Day 12
Another lovely day. Did some washing as this was our last day here and we didn’t want to have to do any chores when at GF. Tony went to TL but I had a sore tummy so stayed by the pool. He came back about 1pm and we skipped lunch – I think we’ve eaten too much now – and we stayed by the pool. At 3pm we got a txt from DD1 who wasn’t well so had to phone her and give advice

• 26 and she still calls Mum and Dad for help!

At 6pm we decided to walk around the Boardwalk and ended up at Spoodles having a very nice dinner. We chose 4 appetisers and shared them Tapas style It was lovely and not too much. We then walked back through the Yacht Club and had a look in their shop, which was much better than BC and I bought a nice beach/pool wrap. Back to the room to pack.

Day13
Woke early this morning. Didn’t want breakfast so just got a drink from the Marketplace. Our bill under the door was $772 not bad for 12 days (plus the $550 we’d brought in cash) and eating in some nice places. I anticipated spending quite a bit less at GF since we’d be able to use the Concierge Lounge for lots of drinks and snacks.

We got to GF at 09.45 and were met at the entrance by the Concierge g
Greeter Juanita, who took us up to the 4th floor to check in. Our room unsurprisingly wasn’t ready so we went for breakfast at the lounge, then we went outside and sat beside the lovely pool which was vast. We had a frozen Daquiri each and roused ourselves at 12.30 to see if our room was ready. The room when we were escorted there, was on the 4th floor, 4308, with a magical view of the Castle and the Marina below. Our bags arrived soon afterwards and we unpacked before going back to the lounge for a little lunch. We then went back to the pool.

When we got back, we had a message from the Concierge staff to say they’d booked us into 1900 Park Fayre next night at 6pm. We had tried, unsuccessfully, ALL HOLIDAY, to get a dinner reservation there so we were really pleased they’d worked their magic and pulled strings!

We planned to go to MK to watch Spectromagic and Wishes that night so had a bite to eat and a glass of champagne in the lounge before hopping on the monorail. We were held up about 20 metres outside the MK station by a problem with electricity – but luckily not for long. We rode BTMRR, Spl Mtn and Sp Mtn before watching Spectro. We then hot-footed it to the dock and got the boat back to GF. We picked up some really delicious desserts and liquers from the lounge and took them back to eat on our balcony while watching Wishes. We then got into the wonderful beds – one each - turned down, with 2 Cinderella’s Castle chocolates on each pillow.

I'm enjoying your reports, Gill. I'm glad to hear the the GF concierge could work some magic and get you an ADR for 1900 Park Fayre. Did you happen to come across Tara whilst at the GF concierge? She was such a pleasure and really helpful during our stay. The Royal Palm Club is so wonderful! :cloud9:

Enjoyed reading your report ~ Thanx for posting.

I very much enjoyed your report Gill. I presume you took your DD1 to Disney at some stage, what did it feel like the first time you went back to Orlando without the kids. I am dreading the day when my sons (17 and 15) don't want to come on holiday with us any more but still intend to go to Orlando.

Any piccies of your GF room?? :)
I do have photos but really can't fathom out how to post them. I am in the process of putting them on another site so will post the link for that when I've done it.

Yes, we've been 5 times before, 4 times with all three of them, once with DS and his friend and this time was the first time on our own. They're all in their 20's now and don't want to travel with us anymore - quite right too - they have their own lives to lead. They've done WDW or DLP on our points without us.

We found it rather strange being there without them at first, but in many ways we enjoyed it more because it wasn't all about the parks. We felt we'd had a "proper" holiday as well as just a Disney fix.

Thanks Gill. I know it will be a bit strange. I suspect the oldest will not want to go with us first, then we will just have the youngest. Though I know I will miss the kids like crazy it will be nice having some one to one time with the hubbie though.

Lovely report Gill, did like the idea of 'greeter juanita' did anyone else make this rhyme?? :goodvibes

Enjoying your reports, Gill. The GF sounds magical.
