Gift card for turning down maid service

I read somewhere else about turning down maid service in exchange for a gift card. Is this legit and if so, how does it work exactly? Sounds like we can still ask for clean towels, which is my only real concern. Thanks!

It is legit. They've been offering $10 a night (with the exclusion of your first night) to forego housekeeping. I've not heard of them offering it a deluxe resorts, though - just values and mods.

Just decline upon check in at front desk and they email you the gift card to the email address they have on file. I got min about 3 hours after check in.

Pull up the email on your phone and the CM will scan the barcode.

Call housekeeping and ask for fresh towels. They will leave a bag of them hanging on your door.
