Gifts of A Lifetime Scavenger Hunt

This is a good/bad news story. I e-mailed Jane with the questionaire for the scavenger hunt planning. This and an Illuminations Cruise are the 2 surprises I am budgeting for our Nov 2004 family reunion. I was very disappointed Jane wrote back that she doesn't do planning more than 1 year out.

I thought about it all night and decided the good news is....I am truly getting a unique adventure. She could have just cut and paste something from a word file that she has already done for someone else (and could do for many more people), instead, she is testing my planning patience to make my experience unique and special.

I have used Jane for special postcards and shopping so I am confident she will come through with something amazing. I guess the saying all good things are worth waiting for is true.

Just thought I would share this as I know there were several threads about "how unique are the experiences" and I think this says it all

Be Patient. My husband used GOAL for a scavenger hunt in the MK that finally lead me to the wishning well by the castle where he proposed to me and we renewed our vows with them. It was great!!! They had me on everyride and the clues were so cute. She composed them with my husband and complete strangers would hand me the next one after each attraction. Trust them to make the experience truly memorable!!

Seriously, though, I understand your eagerness to get things in order for your trip. We used GOAL for a special event for my MIL and were very pleased with the time & effort Jane put into making it both unique and fun, too. Jane herself came to the MK to direct our event and we really appreciated her attentiveness to detail.

Too, as more and more folks learn about GOAL, I'm sure Jane's workload increases with each passing month. And I can certainly understand not planning more than one year ahead . . . who knows what changes might occur at the MK in that amount of time that would skew a previously-laid plan !!

Have fun planning your trip; I'm sure she'll have something special just for you when the time comes!

I just finally (I say finally because I was so anxious) heard from Jane about my trip for this August.

We are doing a hunt called "Simba's confused Summer" sounds like fun.

Jane and I sent my husband on the "Amazing Race" at MGM for a birthday surprise this past April--it lasted almost 2 hours and she even had some surprises in store for me!

Be patient...like mentioned by another DISer, so many things change in the parks on a regular basis...Jane's policy puts you on hold for now but will definitely be worth it in the long run!

I know I need to be patient and don't want anyone tp think I was upset. I thought it was AMAZING that this is in no way "canned". I thought it might give others on the fence some extra terrific insight.

There are many things that you can't book till closer to your trip date - you can still "plan" and think up your own suggestions to ask Jane about when the time gets closer. I did an event for my friend and it was great - certainly a highlight of our trip. Jane is having some specials for summer (June,July if some others out there are going during this time. You can read about them in the newsletter at this LINK Besides the extra time to think about what you would like to do will help make your event more special! (I came up with the idea for our event myself and Jane perfected it for us - so you never know, you might have some great ideas yourself!)

I would love to use Jane but was a little upset. I filled out the questionaire over a month ago, twice as a matter of fact, and have never heard from her. I wanted to do something fun for my DD (13) and her friend that is coming with us in August. Anyone else not get a reponse when you have asked???

I'm shocked. As I said, I have never done a scavenger hunt but have used Jane many times. I think something most be worong with your transmission. I would e-mail her directly at jane@giftsofalifetime.com with info. In fact, I was teasing her that she never gets off her computer. I sent her the "questianaiire" at 10:30pm on a weeknight and heard back within 20 minutes. I have had that type of response the other occassions as well.

Inst & Tinker... Jane just got back to me this week after I filled out my questionaire in March - she is really swamped with requests... she is doing them as quickly as she can - and she works on each request individually - it's not just the same thing over and over.

I am sure she will be in touch soon - August is still 2 1/2 months away.

Ditto on emailing Jane direct. That way she can let you know that she did (or didn't) receive your questionair and she can give you an idea when to expect a full response.
