Hi Everyone...I'm really hoping to get some input from you all.

DH2B and I are getting married in September. Neither of us has ever been married before. He's 42 and I'll be 39. So we're both "older" and "established" and really don't NEED all the stuff younger couples might need to start a life together.

Also, since we are getting married at Disney :Pinkbounc  :Pinkbounc  I'm not expecting guests. In fact, since I've only booked an Intimate, I don't want EVERYONE to show up unexpectedly.

I do want them to know however, 'cause what new bride wouldn't want the world to know she's getting married? And I was going to get my Disney wedding website updated and email everyone...just to let them know. I am also thinking of sending out wedding announcements or something (possibly afterwards).

Here's my dilemma...I don't want/expect gifts. As I said, we don't really NEED anything. But I know how my family is, they will all ask where I'm registered and all that. I just don't want anyone to feel obligated to send a gift just because they got an announcement. If they were coming to the wedding, then I could understand (but it still wouldn't be necessary).

Would you create a registry somewhere anyway? How would you handle this?

I have a couple of suggestions - I know this is your first marriage but people in the past that were remarried couples (they have the same situation they already have a lot of what they need). They could either give money, so you have extra spending money while at Disney, You could also ask them to donate towards a charity of your choosing, A lot of spas have registries maybe make a registry there and then whenever you would like you can have a session for a massage, manicure/pedicure - they also have a spa at Disney maybe look to see if they offer such a registry.

My last suggestion would be gift cards towards everyday things, supermarkets have gift cards these days they could buy some of those, or if you want to do home repairs maybe a gift card at Home Depot, etc. would work.

I hope this helps! Congratulations on your upcoming wedding!

Hi there. Being a newly engaged couple and planning a Sept. '06 wedding, we've been getting lots of "tips" from friends and family. One of the ideas we've heard several times was registering for our honeymoon with a travel agent. Not every agent does it, but some do. Your guests can purchase a part of your honeymoon such as a few hundred miles of airfare, dinner, sightseeing, etc. Just a thought. :earsboy: Congratulations!!! :cool1:
