We are going to Poly for 5 nights and then transferring to AKL for 4 nights. I thought at Poly I'd ask concierge to have a few gifts waiting for my 3 yr old DS ( I thought a pal mickey) I thought maybe I'd do the same for AKL. I was thinking maybe binocculars to look at animals. But I just don't know. He isn't into stuffed animals "Mom they're girl toys". Where he gets these ideas I don't know. I thought since pal mickey talks and is a computer he'd like it. (my DH already said he wanted a pal mickey so if DS doesn't like it my DH will LOL). Thanks for the suggestions.

We just got back from AKL concierge. It was absolutely fabulous.

A couple of thoughts . . . they have some wooden animals (Giraffes, Zebras, etc) they sell in the gift shop. Some are 12-18 inches tall, but they also have some smaller ones. Another idea . . . I found a BRIO train for my son . . . . it had a safari theme. I found that on ebay, not at the AKL. They do have kids binoculars with Mickey on them. They're pretty cool.

You'll like the concierge for you son. From 5-7, they put out chicken nuggets and PBJ sandwiches everynight. It's perfect for them.

You don't say how old your son is. When we went in June, I went to the "Disney Florist" at http://www.ftdfloristsonline.com/waltdisneyworldflorist and ordered the "Mickey's Kool Snack" for my 6-year old. He loved all of the snacks and we used the cooler during the trip to take keep drinks cold while at the pool. We still use it for trips to the park, etc. now!

Just an idea... good luck!

Hi! I have arranged for a gift bag to be waiting for my daughter - either when we check in or while at dinner our first night. AKL Concierge called yesterday afternoon to go over all the details - Jack, he was wonderful! For my DD(7) I am going to have a gift bag with the Lion King DVD (it is being released a couple of days before we arrive! and we're traveling with our portable DVD player), an AK Lodge pin, a Safari Mickey and a few other "girly" items of his choosing...I decided against the Pal Mickey only b/c my daughter showed no interest when I showed it to her online...every kid is different. Your son will undoubtedly love it. For my mom I am having a gift certificate for a massage which they booked for me, and for my dad, Disney Dollars ;) he can use to shop in the Zawadi Marketplace. It should be a lot of fun for everyone. Oh, and also for my daughter, the chocolate easel w/ the choc."AKL" logo...she's a choco- and Disney-holic!!;)
I LOVE the idea of the wooden carved animals...vcunning did you notice the price range on these? I'd love to know. And DD has some plastic binoculars we are taking but I'm tempted to rquest the Mickey ones...how CUTE!! Great ideas! Enjoy!

We are staying at the Poly Concierage and I have two DSs. I am having them pick up lanyards, GOH badges, and pressed penny books. My older DS will be turning 7 on our trip so I contacted Pixie Gifts to have them pick up a few items for the kids. Beth had some great ideas that I will pass along. You could probably have concierage pick similar items up for you:

* Interactive trivia game -- this may be too old for him
* Magical Moments game -- you get more games as you move throughout the parks. If he likes video games, this might be up his alley.
* Mr. Potato Head with Mickey parts

I was at the Disney Store and they had walkie talkies with the Adventurers on them. I picked this up for my older DS along with a really neat can that turns into a flashlight. Hope that this helps!

I'm calling YC Concierge tomorrow. I'm also getting 4 yr old ds a pal mickey and was also thinking of a small keychain flashlight he could hold in dark rides but am wondering if anyone knows if something like that is available. I also like the idea of the binoculars and maybe one of those twirly character lights (not for the rides tho).

My girls have watched the a few of the great hotels shows and asked me how you get the chocolate frames & choc. covered strawberries--anyone have any idea where these are purchased from?

tazz - i had to ask about the chocolate items as well. It is done thru room service. The strawberries are about $3 each plus $3 delivery and 18% gratuity. The choc. easel w/ the resort-themed "chocolate bar" is $40ish.

If your 3 yo is anything like my little boy, he'll love the little AK bag of animals. It's a green see through plastic bag full of zebras, monkeys, lions, giraffes, elephants and has some baby animals too. It measures about 6"x9" and is semicircular/flat which made it perfect for us to take out and about to keep him occupied in restaurants. The front has a picture of Safari Mickey on it with the words Animal Kingdom. We bought it from a stall near Dinoland, but I'm sure they're readily available.

Have a great vacation

We leave on Thursday for Animal Kingdom Lodge. I picked up some cool strobe light keychains from Target (for about $5 each) for my DD6 and DS9. You can alternate the strobe pattern and the lights flash in red, green, blue, and white. We saw some in June at the Magic Kingdom for about twice the price. The kids wanted them for night parades and the dark rides, so I was thrilled when I found them at our Target store here, on the flashlight aisle.

This will be one of many surprises for the kids when we get there!

Just picked up a plastic tube of Safari Animals...Has the Animal Planet logo on it and contains about 20 small plastic, colorful African animals. $2.99 at Toys R Us!!!! This will be perfect...along with the beanie Simba, Nala, Rafiki and Mufasa I got at the Disney Store last month;)
