So DD got invited to a party today for a girl turning 4. Don't know her too well, but I know her mom. Any ideas for a generic girl gift under $10?

I think most kids love new things whether they are currently into them or not. My DD loved My Little Pony, Polly Pocket, and anything art at that age. Color wonder is always good. I'd shy away from games as she may already have many. Could you call the mom and ask for ideas? A gift card is always nice, too. Books are a big hit with my kids.

Great suggestions from p.p. If you have a Disney store near you, they had some cute watches on clearance or beach towels.

How about a $10 gift card to the movies, target or bookstore.

We have a DD4, and we have been doing the 4-year old girl party all year! Some ideas:

Dora anything - toys, hair bows, coloring books, anything Dora
Polly Pocket (especially the Disney princess ones)
Playdoh, particularly the Dora playdoh (about $10)
dress up stuff - boas, crowns, skirts
personalized things - bags, towels, etc. - anything with a name on it!
summer toys - diving rings, bubbles, chalk, sprinkler to run through (once again Dora is there!)
books - particularly those with buttons you push to make sounds or books of a favorite character (do I hear Dora? :rotfl: )
puzzles - 50-70 piece depending on the puzzle ability of the birthday girl. 100 piece if she is quite bright. The 24 piece say ages 3-7, but DD4 can practically do those with her eyes closed.

DD4 is very much into board games, but it is hard not to duplicate sometimes. She loves Dora Candyland (of course), Elefun, Balloon Lagoon (those last two are generally over $10 unless on sale).

Arts and crafts are always good. Yo can never have too much of that stuff. Also, most girls that age love dress up so jewelry, purses, etc. are always good. You can find cute sets at a lot of dollar stores. Disney store was just having a sale - maybe you can catch something on clearance there. And who wouldn't enjoy something Disney?

When DD was four, we loved playing the board game Pretty, Pretty Princess.

Boy, do I miss those days!!

I literally just got back from a 4 yo girl birthday party - we got her a My Little Pony and a little Belle set - it had tea cups in it - they were both clearanced at Target. This age seems to be in to Disney Princess and ML Pony. :)
