DH's cousin is 10 and we're looking for ideas for something small for her for Christmas. We don't want to spend too much (we love her and all, but our budget is tight :)), but we also don't want it to be junk. Our girls are still little, and I haven't been 10 for 18 years, so we need help! :thumbsup2 Would something like Bath & Body Works kinda stuff be appropriate? Or is there something better? We're totally up to suggestions! Thanks so much!!

My 10 year old is a boy but he loves loves loves audiobooks to listen to in the car. If you sign up at Audible.com you can buy a membership which starts out at $7.99, I think, and then burn the CDs yourself. Or if she has an MP3 player she can download it there. Given that a book on CD can easily cost $50 this is a wonderful deal.

One audiobook we loved, that would also appeal to a girl is Dealing With Dragons -- the narration and the storyline are both fantastic, and the main character is a princess with a mind of her own.

My DD will be 10 next month. She loves anything arts and crafty. You can get neat little jewelry making kits for reasonable prices as well as art project kits. She has recently gotten in to string tricks (cats in the cradle, jacobs ladder etc.), and I found one of those Klutz books with instructions for several different tricks. It was $10.00. If your DH's cousin has a Nintendo DS, keep an eye on the circulars for games on sale. Normally these things are $30.00 a piece, but I have seen them be on sale for less than $20 over the last several weeks. My DD likes any of them have to do with animals.. the Petz series is a good one. And speaking of animals, you can never go wrong with a Webkinz.

I think the teen section of bed and bath would be perfect. DN at that age also loved webkins. Girls that age are really easy. A flashy pocket book, jewery, funky socks, sleep pants, fun art stuff like glitter pens!!!

My DD10 loves stuff like that, makes her feel grown up wihtout being all made up with make up.

Also, Claire's, anything from Claire's. My DD10 could spend all day in there and you can spend as much or as little as your budget allows.

How about a nice hard cover book? Not a paperback but a hard cover. It could be something from the Dear America series About $10 or a classic. My DD always loved getting special books vs the paperback ones from the school book orders. This is also something she can keep long after the bath stuff (that she'll get tons of from everyone) is used up.

My DD10 is our oldest and we were not sure what to get her. She also is autistic and therefore wanted to make sure that we get stuff approperiate for a 10year old in general. She LOVES webkins, anything to do with animals (dogs mainly right now), crafts or anything artsy, a beanbag chair and some stuff from Claire's.

My DD is 10 and some of her favorites (so far) have been:

* anything Bobby Jack (I don't allow anything too sassy, though)
* Muckluks to wear inside
* Knee socks
* Hoodies
* Puffy vest (Old Navy for only $10!)
* Bed Bath and Beyond things
* Claire's -- ear rings and gift card
* She still plays with her Webkins too
