Gift Cards at Canadian Disney stores ??

I was thinking about getting the kids disney gift cards from a local disney store for our trip down to the world in January.

My questions is this.... Will they work in the states. Are they loaded in USD or CAD?

Just thought this would be a good Christmas present and help teach them to control their own spending while in the parks.

I'm surprised so many people have viewed this but haven't answered you.

The simple answer is no. The gift cards here are in CAD, and the cards they accept down there is USD.

A good idea you could do instead is to give them "vouchers" for christmas for a gift card, and then actually get the gift cards when you're down there.

Just so you know and any one else reading this the reason why the Canadian Disney store can't sell gift cards that can be used in the parks is more to do with currency conversion laws. An individual store is not allowed to exchange currency with customers, they can only deal in Canadian dollars, even if they have US money in there till they cannot use it to make change for other US money (only exception is coins). If they sold gift card that could be used in the parks they would have to be in US dollars and they can't exchange currency in reverse.

Well you can use a starbucks gift card in the states, so I am not sure about conversion law

We are lucky enough to live close to the border. Walgreens sells Disney gift cards. You can load on any amount from $15 to $500. These are good at Disney World/Disneyland/Disney cruise ships etc.

Just a tip: in lieu of Gift Cards.......

Last year I wanted to give my niece and nephew money for a Disney trip for Christmas so I Googled IMAGES "Disney Dollars" and printed those out to exchange once we got to WDW.
