Ging Gang Goolie 2008, 23rd May, Tal-y-Bont On Usk

Just got back from investing in a tent (which I think is just about big enough;) ) so we'll be kipping in that.

And Jules, very poor photo posting efforts young lady!

Not too sure about that - I've yet to try putting the thing up! Will have a practice run some time, just hope the back garden is big enough!!

remind me again, how many of us are in the communal party gaff?

oh, and I hope everyone has their party trick ready!

apparently it is 70's Glamour Party night in the main marquee on the Friday, maybe we could have one of our own :lmao:

Yes, I think it will just be the four of you, Kev and Tam and the girls have borrowed a tent, and with Matt and Deb just having bought one, Tony is bringing a tent, Claire is bringing hers, Natalie has hers, so it could be just the four of you

Jules

Did you see the new facilities on the site where we will be. Did you say there was now a shower block and loos there now?

Also will we be able to have a fire? - got to know whether to bring the marshmallows or not

Can't wait - wouldn't it be great if the weather was like this

The new shower block is huge, it is up where the old one was though, not on the field where we are as I was led to believe. It will be finished by the time we are there. As for fires, I suspect not, when we were there, we threw an after dinner log on the bbq, within ten minutes the manager was there checking on it, as the council had apparently had a report that someone was having a campfire. They were great about it, and said that a log burning in a bbq off the ground was fine, I think that this is the only fire we will be able to have, but we had a fair amount of flames going on.

What about electricity? Is the field set up with proper pitches, or is it still just a field?

How big is the party tent? And how many people could comfortably sleep in there? Just pondering....

We're sitting out in the garden and have just been saying the same thing.

This is Deb, by the way - can't be bothered to log out and back in. :rolleyes1

Still Deb here! Party Central is a marquee, Joh. The more we thought about it, the more we realised that, if the weather is like it was last year (i.e. nice during the day, but pouring down at night), sleeping in it might not be a sensible option. The tipis were waterproof and had the fire pits and sheepskin rugs. As far as I know, the marquee won't have any ground sheets and, if it's damp or wet, I'm not convinced it would be a sleeping option.

we are fine for electric, we went and checked, definately having electric, I can't stick that stinky generator again :scared1:

Its 18 foot by something Joh, I am unsure of the exact dimensions it is definately not as big as the marquee thay they originally intended for us to have.

So, are there electrical hook-ups for each pitch? We bought a cable last year, so trying to work out if we need to bring it (and whether or not we need one for the east and west wings of our tent! :rotfl: )

I have to agree Deb, having eaten in the larger version whilst we were there, I am not sure I would want to sleep in it or a smaller version

I am "assuming" that there is going to be electric for the party tent, as they are going to put fairy lights up in there, as for the pitches Chris asked how many want electric, I told her two, one for our tent, and one for anyone else who wanted it, it was my intention to cancel the other if nobody wanted it, I know that Tony doesn't want electric, I think it is £1 extra per night to have an electric hook up for the tent, if you want the other Matt that is fine, Claire, Nat could you let me know if you want a hook up for your tents, I will need to ring and let them know ...

Our tent!

We also have a small 3 man tent if anyone wants to borrow it (we're closet campers, really).

Deb (still in garden, still logged on as Matt :teeth: )
