Gift cards linked to magic band?

Can you link gift cards to your magic band/room for charging privileges throughout your stay? Or do you need to just pay your balance with the gift cards before they charge it to your credit card on file?
Just trying to figure out if it's easier (and less if a headache) to carry my gift cards with me.

Some CMs can put your GCs on your room account at check in. Others seem to have a problem doing it. YMMV

I asked my IPO this the other day and they said no problem. So it is definitely do-able and if you can't find a CM to figure it out, have them ask someone else

You could charge to your room using the MB and then pay it off using the GC at the front desk.

Prepaying is nice for teens/kids. My DD15 and her friend will be given X amount on their band.So when it is gone, it is gone. For these two girls it will be nice b/c they have gotten giftcards for easter birthday etc. and this way they can have it on their band and help them to budget....

I have a toddler so this didn't even come to mind. But they could also just use the GC if the CMs can't figure out how to attach them to the MB. I find that using GCs at the front desk, unless it's to pay the room charges off, is hit or miss depending on the CM.

For sure! I just wanted to remind those with teens this is a GREAT perk of the magic band with the gift cards. In prior years I never allowed DD to charge though to be honest I could have. She is awesome with money but to me this way seems so nice b/c you can treat it like a checking account instead of a charge card for a teen. I just wish all CM's could do it and they should be able to with training....

I have a 4 year old and 6 year of with gift cards too. Can they add them to their bands or are they too young? I think it will help them think about their money more if they have some control over it.
