a little three year old boy i know was recently diagnosed with lukemia. his parents are heartbroken and he is the youngest of three. i really wanted to do something for the family, so i make a cute card for him, along with a spiritual boquet. i also want to make up a cute little basket with inexpensive games he can play in bed. anyone have suggestions? also, i was thinking of baking cookies. Does anyone else who has gone through this have any suggestions for a good deed?

Markers,Crayons etc are good as are little cars, legos etc- Things that are fun but tick the nurses off are silly string and water guns (not that I would know....) Another good one would be like viewmaster and reels-

One thing my daughter who had cancer had fun with (but its more of a at home thing) was finger paint- After she lost all her hair we'd let her paint her head (dad helped sometimes) to keep the being bald thing "fun" and its also a good dexderity exercise-

I would also include something for the older kids as it gets really tough on them too- Especially if they are younger and dont really understand it all.

great ideas! i'm definetly gonna try them. i'm thinking of wrapping eerything up in a plastic dump truck or something like that that has dual purposes.

When my aunty had cancer, I would send her cards, teddy bears, gift baskets....from time to time. It gave her something to look forward to.
Try finding out what his favorite things are to munch on and to play with.
If he likes a certain t.v. character it would be fun to get him something from that show.
You're doing a very nice thing for that little boy and for his parents.

One of my nephews is a cancer survivor. A basket is great and including something for everyone. All the siblings will probably be spending lots of time at the hospital. Small individual wrapped snacks, since their appetite might be a little off anything they will eat is great. Small toys and some magazines and small things to read. Things that mom & dad might like too.

My mother in law is going through chemo right now and my kids 3 and 4 have sent her a card every week. Just a little something to look forward too. Even though they visit often everyone loves mail!

My DS teachers daughter just had surgery on her leg and is in for awhile so I bought her a clipboard that opens up with craft supplies etc.. That way she has something to write on. I got mine a Target.

Hi
I just bought a really neat magnetic board with Mr Potato Head on it. It has Mr. PH's outline on the board and magnetic pieces with his features, arms, shoes etc on it. It's a great little thing to play with that won't make a mess and the pieces aren't too small so as to be unsafe for a little one. I found it at Toys R Us and it was around $7 cdn (about $5 US).

have you seen those fuzzy poster boards? the ones you color in. Kids love them and they don't have to be perfect but turn out nice.
So sorry to hear about this little boy. Breaks my heart. Prayers for all of you!
