Gifting a Disney Cruise

I have a colleague who has been a tremendous resource on a major project and would like to get them and their kids a Disney cruise as a thank you. I know I can do this on RCL (they have a program http://www.royalcaribbeanincentives.com/individual-incentives.aspx that allows you to purchase "gift certificates" good for different cruise lengths, and when the recipient decides when they want to cruise they redeem the certificate for the full cost of the cruise), but is there a program at DCL that would allow me to do the same thing.

Best bet would be to call DCL directly for accurate and up-to-date information. Good luck.

My past experience with calling DCL and asking them anything "off-script" has been an exercise in futility. I was hoping someone actually knew if such a program exists before I start beating my head against another DCL wall.

You could always do disney gift cards and say that they are for a cruise. If all else fails - sorry I dont know the answer to your specific question.

That I know of Disney does not let you gift a cruise like RCL does. What you could do is pay in full for a cruise and then let them know that they can change it up to a certain amount of days before the cruise and all money you had already paid would be applied to the other cruise. That or you could give them several high dollar gift cards and say these are for you to be able to take your family on a Disney cruise.

What an awesome colleague you are to give a DCL vacation as a thank you!

Thanks for the info. I don't really want to give them a stack of gift cards or purchase a cruise that they have to move in order to use it, so I guess it will either be an RCL cruise or a check, unless there is another way to do this. I really want it to be a Disney cruise, since they have two little princesses that have had to put up with me co-opting their parent for the project.

Do you have a travel agent that you work with? DCL doesn't have a cruise incentive program like RCCL does (that I am aware of). I haven't worked with the Royal certificates but have with the Carnival and they aren't as easy as picking a cruise date as they advertise. You could give the financial parameters to the TA and discuss how you might set this up. If it's doable then give DCL cruise brochure to your colleague along with a certificate (either a credit to the agency or one DCL specific -- perhaps the TA can make one up). Just a thought if you want to specifically gift a DCL cruise.

That might just work :) Great workaround:) That way, I can tell them to book the cruise they want when they want, and just have the TA bill me for the cost. Thanks :D

Not the same thing but we had held a fundraiser for a friend who was very sick. We sold tickets that were $20 dollars a piece and the winner received a Disney Cruise. I had set up an arrangement with our Disney TA and let her know that someone would be calling her in reference to the fundraiser and gave her my credit card number. I printed out a letter for the winner stating who they needed to call and what information that they would need to give her when ready to book. It worked out perfectly.
