Ging Gang Goolie 2008, 23rd May, Tal-y-Bont On Usk

Yes, we were intending to bring ours - it says it's a 3-man, but younger dd says more like a 2.

ETA - and weren't you bringing 2 spares, Claire, or has someone else bagged those?

it sounds very much like ours Deb, I wouldn't fancy three in there, I think a double airbed and then maybe a foot of room each side

I've just spotted your post about arriving on Saturday, Claire. We'll bring our tent, Joh.

I'm going to compile a list of what we need and who's bringing what (in fact, I'm in the middle of it at the moment :teeth: ).

Carol, I do think we need to think about what food we want on Friday night. :thumbsup2 Remind me what goodies you're bringing again to save me trawling back through the thread will you, hon? I've got what everyone else has said they'll be bringing.

Jules - will you do me a favour too, please? Post a list of exactly who's coming and when they're expecting to arrive. Thanks, sweetie. :goodvibes

Thanks for doing this babe -

Ian and I - Friday evening
Youself and Matt - Friday evening
Kev, Tam, India and Georgia - Friday evening
Carol and Callum - Friday evening
Joh, Gary, Rhi, Sian and Daniel - Friday evening
Nat, Joh,. Ellie and Matthew - Friday evening
Tony and Theresa - Friday evening
Claire and Mike - Saturday lunchtime

I've not heard anything from Jen, so I am unsure on her and Alex, hope this helps, and thanks again x

I spoke to Ian earlier Joh, and he thinks that the two girls and Daniel would fit in ours - would that be an option for you?

Thanks Deb - with your tent and Jules and Ians plus the tiny one we bought on Saturday, we should be fine. I think Matthew and Daniel were going to sleep in the little one so Sian and Rea can have one of the others and Gary and I will have another, if that's OK.

We will bring eggs and bacon for Saturday morning and I am going shopping Friday for any last minute bits we need like bread buns, sausages and stuff so I can easily get chicken or anything else we may need for Friday night.

* Were these intended for breakfast or for the barbecue, Joh? Do we want some for both?

** I will bring the Wilkins & Sons varieties that went down so well last year. If anyone’s not keen, perhaps they could bring some Heinz versions.

*** I will make some Thai-style chicken kebabs. Can everyone post to let me know whether or not they want one. Like Carol, I don’t want to bring more than we’ll need. Ditto potatoes and salad. Do we want a pasta salad or is that going over the top? If so, I’ll make one. Coleslaw? Mayo? Salad cream? Anything else? If anyone wants anything for the barbecue other than burgers, sausages or kebabs, can I suggest we bring our own?

Does anyone have access to a good butcher where we can get some really decent burgers? Other than that, who is volunteering/planning to bring what? I suggest we all make a note of what we spend so that no-one ends up out of pocket.

I don’t suppose anyone has a fire pit? Our chiminea is too heavy to bring, but the fire pit in the tipi was so nice last year. It would be nice to have one outside if the weather is good. We thought about buying one, but they’re expensive. Matt’s going to bring some logs to burn on the barbecue after we’ve finished cooking, but it won’t be quite the same.

What have I forgotten?

i'll bring a couple of loaves of bread to see us through til the shops and spreadable butter

that is brilliant Deb, thanks so much for this, I will go back to the food, but as far as the Equipment is concerned, I also have a picnic rug, scourers, dishcloths, black bin bags, kitchen foil, ipod speakers and one log so far for the after bbq fire, I will pick two more up for the rest of the weekend. I am sorry I don't have a fire pit, and like you say they are expensive. I will take another look at the food now and update on that too x

ive got a jar of mayo unopened in the fridge so i will bring that !

I have a decent butchers locally so can provide burgers as well :)

just me and john for the kebabs please Deb ( the kids will be ok with burgers x x )

We have enough chairs for the 4 of us x x put me down for a washing up bowl as well !

Just Gary for kebabs please Deb.

Unfortunately, we don't have a washing-up bowl (or a fire pit) so can't help there.

We are bringing four chairs but the kids can sit on the grass so we'll have a couple of spares. We also have a pump for airbeds too so we'll bring that.

I can bring some puddings, if they're wanted. Can also make some potato & rosemary bread, if you'd like - although it's best eaten the day it's made so we'd have to eat it Friday night.

We are bringing a cool bag as well, in case we need to keep anything (other than beer) cold. It's only a bag, mind, so will only keep stuff fresh for a matter of hours, I suspect.

Nat and I are also bringing cereals (for the kids). And I'm bringing some (not many, just left over ones) paper plates/bowls and plastic cutlery.
