where you can get a soda and corn on the cob or whatever). And you can also get it from Red Rose Taverne and Aunt Cass Cafe at the counter and on mobile order. That's been the case since at least 2023 because I got it at Aunt Cass last year.

So there are basically 4 types of Gingerbread cookies now, everyone --

The famous and more popular Mickey man-shaped Gingerbread that you get at GCH, Jolly Holiday and Starbucks

The Mickey Head with the sprinkles - some kiosks, Aunt Cass Cafe, Red Rose Taverne

The giant Mickey Head dipped in red - Trolley Treats, Candy Palace, Bing Bong's, Pooh Corner

Gingerbread cookies shaped like cookies - Harbor Galley

I avoid ALL SPRINKLES after inhaling one lastChristmas at DL...I ended up with aspiration pneumonia. It wasnt a DL cookie, Mickey gingerbread my friend had made but she had them literally covered with sprinkles. So I'm with you DizMe...sprinkles do not belong on gingerbread!

The best one I ever had at DL were full body ones, but they were skinny and tall, a totallydifferent cookie than now. It was our treat at the Holiday Tour years ago, we picked them up at the place that now sells the baked potatos. We got our hot chocolate (full size in a souvenir mug)and a gigantic cookie and then enjoyed the parade from our wonderful bleacher seat across from IASW. Aaaaaahhhhh, sweet memories.
A SEAT!!!!!!

Just returned and I gotta say those Harbor Galley GB cookies were AMAZING! I am a huge gingerbread fan and these are 100% worth trying! We got them twice! Also, the GB Mickey is still as delicious as ever! We tried the GB waffles at Schmoozies and they were ok. Not a must have for a GB fan.

How long do the cookies stay fresh for? We bought 2 one for me one for mom but they both ended up coming home with me. Wondering if it will still be good on Christmas. 12 days after we bought them.

They should be good! Put them in an air-tight container. I have some right now that are 14 days old and still yummy!

I've heard of people freezing them and eating them throughout the year.

I was a little disappointed with the Mickey heads this year. They seemed drier than in the past but I still managed to eat it :D

Someone who had just purchased the Harbor Galley cookies was raving about them and I said, "Oh! I've heard of those on my Disney board!" and she insisted I have one fresh from the box she'd gotten. WOW! They really are delicious!!!

The whole body gingerbread tasted more like a molasses cookie than gingerbread...definitely not enough spice.
