I do realize that housekeeping is not included in your stay when renting points or using points through DVC. When do you let them know you would like to purchase housekeeping? Also can you pay for this service with a Disney Gift Card?

A "trash and tidy" service is provided on Day 4 and if you stay more than a week, on Day 8 there is full housekeeping provided. If you want add'l cleaning I would recommend requesting it via Member Services in advance. If you do not own and are renting you must ask the owner to do so. You can ask for it once you arrive, but I have had one misstep with doing it that way as opposed to having it on my rez.

The charges will go to your room account so you should be able to use your Disney Gift Card(s) but be sure to drop by a couple of days before your checkout to apply them to your account.

Thank you!!

.

That's not entirely accurate. If your stay is 7 or fewer nights they will empty your trash, replace towels, replenish your soaps, etc. on day 4. If your stay is 8 nights or more full housekeeping will be provided on day 4 and then on day 8 they will empty your trash, replace towels, replenish your soaps, etc.

Day 1 is your check in day. Rather than full cleaning which we think is over-kill, you can buy extra towels only and often supplies if needed are available from housekeepers that you may find in the hall.

And as Bill/Disneynutz mentions about the towels, you can request a towel package that has extras of all bathrooms linens for what has always been about $6. I have a big family so that is what we usually do. I prefer not to do any unneeded laundry while on vacation. :tilt:

Actually it's now called "trash and towel". They don't do any "tidy".

LOL! With my big brood, just getting all the used towels, washcloths and hand towels picked up and out of the villa, along with emptying our usually quite full trashes sure still feels like a "tidy" to us! :teeth: Guess, phrases you learned in 1993 die kinda hard…… :rolleyes1

Each DVC resort has trash rooms where you can drop off your trash between cleanings.

:) And we always NEED to find those locations for my big group w/kids in a GV! We are usually at OKW so sometimes we have to search a bit to find them depending on what area we are in. The DVC resorts that are more hotel-like usually have them labeled pretty clearly. They do have recycle bins as well so you can empty your recycle bin.

Some one mentioned that there is also the option to order extra towels only for a smaller fee than the trash and towel service. Does anyone know if this is true? Also what does the full service include? Is there a place outside the room I can throw away our trash? I don not mind cleaning up our trash. I plan on ordering full service for my parents room but for us if I can get a set of clean towels every other day and then utilize the trash and towel service on the 4th day that would be fine for us. Also just to verify I can use a gift card to pay since it would be charged to the room correct? Is there any way to make sure I pay the charges for both rooms? I do not want my parents to get the bill but my moms name is on their room

Horse11, the previous posters were talking about those. The towel service is listed under the "Pay As You Play" section. Here is a list of the services and what is offered (and how much):

See post 9 about your trash. Are you sure that you want full cleans for your parents, I doubt that they are messy and as DVC owners we like not having housekeeping in our room each day.

I have our first reservation coming up in January for 8 nights. I know day 4 will be a full cleaning and the 8th day will be Trash and Towels. I was debating about making what would be our 4th day a resort day. Is mousekeeping willing to move a full cleaning day to day 5 or does it cause to much confusion for them and would they probably forget? Thanks for the help.

Our experience is that even housekeeping doesn't know the schedule and once at SSR, a DVC resort, I had a long conversation with resort management and front desk CM's who didn't know the schedule.

Day one is your check in and your full clean is on day 4, T&T on day 8, you might be able to change it but expect to have to remind them when to clean.

Personally I'd just leave it as set. We have had family members in the room often when cleaning was done.

Disney does not take kindly to paying for anything on another room's bill. :upsidedow From previous experience I suspect you would be unable to pay for something on your parents room unless perhaps if they were with you.

I'll just keep it as straight forward as possible then and keep it as set. Thanks for the reply.

When I first started using DVC, I thought I would miss the housekeeping. I have added days, changed days, and I have upgraded from a trash and towel to a full cleaning (paying only the difference between the two). It is possible, but I would say the majority of the time they screw up something. Plus I've found that most of the time the room does not need a full cleaning. I now just leave the cleaning schedule as it is supposed to be. Most of the time they get that right.
