Gift ideas for men please

I am looking for my single brother, 34. He is the type that buys what he wants, when he wants it, so he is really hard to buy for. Our budget is tight this year and I would like to spend around $40 on him.

He does Netflix so no movies.

He is very particular about clothing. Works for himself so no ties needed.

No gift cards and such, my Mother would be really mad as she thinks they are impersonal. He will be at her house this year for Christmas.

He has no hobbies to speak of. His wife left him earlier this year so even tickets to a show will not do (and are too expensive anyhow).

I need to ship it to him.

Help! I am plum out of ideas. Last year I made him cookies, sent him a book, and the obligitory framed photos of my kids. I guess I could do that again... maybe it could be a tradition. The only thing is I don't really plan to make a lot of cookies this year. Last year I was in a cookie exchange so I had a lot of them.

Does he drink?
Maybe you can send him a nice bottle of wine.
You could send him some steaks from Omaha steaks or a food item from QVC.

Do you have pictures of him? You could put together a scrapbook - especially if there are pictures of him with either his children (if he has any) or your children at different ages.

My mother put together an album (pre-scrapbooking days) of pictures of my brother from when he was a little kid through college. It was his very favorite present ever.

I love to make scrapbooks. Unfortunatly I have almost no pictures of him. Maybe I will make a book of my kids for him anyway. Or I could frame an enlargement of a picture of him as a child... hmmm. Steak sounds good too. I knew you guys would have ideas.

As someone who is hard to buy for (I already have just about everything I want) let me highly recommend food over "things". Cookies, a couple bottles of wine, even one of those goofy cheese and beef stick things. It's all good.

If you do want to go the thing route, things he can't get himself are the way to go. You ideas of pictures sound perfect.

I gave a brother-in-law in about the same position in life some travel-related items one year. He especially loved the shoe protectors (soft cloth bags with a drawstring).

We love to send Omaha Steaks (search for deals on the internet and you can usually get 4-6 filet mignons + 6 free burgers for about $40 w/ shipping), or we also love Wolferman's -- yummy gourmet English Muffins, etc. We first got those when one of our clients sent them to my husband and now we send them a lot and everyone raves. Those you can even do for $30 or so, and they make a tasty b'fast treat.

Gift basket with car cleaning accessories. Brushes, chamois, wax, soap, detailing brushes, things like that. Unless of course he doesn't have a car

Harry & David has some great food items. Especially love the strawberries with the chocolate dipping sauces.
