does disney have any of these still in existence. my nephew and a few of his friends are going to disney for their graduation trip and his birthday is next week. i wanted to give him something he could use while in disney.

You could get Disney Dollars for him from the Disney Store...I think that is a great idea! As far as I know, there isn't really anywhere at Disney World that accepts the gift cards...but Disney Dollars are good just about everywhere! :D

Can you use Disney Dollars to pay for your resort stay at Disney too?

I think so. I'm thinking that you can use them for anything except the places in downtown disney that are not "disney" like the AMC theater and Planet Hollywood. I'm sure an "expert" will come along with a "for sure" answer. As usual, I'm "pretty sure" but I don't ever seem to be "positively for sure" LOL.

do you know what the expiration is on them? are 2004 disney dollars out or does it not make a difference? also, is there a surcharge on purchasing them or is it dollar for dollar?

thanks so much for your quick answers!

Now I don't think that I am an expert but it just happens that I emailed WDW with the question..."What can I buy to serve as a gift certificate for WDW?"

I was told to buy Disney Dollars at a Disney Store. They are good for everything, hotel, food in park, tickets to get into parks...Everything! They are not for outside vendors...But I'm not sure if that is true for all of them, ie. Rainforest Cafe in AK??

No expiration on them. They spend (and look) like real money (with Disney characters instead famous Americans. :). No surcharge - they are bought and spend dollar for dollar.

I think that Disney Dollars is really neat stuff. :)

thanks guys! i am hoping to get my sisters and mom to contribute and hopefully we can get him like $200 disney dollars. he is a senior and has working so hard to pay for his graduation trip and he would love this. thanks for all of your input.

Me too! :teeth: I think I like them better than "real" money! ;)

We have been saving our spare change in a jar--and have about $150 rolled! I am getting ready to take it in to the bank, but was just thinking--could I take it to the Disney store and buy Disney Dollars instead? Or would the CMs be really put out with me?

hey, money is money. even if you paid with all pennies, they better smile and treat you right!

True, money is money but you may want to call your local TDS. We always took change, but some people in the past have posted that they were unable to purchase DD with rolled change at their stores.

The stores are not soppose to take rolled change, and i'm pretty sure even the RFC outside of AK does not take them either....:D

Does anybody know how a Disney Santa might obtain Disney dollars way up north in Alaska? The only Disney Store I know of in Anchorage closed. I have heard Disney Dollars are not mailed. Christmas Stockings will be hung soon. Happy Turkey Day. Alaskan Mama

You can order them from WDW. I've never done it, but many people on the boards have.

We purchase Disney Dollars as a fun way to "save" money for the trip. Then, when we arrive, we simply apply the Disney Dollars to our room credit, use the room key for all charges and then we don't have to carry around the Disney Dollars. This will be our sixth visit this year, first as a DVC Member at our "home." Can't wait to sign our room credit without owing a thing for the accommdations or expenses!!
